GM's thread about nothing (38 Viewers)

Knowing Stu, the update will probably be her saying, "I have this really hot cousin id like to bring in the bedroom with us. Is that OK, my little Stewypoo?"

Otiks> I'd say it's OK so long as you're not burdening her with it. Getting trashed and making her drive home if you guys are out, or something.

Lots of dudes with preggers wives in here. Quick question -- do you guys give up booze to support the cause? She's struggling with this (not because she's an alcoholic in the technical sense, but we're drinkers), and I have said a few times I would quit with her, but she tells me that's silly. I've got the out here, but I still feel guilty every time I pour a scotch or glass of wine at home. What's protocol here?TIA
:lmao: practicality dictated a cutback during the first few months but only to the point of not getting inebriated. couldn't have my wife sick/unable to take care of the baby and me be ####-hammered trying to feed the kid/change a diaper.

Pretty sure that would be the only way I could attempt said acts.

Saw a blonde dude at beach yesterday wearing a green and gold Oregon visor. He had two little blonde kids with him. I'll feel really bad if that was you because I didn't say 'hi' or anything.
Lotta blond Oregon fans with kids...pretty sure this is the Iceland of the USA.
Good point. What do you know about Sun River?
I know a thing or two about Sun River. It's about 15 miles south of Bend, which is home to Deschutes Brewery and plenty of other cool places. Sun River is an emormous resort community in the central part of the state and offers all kinds of outdoor activity....hiking, rafting, skiiing, horseback riding, golf...that's just to name a few. The resort is the 'crown jewel' of Sun River and has many large swimming pools to splash around in (I think they have a giant wave rider pool that is totally kick butt). Plus, there are bike trails ALL OVER, so if you like riding your bike, this place is ideal (and safe!). The way to go is to rent a house. There is no shortage of houses for rent in Sun River and you can get anything from an older house for $150 a night to a pimped out crib with an arcade and a bidet for quite a bit more. Google Sun River Properties or Village Properties or VRBO. If you have more than one family to vacation with, this is absolutely a no brainer. My co-worker just got back and spent $225 per night on a 4BR house with a hot tub, bikes in the garage and club memberships to both Sun River and Mavericks (which allows you to use their pools, gyms and spas). Mavericks is where the wave rider pool is, so when looking for a rental, make sure the owner offers access here.

And Sun River is a great place to base if you want to explore the region. There is just no shortage of options, from roaring rapids to Lava Cave State Park. Mt. Bachelor is close and you can ski, hike, explore one of the best slopes in Oregon. Or you can just drink a lot of beer and enjoy looking at tall trees and birds. :lmao:

Good info, thanks. We have a big family reunion every 2 or 3 years. We've got kinfolk from WA state down to Ventura and everywhere in between. We're looking at Sun River for the next one. All of the Pac NW people have been really good about coming down to California over the last 15 years or so. I guess it's time for us to move it north.

GM, you should be embarrassed about your Ducks.

Jeremiah Masoli, who helped Oregon to the 2009 Pac-10 title before being suspended in March and ultimately booted from the program in June, will play his final college season at Ole Miss.

Masoli visited the Oxford, Miss., campus this weekend, and Rebels coach Houston Nutt offered Masoli a place on the team, which is down to two scholarship quarterbacks after backup Raymond Cotton decided earlier this month to transfer. Masoli, from Daly City, Calif., will be a walk-on because the Rebels already have reached the NCAA's 85-scholarship limit. He is eligible to play immediately because of an NCAA rule that allows players who have obtained bachelor's degrees to transfer to schools that offer graduate programs their current schools don't offer. Masoli graduated from Oregon this month with a degree in sociology. Pending approval of his transcript, Masoli will enroll in the Parks and Recreation master's program at Ole Miss, and he will compete with redshirt sophomore Nathan Stanley for the starting job when practice begins Aug. 8.
What kind of football school doesn't offer a Parks and Recreation Masters program?
I find that quite shocking, actually. This state is full of parks and recreation and rangers. Bet Oregon State has one.

