GM's thread about nothing (36 Viewers)

OMFG. It's K4, not bothering to log out of Mr. Krista's account. The following will sound like a brag but I swear I am dying laughing about what just happened. I'm used to being treated pretty well by Delta at this point, but for the first time I made Diamond status (125,206 flight miles in 2012) and this is a whole different world . Remember that SNL sketch where Eddie Murphy disguised himself as a white guy and took a city bus, and when the only other black guy got off the bus a swank party started? I've just found out how the OTHER other half lives.

We're on our way to Boston, connecting through Atlanta, and when we got off the plane, just as we stepped into the jetway, an obsequious guy named Kevin whisked us into his Porsche SUV to take us...wherever we wanted. Did we want the Sky Club or the gate? Feel like I should have asked for a full tour. He gave us each his card. Kevin. The guy who takes people straight from plane to plane so they don't have to be disturbed by pesky airport trains.
White Like Me one of the funniest skits ever. Congrats on looking down on us little people. ;) BTW, Mrs. SLB asked me last night if you were going to Coshole. Status update?

I don't get in until 9pm on Friday, so I'll just cab it to the bars, assuming some of you decide to go that route, and I hope you do. Just make sure somebody has a cold Coors Light waiting for me when I get there and I'll eat leftovers when I get to the compound.
What could go wrong?

I'm getting raped on the monthly bill for Mrs. SLB's iPhone, where's the best deal? I read about Walmart now having $45 a month but you have to buy a new phone. This is even a better option than the current anal tears I'm getting.
I use that Walmart (StraightTalk) plan and have been very pleased with the quality. Cust Service kinda blows, but I only need then a couple times a year.I'vce been debating whether to get an iphone.Over two years the plan costs 1080 and the phone is the phone is 650, so that's 1730 for two years. At verSprATT the phone is free, but you are looking at at least 2400 for the plan. Looks like about a 25% savings with the Straight Talk deal for the first 2 years, plus no commitment and a 50% savings after that,.My problem is I am kind of hard on phones and I am unsure how long the iPhone would last me, no matter who the carrier is. I more of a $200 phone kinda guy, but one who hates commitments.

I'm paying $110 a month now for unlimited everything so even if I bought a new 5, I would be saving money after 6 months.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about a drunken 2am check-in. Drop off you bags and get settled in first. There's plenty of alcohol in Austin, no need to rush straight to the bar.

TF - Might be able to pick you up at airport. I probably won't make it out of the house until 8:30 or so on Friday and the airport isn't all that out of the way if I'm going from my house to cos' place. Let me check with AngryWife.

Started car shopping yesterday. One of the guys I talked to annoyed me right away but was nice enough. I made the mistake of giving him my contact info in case he found precisely what I was looking for. I told him DO NOT CALL....email only. He's called once and emailed more than once. Each time, he ends his correspondence with "Aloha". He's as white and dorky as I am. Aloha? I haven't heard that word this misused since Mellyhole '08.
You buying new or used?Do yourself a favor and just follow the advice on this site: http://www.fightingchance.com/No hassle, you'll save a bunch of money, and you'll never feel like you left any money on the table
Used. Never new. I'm playing 4 dealers against one another including Costco, my sister's BF (who is finance director for a huge car dealership network here), Enterprise and a friend of a friend's auto group that's also a major player here. I will drill down on what I want to buy, then find the best price from one of the four. Thanks
Gotcha. I'm sure u know this, but the used market isn't like it used to be. Not sure "how used" u are looking, but might be worth a quick check to see if u can get new for incrementally more

Saturday night show at Antone;s is Del Castillo and the HebegebeesTix are $15 GA (standing on concrete floor)or $150 per table of four reserved in the balcony

