GM's thread about nothing (33 Viewers)

I have a sales call in 10 minutes. I slept one half hour last night, because we had some major potential clients coming to town today which I had to show them around town of the facilities. I never sleep well the night before major clients coming to town.

Then tomorrow morning I get up at 6 AM to continue the tour all day and end with a big dinner and lots of drinks tomorrow night. My heart is racing because I'm so stinking tired.

apparently earlier today a Shark Pool thread was the #1 search result on Google for "Super Bowl 48 rigged". The traffic it brought caused the boards server to be overwhelmed and shut down.

We're in "performance mode" mode now to keep the boards running. This means some features like marking threads and seeing which users are browsing a thread are temporarily disabled.

Will be back to normal at some point, but better to have the boards up and not have these features than be shut down completely imo.

Sucks. I get that "night before" anxiety, too. My mind races, thinking of everything little thing I need to take care of or mention.I find that taking a sublengal B-Complex the next day helps.

Sounds like the work of Beej.

Guster >>> WTF is this Jason Isbell guy? I listened to the DBTs a long time ago but not in a while. His "Southeastern" record is fanfukcingtastic. Been listening all afternoon. This record would have been the perfect Ryan Adams record between Stranger's Almanac and Gold.

ETA: "Elephant" may be the best country ballad since "Avenues."
You've obviously been sleeping on my Alt Country thread. Huge fan. Isbell/Cooley/Hood DBT is far superior to any other version.

What do you sell?

Going with a Mr Ham/Abe joint effort.

Saw that, surprised 7k concurrent users took the forums down.

Back to business...today I had two moving companies come to give me an estimate for our move to Seattle. JFC are moves expensive?!?!! You would think I would know this, but other than moving out of the country and back, I haven't paid for my own move since 1993. It's insane. Activating self-move.

I seriously stink which means my line of "come here I have something to show you" working is nothing short of a miracle.
Perhaps Pepper has always been drawn to the smell of onions, old spice, and toe jam....?
More like smoke, booze, sausage and shame.Good news for the rest of you GMTANers.
you had me at booze.
I really should have taken a shower but the water might have been too painful to handle.

If I were a single man, I would absolutely take 10 days of vacation to put together "Ad Hoc Movers!" with Homer, Thorn, and others JimT's. We'd fly to Atlanta, go drinking, rent a UHAUL or two, go drink some more, pass out on your lawn, wake up and find the keys, hire some other guys to load the trucks while we drank, and then set off cross country for Seattle with all of your belongings.

Man, I miss being single sometimes.

Oof. I recommend hiring local movers to help you load and unload. UHaul subcontracts companies that will rent you a couple of movers for ~$50 an hour per guy. Strong backs and lots of energy.

I'm only moving ~300 miles. One company quoted me $4300 and another $2500.

I nailed that advertising presentation today, BTW. I'm sure y'all cared. Anyone in the room today would have been convinced that I knew what I was talking about and that the pages in that report that I'd randomly flagged and looked at during the presentation had actual meaningful information on them. CEO loved my first choice for the campaign, which wasn't the first choice for either my boss or the marketing VP. And I got the "I'm retiring in a couple years and you should keep up the good work" speech from our marketing VP again after it.

Think I'll get piss drunk on rum again tonight to celebrate.

That's what I did for my last move and it works out great. I have a lot more stuff now though and do not feel like driving a truck this time of year through the PA mountains. Small moves not in the winter though, and its a great idea.