So ready for Football Season :thumbup:Thursday night game to open the season and drop the banner.....off to Vegas the next morning. :banned:
you drafting this year?
No...just going with a bunch of buddies to gamble. Honestly, I doubt I'll even swing by one of the two high stakes events b/c we're only there Fri-Sun. You?
I'm heading out Wed, leaving late on Saturday. Probably only going to the FFPC events on Friday but not sure if I'm drafting yet or not.Where you staying?

I just found all the Il était une fois… videos! Already grabbed man and space and are trying to grab human next, but it's hard to find.

Not sure if it ran over here, but it's great learning for kids: Linky
Are all those words in the right order?
maybe... Il était une fois… is a French animated TV-series, released in 3 versions, man (describing history), space (science fictionish) and human (talking about physiology).

It was awesome when I grew up, and I learned a ton, so I downloaded the episodes for my daughter.
Do I need to teach my sons French? This actually sounds great. With all your tech fancy skills, can you rip me a copy of all and fax it over?

I'd rather talk to you about it in person, but the phone will be ok..

It's ok. I have to run an errand right now, and then I have an appt. from 2-3, but you can call me after that if you want to.
You better hope this is about Amway or Scientology...

Booking in advance, you guys could get a smoking deal on a really sweet house that fits everybody in comfortably. You can fly into Bend, but it might be expensive. It's a 3 hour drive from Portland. But once you are there, you'll have no problem relaxing and enjoying your time. Summer or winter.

LOL, no French, but Swedish in this case. I am teaching my daughter Swedish, so she'll be bi-lingual...I can find the English speaking version though, since they dubbed it to each language during production...

When did "Hang Me Out to Dry" by Cold War Kids become ubiquitous? Have now heard it 4x this weekend in 4 different bars. For the record, I can't decide if I like it or not. Pretty sure I dig the chorus and the rest is pretty meh.
CWK are great. Cousin saw Black Keys in Brooklyn this weekend and said it was the best show he has ever seen. Bummed i missed it.
Saw BKs open for Pearl Jam iin late May and they were great. Saw them this week at Summerstage in Central Park and they were even better. Longer set, beautiful evening, was just top notch all the way around. I ####### love Summerstage on a beautiful summer evening. Might be my favorite venue in NYC.
The melted my face last thursday at Terminal 5. great fn show.

This trip we had close to 60 people. We'd probably need 6 or 7 houses. Driving from Cen Cal wouldn't be out of the question. We would break it up into two 6 hour legs staying one night in Sacto or the Bay Area. But then again it's 3 years from now. I could win the lottery between now and then.

GM> Here's a preview of the first part of Episode 1:

Let me know if you want me to pull down the English version... I think it's 24 episodes or so, each 30-ish minutes long.

Here's a preview of "The Americas"

It's not a comprehensive learning experience by any means, but it's a good way to raise interest and get them to ask questions about more things to learn about the eras...

If any family members see this in here, please keep it on the super DL.
What family is here?
Close cousins.
Otiscousins> show yourselvesCongrats to you, Otis. I bet you'll be a cool dad.
Please let it be a girl who grows into the hottest 16 year old to grace the NY city streets and Otis gets a taste of life from the other side of the screen. :goodposting:
Absolutely, positively my worst nightmare. :lmao:

Yep, Youre gonna need to go buy a gun so you can clean it when the 15 year olds start coming over. Make sure she gets into sports. Girls in sports have a higher value of themselves and dont get taken advantage of as easy. No Schtick

:wall: I'm in this boat... not looking forward to that at all. Sports is key, and I'm thinking horses + golf...

I would go with martial arts and competitive shooting.

I've had this same thought. I'd also think this is true for girls who are into music, specifically guitar. Just a hypothesis.
