First of all, my TPBW to you. Second of all, my wife and I went to an all-black church for a gospel Sing-Off at the invitation of her co-worker (black). We were the only whites there. The lady next to my wife starting speaking in tongues and flopping her head around as if she being possessed. My wife fans her with her hands while trying not to laugh.

Then in the choir, we see a woman singing a song while air-humping an invisible Jesus behind her. At one point, she disappears beyond the front row balcony divider. We almost lost it at that point. It was like the Holy Ghost was ###### her in the ### from the way she was carrying on.

I would totally go back to a black church anytime vs. a white one. Bonus: the pastor came over and hugged us and thanked us for coming. I felt more welcome in that church than any other I have been to.

And the entertainment value, coupled with an uplifting message is so worth it.

There was nothing like that but a lot of Amens and "oh he's preaching now! Preach my brother!"

I don't think I've ever posted about this, but after my parents were divorced, my mom married a black guy. He was originally from backwoods Alabama (about 50mi south of Montgomery), so we had the full flavor of the churches, in good times and bad. Absolutely love that side of my family and their traditions. Thanksgiving was awesome .

I don't think I've ever posted about this, but after my parents were divorced, my mom married a black guy. He was originally from backwoods Alabama (about 50mi south of Montgomery), so we had the full flavor of the churches, in good times and bad. Absolutely love that side of my family and their traditions. Thanksgiving was awesome .

I grew up in a small rural area in the 60s where it was probably 50/50 black/white. There was rampant racism (though I didn't realize it as a kid), but most of us were in the same boat - poor farmers/watermen. So we had more in common with each other than either did with with city folk. When one of us would die or get married, there'd be a church service and everyone would attend. Looking back, those ladies singing to their Lord and the way it affected them is about the same as good sex.

A pretty horrible tune no doubt but it brought me back to HS and when the cheerleaders "kidnapped" me. Imagine waking up with a room full of hot cheerleaders around you. It was pretty awesome. My mother was not happy. We then went to one of their houses and got day drunk and, um stuff. That was a pretty good day.
