GM's thread about nothing (10 Viewers)

Abe - so they are going to make these people sit through the meeting and then can them? That seems extra mean.
Actually the people being canned are being asked to stay and work at the office handling calls whole the rest of us meet at a hotel. Then they get laid off. One of them is the marketing director who shares an office with me. She is a wonderful person and very kind, but she doesn't know anything about marketing.

Sick at home today so I decided to catch up on random stuff I had on my DVR... The Thin Red Line, jesus christ. I guess it's been so long since I first saw it that I forgot how terrible it was. Why does this pile of dogturd have favorable reviews everywhere?

Everybody hates it but I think it's awesome.

It's complete garbage.

You want Errol Morris' The Thin Blue Line. It's tops locally of the Thin Line genre.

It's f'n terrible. I've been biding my time for almost 15 years waiting for the opportunity to destroy Terence Malick.

His day will come.

??? I had no idea people thought this was bad. It's great. :hifive:

So ####### guy going on vacation early waited five hours and then sent an email to the businessperson saying that I'd be handling the matter and would be getting back to him. Nice. Then I got his "out of office" when I replied. Guess he's taking at least one extra day of vacation. What a ####.

:hifive: Rules
People that hate it are probably scared to go to Columbia City.

Not enough explosions and sniper scenes in it for some people I guess. Probably a new Tim Allen movie coming out soon so sit tight.

Maybe the movie just needed more cutaways to shots of leaves blowing in the wind as dramatic violin music plays in the background and a random unknown character rambles on and on about mortality and how much war sucks.

Also, more flashbacks to wives back at home. 15 minutes of that wasn't enough.

I'm going to try to watch one more Breaking Bad tonight. I know you guys (and other friends) have told me to stick with it, but this first season is tough sledding. :(

Hold on, I can't hear you over the fireworks outside!

I would agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
Yeah but you hate everything

"Tree of Life" was even worse.

If you watched the movie before and hated it, why was it on your DVR and why did you rewatch it? What else do you hate but go back for seconds on?

At what point in the movie did you realize you hated it, and then how much more did you watch?

Wife and I just finished season 3. I thought season 1 was "ok" but it really has continually gotten better. I say stick with it.

I hadn't seen it since it first came out, and that was forever ago. Have recently watched a few documentaries on WW2 Pacific stuff so I just kinda thought it would be interesting to see again.

I watched the whole thing. :bag: I've been home puking all day though so I didn't really have much else to do.

Next movie on DVR: LA Confidential. Another movie I haven't seen since it was released. Is it any good? :oldunsure:

 I'll go through all of seasons 1 and 2 at least and then see.

There really are so few interesting characters at this point. It's all really Walter-centered and even he is not doing it for me yet. Again I do understand it is allegedly going to get better.

You 100% need to get through season 3.

My wife gave up mid first season. It can be pretty brutal but still a great show.

When you hear the opinion of people you trust, and your's happens to be the opposite, it's always worth a revisit.

I've probably listened to Pavement's Slanted and Enchanted 12 times. IMO it still sucks, but that won't stop me from listening to it a 13th time somewhere down the road.

I'm sure there's an episode of Big Bang Theory on somewhere.
I've no idea what this is. You do realize I just finished Wires and am just starting Breaking Bad, right? I don't know what you kids are watching these days.

P.S. Get off my lawn.

Terence Malick made a porno starring Jessica Alba and Kate Upton. It was 90 minutes' worth of shots of the juniper bushes outside the hotel room.

:lmao: Don't forget the out-of-focus shots of the sun coming through the trees.

The 3 minute shot of the curtains blowing? I literally jizzed myself. Twice.

See, that was the only part I didn't like...it was as if he suddenly thought he was making an action movie.