Del CastilloLinksGreat art from all periods reflects the collective mood of that time period on many levels. Times are changing and America is changing. We are inarguably living in a New America; a place where the mood and the spirit of the people is guiding us through crisis and revival. . It is a spirit that beckons the audience to step outside of the old formula and join the new journey. DEL CASTILLO's sound is a result of each member being possessed by a boundless, creative spirit and allowing it to guide them on an amazing musical journeyDEL CASTILLO has become a symbol of the cross-cultural power of music with their eclectic blend of Rock, Latin, Blues, and World music. Now, in 2012 having released eight albums to date, you can hear their sound evolve from the first eponymous album and progress into a bigger more visceral sound through the years and is what makes each album so original and unique. The band calls their style “Nuevo Americano” and is taking their sound to the world. To truly experience DEL CASTILLO one must see them live! Not too long ago jazz was born in America. Then Blues. Then Rock. All these styles were born out of a need for artists/musicians to creatively explore and express themselves through an old medium in a new way - without boundaries. Truly embodying the spirit of freedom. It allowed artists and musicians to escape their troubles and inspire the same spirit in the listeners. "Nuevo Americano" is conceived in that same spirit.DEL CASTILLO got its start when five old hometown friends from South Texas Rio Grande Valley all crossed paths in the live music capital of the world, Austin, TX. Mark and Rick were roomates at the time. Since they had never truly played together they decided to write and produce a special holiday album for family and friends. Alex Ruiz also began writing with Mark del Castillo in 1999 after meeting at a mutual friends party. Together they wrote “Porque”, “Suenos Madrigales”, “La Luz a Mi Paso” even before working with Rick del Castillo. Around the same time Mike Zeoli was teaching as well as performing in Austin in a number of different groups from Reggae to Jazz to Punk, and even a Metal/Rock band (called Milhouse) which was with Mark. Since Mark & Rick were roomates (with a home studio) Rick wound up producing two Milhouse albums (among numerous other projects) and then soon after began producing the first Del Castillo album, "Brothers Of The Castle". It started as an instrumental work but when Mark introduced Rick to the songs he had written with Alex the project naturally evolved to the next level. At the same time, word got around fast Albert Besteiro was in Austin. Since Albert & Rick had a long musical history together (their first band was together in 7th grade) it made sense to reunite and continue their musical journey together once again. Initially though, Albert was reluctant to play bass since his true love is the guitar, but he finally agreed to join the band one night over a cheap bottle of wine and some delicious, salty snacks and that is how DEL CASTILLO was born! The newest member to join forces (in 2010) is Jason Murdy bringing his amazing talent and expertise on percussion. This is the core band. After receiving positive and encouraging responses from everyone who heard the songs they channeled their collective focus into this new band. In early 2002, the Austin American Statesman wrote, “…For a band that played its first gig only six months ago, DEL CASTILLO is, indeed, going places.” Encouraged by the immediate response and acceptance, they started playing regular shows in Austin and quickly built a following. In March of that year, they received the first of what would be many Austin Music Awards at the South By Southwest music festival.DEL CASTILLO became one of Austin’s most popular bands and they swept the Austin Music Awards, winning seven awards including “Band of the Year” and “Album of the Year.” During that time, Del Castillo was introduced to filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. He invited Rick to contribute guitar on the soundtrack of his film “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over,” and at the premier of the film in Austin in 2003 the band performed live with Robert joining Rick and Mark on guitar. Also, the band contributed the song “Dias de Los Angeles” to his next film, “Once Upon a Time in Mexico.” The premier for the film was held in New York that year and Del Castillo performed live, joined on stage by Robert, Antonio Banderas, Cheech Marin, and Patricia Vonne. All the while, the band continued to write and record new songs, and in late 2002 they released their follow-up CD, Vida, which took them to the next level. The Austin Chronicle wrote, “…if Vida is proof, their road to fame will be as short as an I-35 entrance ramp” Rolling Stone Magazine described the band as “tumbling brilliance on nylon-string classical guitars…eruptions of technique and taste (that) conjure images of Eddie Van Halen fronting early Santana (with an assist from the Gypsy Kings).”Robert Rodriguez filmed the band’s performance at the CD release party for Vida for a live DVD. The Del Castillo LIVE DVD released in early 2004. Also that year, Quentin Tarantino used the Del Castillo song “Malaguena Salerosa” as performed by Chingon, in “Kill Bill, Vol. 2” and Chingon, the musical collective with Robert Rodriguez and some of his closest musical compadres, including members of Del Castillo performed at the premier of the film in Los Angeles winning over still more Hollywood fans as Uma Thurman and Vivica A. Fox kicked up their heels. Alex even appeared in the film “Sin City” in 2005 at Robert’s request. The band was enjoying great success throughout Texas touring extensively across the country, playing shows with such artists as Ozomatli, Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, Styx, Kinky, deSol, and others. They toured non-stop through 2006 and performed at three of Willie Nelson’s 4th Of July Picnics, and at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival, and they have made numerous national and local TV appearances.DEL CASTILLO is now promoting their newest album, "Infinitas Rapsodias" which includes brand new footage of the band behind the scenes recording, jamming some old favorites live and also video footage from their European tour in 2011. An extensive European summer tour is to follow. Austin's mix of Blues, Rock, Latin, Funk, and Soul helped in the making of Dahebegebees sound.Ady Hernandez (guitar/lead vocals) a 3rd generation musician, son of the Legendary Little Joe Y La Familia started the band with the help from Cecilio Ruiz (Drums/vocals) and Jonas Saks (Bass). Later adding its newest member Miguel McDonald (vocals) as well as various other musicians along the way.Countless shows and miles across the U.S. helped the band form into a tight unit.Since then the band has made its name into some of the most elite circles in the music game from Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, War, Heart, Little Joe Y La Familia, Toby Keith, Ja rule, Malo, El Chicano, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson and many more. Dahebegebees have created a fresh sound with thoroughly danceable groove based songs compiled with melody, lots of harmonies, hooks galore and substance. The group is musically sophisticated with marathon live performances drawing from such artist like Santana, Maceo Parker, Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews, and D'angelo. This band will put your soul in a happy place.Dahebegebees have recorded three CD's, one EP and soon to be out a Live CD and studio release for the 2011 year.

