GM's thread about nothing (33 Viewers)

So we had another ultrasound yesterday, and everything seemed great. That little one is super active, and dare I say cute. Today the wife gets a call though, that they want her to come back in tomorrow to take a longer look at her (my wife's) kidneys. Yesterday the tech said there was some urine in them, but not a lot or to be alarmed about, but today after our Dr. saw the photos, they seem concerned. They baby is only 13 weeks, so it shouldn't be big enough to be obstructing the ureters. Hopefully it's nothing and just Dr. being cautious, as you should be, with a pregnancy.
ugh, can't imagine how stressed you guys must be. good luck

We just had a water main break at work. Water to the whole building is shut down. And right on cue I felt the rumbling down below. I've been tip-toeing around. I hope I don't have to post in the "Have you shat yourself" thread.

there will be one flush left.......unless you have tankless toilets. just go drop it.

Just got back from seeing American Hustle. I liked the movie a lot, but in what world is Amy Adams the sexy other woman and Jennifer Lawrence is the put-upon housewife?

I was thinking about a Tommyboy joke about a butcher and a T-bone steak, but thought better of it. Hope everything turns out okay and little Leeroy(ette) is doing super (along with mother).
Wow. /Richard

I had the same reaction to Good Fellas. Sandy over Karen?

Ooooo, good one. Sandy was kind of yucky. I mean, Amy Adams is a beautiful woman and a very good actress, but weirdly miscast here. Jennifer Lawrence could have pulled it off so much better.

Yeah. This.

I hate when a typo of mine gets quoted. :lmao:

So, I also got a job offer today. A friend from law school has a big real estate company, and wants to bring me aboard. I have mixed emotions because I was hoping to get something on my own maybe doing something outside of real estate. This would be better than a law firm though. Compensation is decent, not spectacular, but more than I make now. I'd have to move, but that's been the plan for a while. There's a decent amount of travel too, which I wouldn't mind in general as I'd like to see some new places (new baby will either change my attitude, or I will need the break). Just timing will devastate my mom (who gave us the cold shoulder for a while after I made my intentions known this summer), and I have the preggo and unknown kidney situation. The other worry of course is always how working with/for great friends could impact the relationship. He actually hired another friend/classmate a few years ago, and I will be talking to him shortly. They seem to have not been impacted, but every person/situation is different. I'd also hate to not take it and offend my friend, who really gave them the hard sell on me. It could be really cool though, as he is expanding the company and wants me next to him doing it. I sent out some resumes this week to others; two firms, but one large company that would also be awesome to work for. Who knows if A) I will hear ANYthing from them, or B) if i'd get even an interview.

My head is spinning.

Amy Adams is underrated in terms of hotness. Both looked good though.
Oh she looked great, and she's probably one of my favorite actresses. Mr. krista and I both just couldn't buy her in the role in terms of the sexiness or really anything else. It's a minor quibble, though; enjoyed the movie a lot. That guy who played Carmine Polito--forgot his name but he's in lots of stuff--was phenomenal.

Abe, how many of these are in your regular rotation?
Just the first. (Both, but usually keystone) I have also taken to drinking oAk leaf wine or whatever it is. $2.97 per bottle at wal mart. The merlot over ice is good.
So wine that is actually cheaper than boone's farm... impressive!
3 buck chuck at Trader Joe's has to be better.
Makes me miss the days when it was 2 buck chuck

Don't guck around with health insurance during a pregnancy. We paid for our own and it was a terrible experience that took two years to get settled.

Just found out that the mother of my godchild got her results back and she has stage 2 breast cancer.

32 years old. 6 month old son. No history within the immediate family.

So, yet again, #### you cancer.

this reminds me of a girl i used to work with.

she was trying to be all cool and buddy-buddy with the managers and decided that she was going to start her own wine collection because that's what all of them had. she went out and bought ~100 bottles and was talking about it non-stop so everyone would know how in to wine she was. Every single bottle was a version of 2 buck chuck :lmao: 100 bottles of that swill. I can't even imagine how many bags of ice you'd need to drink all that with

This sounds like a great opportunity. Very excited for you! It might not be your ideal but it has many advantages from what you've described. Unless your other friend says your friend is a complete ##### to work for, can't see any reasons not to take it! You deserve to have something great like this after having a few struggles in other areas lately.

It's all coming together, my friend. New baby, new job, opportunity to move where you want to be...I'm so happy for you!

Jeremy Renner?
That's the one! Awesome actor. Great in The Town.

TPW for your friend. Remember, though, that breast cancer has one of the highest cure rates when found early, which Stage 2 is. She might not even have to have surgery. While no one should have to go through that, this should be very treatable and curable!

ETA: For some reason I typed Stage 2 but thought Stage 1. Yeah, she's going to have to have surgery but still has very good odds of getting to cancer-free.

ETA2: When I say surgery I mean a lumpectomy. She probably won't need a mastectomy.

ETA2.5: Lots of breast cancer in my family so I've dealt with these a lot.
