GM's thread about nothing (54 Viewers)

Oh boy. There was some obnoxious guy, and because Walter White is dying and cool and all now, he put something in his car and made it catch on fire! Wow! You should see how upset that guy was! Boom!

This is so freaking lame.

OK, I promise not to post again until I've watched Seasons 1 and 2, if I can. This is so bad right now, but I will take GMTAN advice and tough it out.

I am without retort. I am retort less. I simply don't understand how anyone can dislike BB.

There's not many likeable characters in Breaking Bad. Walt is the bad guy/antihero.

I didn't get the hype at first either and wasn't dying to watch the next episode like I was with the wire. But I eventually became obsessed with the show. Then, when I rewatched the series, I appreciated the early stuff much more.

Without giving away any spoilers...the actor that plays the obnoxious kid goes on to be nominated 4 times Best Supporting Actor over the course of this series...winning twice...and he'll probably win again for the final season.

I think I want to report this post.

Sick at home today so I decided to catch up on random stuff I had on my DVR... The Thin Red Line, jesus christ. I guess it's been so long since I first saw it that I forgot how terrible it was. Why does this pile of dogturd have favorable reviews everywhere?
Because when they screened this movie originally for critics, your mom was blowing them all simultaneously, like 30, 40 ##### at a time. Just dongsand jizz and poo (don't ask) everywhere, and it got to the point where nobody was actually paying attention to the movie. So they all just decided to stick to the same story, which, as it happened, turned out to be right.

If you watched the movie before and hated it, why was it on your DVR and why did you rewatch it? What else do you hate but go back for seconds on?

At what point in the movie did you realize you hated it, and then how much more did you watch?
When you hear the opinion of people you trust, and your's happens to be the opposite, it's always worth a revisit.

I've probably listened to Pavement's Slanted and Enchanted 12 times. IMO it still sucks, but that won't stop me from listening to it a 13th time somewhere down the road.
Yeah I'm with you on Pavement. Good one...

This is me pretty much exactly. Didn't watch the first three seasons real time, but finally did so at the urging of people I trust. Tore through them on Netflix and was hooked. Watched the rest real time and then watched the entire series over again starting the next day.

I won't promise you'll love it but, man, I sure hope you do.

Watching Sleepers on Amazon Prime. Just realized that Bunk played Rizzo's brother, Edward G. Robinson.

Love me some Bunk.

I love good movies with different takes on things and don't mind epics, but Thin Red Line was a bunch of overwrought, try-too-hard tripe. I appreciate the good cinematography and sound and stuff, but I didn't require 3.5 hours of zen-like examples of the juxtaposition of a beautiful world stained with the violent acts of mankind. Would not watch again.

I liked Breaking Bad, but I'm rather enjoying Krista's contrarian opinion. I hope she continues to watch BUT continues to think it stinks.
"I'm so glad I sat through the rest of this 'Die Hard on TV' thing just so I could get to the simple beauty and narrative drama of The Fly episode."

Really pleased to see that GM has decided to make it official by liking Rite Aid on Facebook. :lmao:
Okay I just went to GM's page and while I didn't see that like, I look at his daughter's face in his background pic and I swear to all that is holy, that is the exact face GM made when we told him he could not walk around cos's house in his underwear carrying a bottle of BBQ sauce.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing...I assume when you say "obnoxious kid" you mean his partner, and I'm cautiously optimistic that his character will evolve and become interesting.

The scene I was referring to was when at the gas station he saw the same obnoxious guy he'd seen at the bank, and he put the squeegee under the guy's hood (not a euphemism) and his car caught on fire.

Feels like I'm watching Revenge of the Nerds VII.

Pretty sure I'm going to start the journey of rewatching Breaking Bad from the tonight

Looking forward to more of your pointed reviews

I don't remember the exact scene - but I'm talking about Jessie Pinkman.

I think I am the only person who thinks the Fly episode is one of the best in the series.

yeah, K4 is talking about the dooshbag who Walt sees at the bank and then later at the gas station. He blows up his car while he's inside. Not talking about the same thing here.

Speaking of what airlines are aloud to do, my trip next week includes a 24-hour layover in London, which I selected on purpose with the idea that I'd have a day to poke around there. But now I realize that I am flying into London City airport but out of Heathrow. Anyone (read: Krista) know if they will give me my checked bags to schlep across London, or will the airline transport them?

I'm not going to be very helpful as the only time I've checked bags is when I moved a household to Nicaragua. My assumption is that when you check in, they will check your bags to their final destination (which is what, by the way? :) ), but if in doubt you might just want to call the airline.

Final destination via air is Dublin. But I'll be tooling around the west of Ireland for most of the trip. I also selected a 9-hour layover in Paris for the same reason. I'm nuts.

Is it OK when I take my daughter to school to punch a boy in her kindergarten class in the face?? Or do I start with the kids parents first??

Came home yesterday and my wife tells me that my 5 year old had been really moody, and after school said she was having a bad day but didn't want to talk about it. I sat down with her and got her to tell me that a boy in her class named Lord (yes the little ####ers name is Lord, who the hell decides that is a good name for a kid) was making fun of her when she dropped some stuff while trying to put her coat/mittens/boots in her locker. It sounds like he has made fun of her in the past. She started crying saying she didn't want to go to school anymore.

I've done the long layover on purpose before--nothing wrong with that! Have a great trip! Be really careful in Paris, though--Charles de Gaulle is quite possibly the worst airport in the world, so allow yourself lots of time for getting out and back in. You won't end up with much time for Paris, unfortunately.

Probably shouldn't punch the kid. Have your daughter start calling him "Gay-Lord". The nickname will stick and drive the kid to suffer mental anguish throughout his life which will be worse than the pain your daughter is going through right now. Also, it will lead to him hating his parents for naming him "Lord" causing grief to the parents. Now you are able to get revenge on GayLord and his dooshy parents wthout resorting to physical violence. YIA.

What day of the week is your trip? You might be able to catch a soccer match at one of the local clubs' stadiums.
