GM's thread about nothing (25 Viewers)

IF THE DEALER IS GIVING YOU 8000 FOR YOUR CAR THAT WHOLESALES FOR 6000, HE MADE UP THAT MISSING 2000 IN WHAT HE CHARGED YOU FOR THE NEW CAR. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THE DEALER WILL NOT "LOSE" 15% ON A NEW CAR TRANSACTION, BUT DO SO IN THE USED PART?
You make some vaild points- esp. for extremely popular cars, but my other comments are in CAPS above.
I don't really think the dealer made up for the 2000 in the new car sale. New car price was negotiated prior to the trade in on my vehicle, two completely separate negotiations. I am willing to bet the dealer made a profit on my trade in, that's all fine. I was satisfied with my trade in value. I didn't have to place an ad, get phone calls day and night, have to deal with the next poor shmuck that realized that the drivers side power window doesn't work most of the time, and that there was a knock in the engine, etc...Also, where did I say that I believed he would lose 15% on the sale of my trade in? I said I'm sure if he put a little work into it, he could probably have received 9,500 for it. People pay more for used cars at dealers. A dealer can offer a 12 month limited warranty. Guru_007 cannot, as I am not a mechanic, nor do I have 15 on my payroll. I don't believe dealerships lose money on trade in's, I believe there is a pretty good profit margin in them actually, quite a bit more than new cars. Plus, they don't have to promise the manufacture that they will move an x-amount of model per year. They may look at how long they sit on the lot, but that is the only cost really.I used to be fairly adamant about not trading in cars, preferring private sale. that was until I really did the math and factored in the cost to me of selling a car, having to meet someone to test drive it, waiting for someone to make an offer. Also, it's pretty easy to show that getting 8500 for a trade in is better than 10000 in private sale.Everyone likes a bargain, myself included. But what I like more than a bargain (sometimes) is time and headaches saved.

Baby Einstein is for the parents, not the kids. Kids are hypnotized by them. I don't give two craps it it helps then m develop or not

The only vehicles you can get 15% below invoice are those no one wants. If you get a popular mazda version like a 3 or 6, no way you'll get 15% below invoice. Sales guy was right, they will go out of business doing that. Sure there are dealer hold backs and manufacturer incentives, but these likely total below 10%. MAYBE TRUE FOR SOME CARS, BUT NOT NECESSARILY IN ALL MARKETS. YOU MUST REALLY LOOK AND SEARCH AROUND TO FIND OUT. TRUCKS SELL MUCH EASIER IN THE SOUTH THAN THEN NORTH. BUT SOUTHERN DEALERS ORDER MANY MORE THAN NORTHERN DEALERS AND MORE LIKELY TO HAVE EXCESS STOCK. MANY AREAS HAVE INVENTORY TAX THAT THE DEALER MUST PAY AT CERTAIN TIMES, INCENTIVIZING THEM TO LOSE MONEY (ON PAPER). WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS A CONFLUENCE OF FACTORS THAT CREATE A SITUATION MOST BENEFICIAL TO YOUR PURCHASE. THIS JUST INVOLVES A LOT OF LOOKING AND CALLING TO DEALERSHIPS. ALSO, MANY DEALERSHIPS WILL GIVE A SMOKING DEAL TO AN OUT OF TOWNER, WHOM THEY KNOW WILL NEVER DARKEN THEIR DOORWAY WITHOUT GREAT PRICING,

You make some vaild points- esp. for extremely popular cars, but my other comments are in CAPS above.
Sure, you will get a deal by shopping around, but this takes time. not sure about your last sentence though. Most dealerships I would think would prefer you to be local, so they can service your car. Car maintenance and service is a huge profit center for a dealership. I dunno though

That being said, I'm pretty sure Ive gone from fun boozer to full-blown alcoholic since March. :kicksrock:

I can count on one hand how many times I've gone two days in a row without drinking. And I'm not talking about having a few beers, I mean absolutely hammered.

And yes, I'm moderately drunk right now...and I plan to keep going until I can't see. :banned:
I actually kept track since the beginning of the year and although bad, I'm not that bad. The good news from my blood test is my liver is still in great shape. I'm holding on the bad news for now. BTW, thanks for returning my text yesterday, ****.
I only read thru the end of this page, but it seems no one picked up on this. What bad news SLB?

Copa America >>>>>> Women's World Cup.
either Mexico quit or Chile is really good
Chile is pretty solid, but Mexico sent their "B" team to Copa America. Everyone's under 23 except 5 players, I think Costa Rica did the same thing.
ah. for a while there it looked like Chile was fielding a superteam. they were pressuring so much in the 2nd half that it felt like an NBA blowout.

Let us know when you have the backardigans theme song down pat.
We've got the whole wide world in our yard to explooooooooooooooorrrrrre. And Tyrone is greatness.
Any time I move something in the family room my daughter says I am strong like Tyrone.
There's a wife joke in there, but this thread hasn't been safe lately.

Sneaky good source of hot ferns on the TV today is this Australia vs Norway soccer game. My goodness....
I'm a big fan of the Australian accent. Maybe second on my list behind Scottish.Coming in last is a Somali accent.
is that the one with the whistles and clicks?
Yeah, I think so.
Love the Aussie accent on a chick. Not particularly fond of the Vietnamese accent, however.

Me neither. Especially since they used to shoot at my Dad.

Just dropped my wife off at the airport as she goes to Milwaukee for a couple of days. She tells me "Hey, I was trying to search for something on your computer...."   "... and I opened IE and couldn't get anything to work. And then I got all kinds of error and stuff."

She breaks more mechanical devices without trying than any person I have ever met. Cars, computers, phones, staplers, vacuums, nothing is safe from her destruction.

On the flip side, you get a couple days without her.

The Mazda 5 looks like something out of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. How many hotdogs can I make out of 600 pounds of menapausal human females?
Come on...you are dying to share your write-ups on your sisters. :popcorn:If it helps, I'll share why I don't much like my brother: he's a dickmitten.
:goodposting:
You know my brother?
no, but if you say he's a dickmitten, well by god, he's a dickmitten. Also hoping Chaos would share more about his sisters....I only have one, and that's enough.

On the bummer side, the computer is now broken. #notube8

Saw a bumper sticker on the way to the office, American flag and it said "America Bless God".

First time I have seen it in that order, and I don't quite understand the message. Doesn't God have plenty of personal blessings, enough to share with others as he sees fit?

Oh, it will be fixed. It WILL be fixed.

They deserved to lose. When did we start sucking at women's soccer too? At least the USA will always have dog soccer.
They had plenty of chances, especially in the 1st half. How many missed shots did they have? Some poor defensive efforts early, too. Sweden played well, I thought.
20-6 advantage in shots for US, but only 6-5 US in terms of shots on goal. Time of possession was 53-47% US.Argentina/Colombia on the Spanish-language channels tonight at 8:45 ET.

I'm all for gambling on women's soccer, but actually discussing women's soccer (in here) seems wrong.

I guess I'll come back tomorrow and hope for something better. The only thing worse than the news being dominated by a white trash trial in Florida is discussion of women's sports.
