GM's thread about nothing (16 Viewers)

U turn and Any Given Sunday are the kind of movies that seem easier to like if your young(under 30). I don't think I'd sit thru half the movies I saw when I was younger.

TOTALLY NOT SAFE FOR WORK/SENSITIVE PEOPLE (profanity and racial language)

But totally hilarious

It's times like this I wish I had banning power. Not mod powers and having to correspond with Joe in any shape or form, just the occasional ability to ban someone. Like once a year. Aaron, can you forward my request to Joe? Thanks, mate.

Oh, okay...everybody gets to bag on for some of the ridiculous things up post up in here while I largely remain silent and suddenly I have to calm down and relax when I'm just trying to point out the silliness of your comment. It was a little mock outrage, but I guess I'll calm down and restrain myself from busting your balls on here.
Dude, I was comparing the style of those movies to Savages. It was not a disertstion on movie quality or a top10 list.

Are these guys actually going to the Kentucky Derby this year or am I misinterpreting something?
I believe so. I had originally planned on doing the same, but my mom had her health issues. She's doing swimmingly now, so this may be back on the table provided I don't get violated on the flight.
I need to get on the ball, but the plan is to:

0. go out in Cincy on Friday night and get drunk,

%, crash at my place,

3- hop on a bus in the morning to the derby

four: drink heavily

V> watch horses run in circles from the infield while drinking heavily

2*(4-1) = hop on a bus and drink our way home

se7en. drink some more at my place

8. sunday start with mimosas and/or bloody mary's as we watch the marathon runners go by

nein, bbq?

10. profit, definitely profit

I'm reaching out to some local friends to see if they would be interested in joining. If I can get enough people, then we could hire our own bus, otherwise we'll grab seats on a big party bus with strangers
V is a problem in that you don't really see horses from the infield, unless you get there very very very early, but I have the feeling not seeing horses run around won't bother you guys. :)
Plenty of good spots, especially near and after the 2nd turn. But regardless of where you are, you're only seeing them for about 4 seconds.

Drifter > pretty sure I'm good to go for Keeneland on Friday :excited:
Sweet. I've confirmed for two tickets.

I was informed that there's a small dress code in our "area" (box?). Slacks/shirt, no denim. PITA for me as I wasn't planning on travelling with anything but jeans, tshirts and sneakers since I'm going to be in warehouses for pretty much the entire trip.
So when and where do i need to be?

Still up for poker after if we can make it up in time?

Shuke, how about you? If Drifter and I make it back, want to join the poker game?
Probably 50/50. Will depend on how my wife is feeling. I had to take her to the ER tonight for migraine.

I've been many times, having grown up in Louisville and my whole family still lives there. Generally if in infield would be near first or second turn. As you say, which is what I said, you aren't going to see horses "running in circles". You might if lucky see one run by very quickly. These guys seem much more like third-turn guys, though. And there, the visuals are not about horses.

Oh, I thought you meant good spots to see them going by. Is there really any areas where you can see more than that regardless of what time you get there?

I've been about 6 or 7 times. Haven't for about 5 years, though. Last couple times resulted in some very out-of-character incidents by yours truly that it might be better if I stay away.

Guess this is the best place to put this...My grandfather passed tonight in hospice. He was 87. He and my grandmother (who passed away 4 years ago) raised me for about 1/3 of my life. My dad died when I was 7. He was an only child, and I'm his only child. So my whole fathers family is now gone. I'm 30 and feel a little alone.Papa was a real man - hard worker, his word was absolutely gold. Honest and straightforward, very generous and charming. I hope to carry forward his legacy in my family.Good bye Dad, Papa and Grandma. Thanks for all the love.
I'm late, but if I had to bet I'd imagine you're making Papa proud now that you're the senior on that side of the family.

Thanks man. Send me a text Friday afternoon. We've got some carnival at my son's school from 6 to 8 so I'll have to see what's happening after that.

SHUKE - Hi. Big fan. Love the Reds and Ron Oester. Would like to hear the story about the men in suits who came out of the woods.
What's all this now?
It's your story. From that one other thread.
I'm pretty sure I'm never telling it. I've always had some lingering paranoia about it although it was so weird I think maybe I remembered it wrong.
Tell it here. It's safe here.

Get Rob on the horn.

Taken 2 isn't very good. Can someone recommend something at Redbox that doesn't suck?
Lawless
Actually saw that in the theater. Enjoyed it a lot. Have seen... Taken 2SkyfallEnd of WatchZero Dark ThirtyKilling them Softly Waiting to watch Lincoln with the wife. Not all that interested in Argo (although maybe I will rent it). Have "Savages" here as well.
Dug savages.Argo was entertaining if you went in with reasonable expectations.

2012 wasn't exactly a banner year for movies. Silver Linings Playbook had its clever moments and generally good acting/dialogue, but was really nothing more than "cute."

Do I have to be a UT Grad to join and migrate over to this Shaggybevo site? I'm a legacy. Daddy needs a new home.

I had no idea what it was about, so I had no expectations when I watched it on the way down to Coshole. I heard the name, but assumed it was a movie about Jason and the Argonauts (sp?). :bag:

I did like it. I even missed the beginning. When I turned it on the bad guys were storming that building thing. Hope that's not a spoiler.
