GM's thread about nothing (8 Viewers)

Not sure this is the proper thread for this, but....

My wife and I have a dog named Luke (she named him after "Cool hand" Luke). We're in the process of rescuing/adopting a 12 year old border collie named Beau (pronounced Bo). We're going to have a pair of dogs with the same names as the Dukes of Hazzard. #inadvertentredneck

Sidenote - who the hell gives up a 12 year old purebred border collie?! The note said he's had one owner.....poor guy....
Border collies are awesome. Post pics.
Will do once we bring him home this weekend. My avatar is my other dog - an Australian Cattle Dog (dressed as Yoda). An Aussie cattle dog, as a breed, is half boarder collie and half wild Australian dingo.

I know a guy that has two dogs named after characters from the Bad News Bears.
He likely did it on purpose. This was totally on accident. We also have a Australian Cattle dog (who's dressed as Yoda in my avatar). She was also a rescue from the local pound. Luckily she didn't come with the name Daisy.....
I bet that other guy doesn't even like baseball.

Per the local Humane Society, they're seeing increasing instances of older people who move into assisted living and have to give up their pets. Also lots of families who lose their homes and either can't afford to keep their pets or can't have them where they're renting.
Really hope that's the story with him. Apparently he wasn't ever given much exercise - as the first thing he did when he got to his current foster home was run and run and run as if he'd never done it before - to the point where he pulled a muscle in his back leg. We've got a few acres of fenced in yard for him to run around in. Hoping all goes well when he meets our other two dogs this weekend. Not a lot of options for a dog of his age getting adopted.

I'll bet there's an episode of All in the Family on for him somewhere.

How do you not remember who your partner was last year? Did you not confer with each other at all during the entire 9 month draft?

You're a good person to rescue an older dog.

KRISTA > the beer festival I am attending on Friday will have, as live music, a marching band. Please buy a house here by then. TIA.
I note that they are also going to be playing in Walla Walla, WA (which I can't help but mentally hear as "Why-ya Why-ya" due to the Mike Birbiglia bit). By the way, I should make an introduction between you and my friend TJ, who live in Boston but works in Portland most weeks. He's a fun guy, smart, likes to drink.

Damn Abe, DrJ does not like you much.
I just really don't appreciate him being a #### lately - there and other places - considering that I thought we were alright at one point. I kind of expect that sort of crap from the rest of you.
Lately? Pretty sure he's always been a ####.
While we're airing grievances, I'm not sure I have any idea who DrJ is; my first encounter with him in which I notice him is in the last couple of days, where he's spewing vitriol at people in the pot smoking thread for saying they don't smoke pot because they are afraid of the consequences in their jobs. He thinks we are a bunch of sissies for that. Ok I guess, but I think he posted like 73 posts in a row with that view and had to stoop to the name calling stuff. Just was weird. I figured he was a new poster but apparently not.

Every now and then some poster who I never really noticed comes out of nowhere with a shtick that makes me do a double take.

The furley vs. krista bit is weird.

I'm in Japan.

That is all.
I gave you excellent diet advice (okay, that's debatable), I told you to buy an Odyssey. It's not my fault that you choose the dumbest crap ever to register on your radar.
Big Odyssey fan. Mrs. O still won't allow it; she's not prepared for minivan status. We're splitting the difference and going with a Pilot, which prices out about the same. And buy the time we get one I think it will have all the latest gadgets.

:hifive:
We were looking at Pilots and Highlanders and ended up going with an Explorer (thanks in part to a very nice and thorough PM from Bob Sacamano). It's got the roominess of the Pilot but we thought it drove much better.
interesting. Can you fit 3 car seats across the 2nd row?
She's already preggo? :pickle: called it!!

I think Tiger did the drafting, FDAS paid the entry fee, and commisholio set the extremely tedious weekly lineups. I'm not sure they ever spoke to each other, except to ##### about the team TF drafted.

Are you strictly filling this in with returnees at the moment? El Floppo and I wanted in if you have room.
I thought I responded to TF earlier... maybe you have more clout, bl.

All of this is 100% acurate.

Oooooof. Maybe the owner just couldn't take care of him anymore, moved or is now deceased.

I'm assuming Guster will be back as my "partner" again. Although I am nervous about his new relationship with the new girl he seems to like. It seems to be serious, but I don't think he's sent her a mix tape yet.

Cosjobs on the fence as well....might need another person to join the esteemed HFFL.

She had a long drive to and from Wisconsin and wanted to hear some of the music I've been listening to. She said she liked it and I mean, she didn't break up with me a couple weeks later, so I think it went ok this time