Not sure where Bentley got that from. I honestly wish I could, but we're hosting a Super Bowl party for mrs tf's work. So going to be cooking for that all weekend

Kinda price at $38 bucks, but very much worth it.

I'll take the Ravens, GB, and Seattle
As long as there are no conflicts with my earlier bets with SLB. Post any non-conflicters, amount you want to wafer and I will confirm, up to 150/game total.

That's more my speed, but I keep hearing some people mention they want to go out. If they do, this would be the place to go Sat. night.

UPDATE: apparently people also just start giving you things if you're White Like Me. Flight attendant just gave me a bottle of wine and a bunch of brownies.

Bogart..hows your maaaamma? (Ribby voice). Looking for a positive update.
Mom is not doing well. We are actually pulling her off the ventilator tonight and letting her finally rest for good. She has been sick for years, in constant pain for years and the last nine months without her soulmate have been about as much as one person can handle. She is ready to go find him again. I'm at peace removing the machine, my guilt lies in putting her on it to begin with and keep her selfishly here for the last eight days. She has no fight left, and you could tell. It will be a hard few days coming up, but there will be some peace at the other end. Thanks to everyone in here for their support over the last year and change. First the divorce, then my stepdad, double hernia thrown in, and now my mom, I feel like a Debby Downer. But it has been nice to come in here and scream, yell and :wall: instead of going off and doing it in the real world.I promise much positive content and multiple shot videos in the near future.
Very sorry to hear. Best of luck, man.

Doesn't "aloha" mean hello or goodbye?
yesvery curious to know how it was used at Mellyhole now.
Well keep in mind my notebook is tainted with bong rips and advanced age, but I'm mildly certain it relates to us telling a stripper that MexiJoe was indeed Mexican in ancestry. So she sidled up next to him, stroked his eager face and purred into his awaiting ears "Well, ALOHOA!". :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Do not touch the talent.
Were we at the same place?
