I honestly don't remember a thing about it, except falling in love with a stripper that Otis said was "big". I think Alias disappeared at one point.

I thought a couple years ago that an app that let you enter a grocery list then mapped out what aisle everything was on wpuld be killer. But there are a lot of moving parts. It's complicated, Maude.

 
Mister Mom Update:

- Dinner made for three kids, each with unique dietary desires and needs - check

- Post meal walk/bike ride/scooter ride/stroller ride around the neighborhood - check

- Bath for baby, showers for the boys - check and check

- Baby put to sleep for the night by 9:20pm - check

- Sons packed up for their camp hike tomorrow on Mt. Hood - check

- Lunches made for all three kids for tomorrow - check

- Laundry done - check

- Dishes done - check

- Plants watered - check

And now, it's me a glass of red wine and the Bachelorette on TIVO. Uh, winning?

 
I'm thinking I may drive up to Arlington on my birthday to watch Darvish pitch v. the Yankees on Monday 7/22. Anyone wanna corn?

 
I can't seem to make a decision so I'm hoping to get some advice/guidance from the IT people in here. I'm getting my Master's in MIS right now, and I can get also get a graduate certificate in one of three areas depending on what electives I take. With most of my work experience being more "business" than IT (most of the IT I do is hardware and networking in a small office environment), I figure I'll end up in an analyst role of some sort. Which do you think sounds like it would be most applicable right out the door?

I have to take 3 extra courses anyways so don't consider the 2 vs 3 in anything.

Here's the areas and extra courses required:

The Business Information Assurance (BIA) certificate program prepares students to perform critical activities needed to properly manage an organization’s assets related to a wide range of information security / privacy threats. Training related to effective managerial methodologies has become increasingly important in planning for possible breaches of security and handling resulting problems.

• MIS 7455 – Cyber Ethics in Information Technology*

• MIS 7670 – Computer and Network Security

Graduate Certificate Program in Software Testing. Software testing is a critical discipline as organizations increasingly rely on information systems that are becoming increasingly more complex. This certificate prepares students to both manage and participate in testing at all stages of the software development process. The topics and techniques are applicable to testing all types of software.

• MIS 7655, Advanced Systems Analysis and Design (3 hours)*
• MIS 7681 Management of Software Testing (3 hours)
• MIS 7682, Software Testing Tools and Techniques (3 hours)

Project Management. If you're looking for marketability, having an IT education combined with strong project management and good business acumen and people skills will open a lot of doors for you. Combine it with a PM professional organization/certification and you can make a nice career.

I'd actually pursue the first one, the go ahead with a goal of PM work. You're eligible to become PMP certified after 36 months of PM work, assuming you pass the exam.

 
If any of you remember the saga of my brother's wife giving birth 11 weeks early in Denver and then being stuck there for two months while he got healthy, the little guy turned 1 today and thus far has been a normal, healthy baby.

It's really strange. They're trying to artsy-fartsy up spring break. All these characters speak in these completely unrealistic monologues. There are long montages of people getting drunk and shaking T&A (not a bad thing on its own, of course).

I also could barely tell the different characters apart. :shrug:

I'm a business analyst. I would say #2 would be most applicable right out of the gate. You can work on your PMP later if you decide that you want to go into project management.

Awesome! I remember following this last year and having a heavy heart. Cool that all is well today. My daughter turns 1 tomorrow and I really couldn't imagine having to go through what your brother's family went through. Very blessed for good health and so happy this little guy has it going on now.

The thought of my child suffering through a serious medical illness or disability would be a living nightmare.
