GM's thread about nothing (38 Viewers)

I just googled Kevin Melsby
Find anything?
Linkedin stuff. But I try to never click on those because it is how "they" get you.
Oh #### he lives in Texas and stuff. He's probably friends with Uni.
What metro area? I'm not seeing any janitorial sciences specialists, but then they might not be the LinkedIn types either.
Looks like he's the operations manager at American Airlines Center.

Just found out Amazon is opening a same day delivery distribution center in the town I live in. In.
It's actually a Sort Center. More Next Day and Second Day stuff with final mile by the USPS. Next Day stuff has late midnight cutoffs though so it's close to Same Day but not quite. It will turn on Sunday and Holiday delivery for you as well.
Huh. The local paper says it's a distribution center that will employ 300-500 seasonal employees to enable them to offer same day delivery to the Philly area.ETA: Might want to make sure your PR folks aren't getting bad info out there.
Not really a distribution center either. No inventory.

Typically it's the media that misinterprets what their buildings are for, largely because they tend to be pretty secretive about what they are doing. While it's conceivable that this building will enable some type of same day promise at some point, that is not it's primary purpose.
That and the local media pretty much ####s up everything about everything. Speaking as someone who's spent the last seven years working extensively with the media, if they get 75% of the info right in a story than it's a big win. Understandable since they're under pressure to produce a ton of content on tight deadlines on subjects that they don't really know anything about but people really shouldn't buy anything more than the general concepts they read about or see in the media.

Not being one to wear a wedding ring almost turned into a :tfp: last night.

Buddy and his GF just bought a new place and had a few people over to check it out and have dinner. It turned into a drug and booze fueled frenzy that was still going on when I left at about 9:30 this morning.

The GF had one of her friends over. It was a girl that I went to high school with. Year older then me, but we didn't know each other. Not uncommon at my HS since each class was around 900 kids. Knew the name, hot little thing that was a pom pom girl, who has held up pretty damn well over the last 25 years. Turned into a good conversation starter, where we each grew up, who we knew, etc.

She's now going through a divorce and took it upon herself to deem my presumed single cawk as the one that she was going to rebound upon. Caught me alone and made some comment about flirting with me, did a little rub up against me and went on her way knowing she's made her interest known.

About 20 minutes later, with everyone together again, she's eye ####### me across the table and I'm totally playing it up. My middle aged ### doesn't have these opportunities pop up all that often. The conversation turns to how my wife is doing and the divorcee just does the :jawdrop: as she's putting 2 and 2 together. Stops the conversation with a "whoa... wait!" and just starts into "but you.... you're not wearing..... I assumed...." My buddy just busts out laughing.

We end up apart from everyone else again and she starts apologizing, but still relentlessly schmoozing me. Still rubbing up against me, making comments about just looking for the sechs. By the end of the night, she was visibly shaking her head in disbelief that I wasn't buckling.

Amazing amount of willpower displayed by the limp one last night.

Who are you?

Hey Bob? Could you stop visiting anyone related to Miss please? Dad, Mom, Aunt (who lived with us and took care of the moppet) all within 6 weeks.

Miss just settled the will of her parents and her aunt passed away. The moppet is devastated by this one.
Horrible. Sorry, man.

Manhunter is on TMC. Just finishing up.

By far the best adaptation of any of the Hannibal Lecter books.
I'll take Silence of the Lambs but this is #2. Nothing is close to those two. That prequel was one of the worst books I've ever read. Only one of two books in hisotry I've thrown across the room after reading.

Our German exchange student just commented that they don't have good bagels in Germany. I passed on making the Emo Philips joke; "well whose fault is that??"

Professional family photos at a park this morning. So much drama. Glad we don't do these more often.

Yuke makes his soccer debut this afternoon. I'm coaching. At this point, he crumples into a screaming heap in the floor every time I put his shin guards on. Should be big fun.

Sounds like he's ready for World Cup action. Is he a biter, too?

Me: This is the worst movie I've ever seen. Even Stringer Bell sucks; that last sequence he acted like his nose just itched.

Him: It's awful. But just wait because ####### giant robots are going to fight ####### giant monsters.
you just summed up 4 pages of discourse about PR in the FFA video thread with those two comments.

ftr- I thought it was useless. a bunch of the typical movie snobs in there replied with- your expectations were too high, wtf were you expecting? me... something that didn't suck. them... giant robots fighting aliens!.... me...

My senior year of high school I took Animal Behavior because it was supposed to be an easy A (great movie, btw). I chose a turtle because I figured that would be the easiest. But then I lost the turtle in the school courtyard somehow. I told the teacher I bought a new one but I really didn't and I made the entire semester worth of observations for my report and still got an A.

99% sure I've already told this story. Shut it down>
Greatest Story Ever Told (also a mediocre movie, btw)

:goodposting: They also will just "research" by reading other articles and simply repeating what's in them as fact. I dealt with this extensively in a prior life and became extremely jaded by how poor the reporting is.

I miss that thread. Haven't been there in ages. I get nervous when I leave the GMTAN.

Hired a babysitter last night for the first time in...well, since before I was divorced I guess. My parents usually help us out there and there and when it was just us and the boys, we could always ask Flags to swap nights (for however negative I've been about my ex in the past, one thing she's done incredibly well is remain flexible with our custody...big props). But last night, parents were booked, my sister is out of the question and so we hired a HS gal my mother knows to watch Hazel and the boys while we went out to a party. Sweet little thing, about the size of my thumb and allergic to things I didn't even know existed (she couldn't eat the pesto we made, had to put the cat outside, etc).

However she had never changed a diaper before and while we were quite certain Hazel was done 'going' for the day by the time she got to our house, sure enough Hurricane Hazel delivered a massive loaded diaper before bedtime that apparently required all three of the remaining house occupants to change. They got it done, but it was pretty funny this morning when Hazel woke up with her diaper on backwards.
