GM's thread about nothing (22 Viewers)

What car dealers just let you return a car?

"Oh hey, your wife signed a legally binding contract that you don't like so you put her back in the kitchen where she belongs and want me to take the car back? Sure, no problem, you know us car dealers are all such a generous and upstanding bunch, why wouldn't we do that?"
You have 72 hours in Missouri to change your mind.
Most states, I believe.
Pretty sure you're both wrong.http://www.huxlaw.com/3-day-right-to-return-missouri.html
Pretty sure we didn't say "any purchase."

Should be an interesting day at work tomorrow. I'm going to start it by telling someone that I don't want to be the vice president of the Austin region followed up by trying to convince an investigative reporter not to run a story (which is going to fail miserably) and then spending the afternoon playing golf with one of our biggest business partners. I'm terrible at golf but apparently the guy is a big enough drinker that I'm the only person in the company that stands a chance of staying upright through 18 holes with him. Going straight from there to a preschool graduation for JR (*gag*) which may be a challenge.

Well. Why no interest in the apparent promotion ?

Glad you asked, Abe.

First, I wouldn't love it. It would take me out of advertising/marketing/PR and more into general management. Second, there's a sales production expectation and I have a suspicion that we've about reached our maximum capacity there as a company. The only way that's going to change is if we manage to convince the legislature to do something, and if that happens I can write my own ticket from the position I'm in right now. Third, the time commitment would keep me away from some things that could lead to huge success outside of my current industry.

Some bit on ESPN about Marge Schott. One of her former employees told a reporter that she said "I'd rather have a trained monkey for an employee than a n#####."

They used the whole word, and our 1 year-old chuckled right after the sentence was completed. :oldmellow:

We have to buy a car in the next month to make room for Pennsyltucky Earp in August. My 2000 Camry probably isn't going to cut it with 2 under 14 months. When did cars get so expensive?? :(

Kids ruin everything.

The trunk's not good enough for your kids?

I have fond memories of looking at the car longingly at coshole.

Bentley for President!

It has been my experience that being the VP of anything carries with it a lot of blame and very little glory. It's also often a more politically heavy position in the company but as often lacks the job specificity to actually fix the problems you are being blamed for.

So good job telling them to take their so-called "promotion" and shove it!

I'm trying to figure out how to write down what I've done at work since mid-last week, which consists of reading three emails and writing two. I get paid the same either way, but that's kind of embarrassing. HI OTIS!!!
WTF. How do you DO this?

I should have just let GM drive it, as he was insisting he be allowed to do. Probably would have been able to total it out and get a decent check.

Wife went to buy a car today. Ended up buying a different one than the one we discussed, so I wasn't able to do any research. I just found the same model, 5 years newer, with 10k fewer miles, for $3k less. :wall:
Called the dealership for the newer vehicle- it's a flood car. No thanks,

Have you called to apologize to her yet?
For what? I didn't get angry or anything, it was just going to be a hassle. The point remains that she should have consulted with me before pulling the trigger.
