  • I just ran some numbers w/ ideal gas law. to get from 12.5 PSI to 10.5 PSI takes a drop in temperature of 87 degrees F, so we rule out natural depressurization.
:lmao:
:lmao: AWESOME.
Might be the best thing ever posted in the pool. :lmao:
Total shtick, though, right? Moleculo seems like a solid FFA'er.

that's what I thought too. has to be schtick.

I have volunteered to run a bar trivia game for the investment group I belong to. Probably 25-40 people will attend. I'm thinking 5 rounds/3 questions each round/several different categories. Pretty standard stuff, but would like the focus to be on business/stocks/current events. Doesn't have to be, but obviously, this is for an alternative investment association, so want to keep it centered around that arena.

Question: Where would be a good place to come up with trivia questions? Other than reading the WSJ or creating questions on my own, would be nice to find a reservoir of ready questions to create a game. Thoughts? Advise?

1. How long is the game/meeting supposed to last?

2. How hard do you want the questions?

I created a bunch of trivia questions for my Econ class this summer. All of the questions were business/econ related but linked to other stuff like pop culture, sports, entertainment.

"This app/game boasted $600K in-app purchases each month in the year 2013 (or whatever)"

"According to Forbes...what is the most valuable sports franchise in the world as of 2014?"

etc

"Closest to the nearest dollar without going over: Assuming normal construction activity levels, in the Pacific NW, how much would a five-pie brick pizza oven cost to have built?"

"This variety of raisins currently sells at a 14% premium over other varieties."

"The American essential oils market in 2014 was estimated to be: $250 million, $500 million, $1 billion or $5 billion?"

Love it! That's exactly what I'm gunning for. I am kind of excited to create my own questions too, but having some at the ready would be perfect. I'm thinking of running it like bar trivia up at my local tavern, only not AS long as we have limited time.

- 5 Rounds Total

- 3 Questions each round

- 1 minute to answer each question

- Each team wagers either 1,3 or 5 points per question, more points for the answer you are most sure of. You can only use that point value once on your answer.

- Bonus question at the end of every round for 1 point.

I'd envision this lasting 45 minutes tops. Will pair people up in groups of two and hand out pens/note-pads for their answers. Questions in the rounds will require a specific answer, bonus questions will be something like "What is today's closing price for an ounce of gold" and rewarding one point for 1/2 the teams that are closest to the right answer.

you're hired.

And your help will garner a box of Portland supplies!!!!

A couple of other good topic for questions is business history/origins and advertising.

"What Japanese entertainment company was founded in 1889 as a producer of playing cards?"

"What online retailer was originally going to be called Cadabra.com?"

"Jon Hamm is currently the "voice" for what car company?"

etc

maybe so. didn't seem that way

also now an apparently serious slap fight between rockaction and bostonfred

Another approach is to just ask typical trivia questions but all of the answers follow a financial theme...."money" "cash" "rich" "stock" "pound" "franc(k)" "gold" "jew" etc

deadly serious.

I think there's a chicken or egg issue with egg salad. If you tried egg salad first and liked it, you probably still like it. But I didn't, so I'm pretty sure egg salad just tastes like farts.
