GM's thread about nothing (37 Viewers)

I would like a title of nobility, can i just start calling my self Sir Stoneys from now on? Is this allowed in America? Is there some kind of list that has everyone who is legally a noble? Does it matter? My home is my castle, so why can' I?

So I'm at a party on Friday, and they have jungle juice. Haven't had this stuff in years. Guy starts talking about how back in the day whenever they had jungle juice at a party, a multitude of fraternity brothers would put their own special "seasoning" in it.

Needless to say, I passed on the jungle juice.

Man, this is going to sound horrible but I just can't help it.

I went to junior high with this one female student's mom. Back in the day the mom was one of the best looking girls in the whole school. She continued that trend up into HS and is still easy on the eyes.

Let's just say I'm having hard time believing this girl in my class is her daughter. For the last week I've been trying to figure out who this kid looks like. She really, really reminds me of somebody. It finally hit me about 10 minutes ago.

I'm not kidding

Oh yeah, the waitress's remembered me from last year. I was more than a little taken aback when I went for the first round of drinks only to hear "Hi Bobby! How have things been!?!"

CondoGuys.

How do you know if a HOA has enough funds in its reserves? What's a good dollar amount? And is that amount based on the number of units and amenaties in the complex?

I'll hang up and listen.

Why does Joe B hate Mac computers?

The inability to use a Mac with the VBD and DD is ridiculous, I'm not installing software to boot in pc mode just for fantasy football. You would think with all of the money being made by Joe that he would invest some into making his software more mac friendly.

Hi cgrdrjoe, One of the features we have new for this year is the cheatsheet generator for Mac Users http://subscribers.footballguys.com/2010/p...umdownload9.php It's still in BETA and it's not as good as the Draft Dominator for PC yet but it's a start.

Well how bout having an option for stats in DD being based on 3 year projections so it's useful in start-up Dynasty leagues? I mean $30 isn't exactly a drop in the bucket.

That's a good suggestion. We'll look at that for next year.J

thanks Joe but it actually doesn't work with any of the current microsoft excel softwares :P So while it will load my information it will not produce a cheatsheat. Now normally I may not care however this year my work league has some of the most screwed up scoring options so I was hoping to use it to help me figure out what to do.

MoP's signing bonus has them a little cash strapped this fiscal.

Yeah I understand that. But honestly how hard would it be to have whoever does the projections put together a 3 year average. Next year :goodposting:

NEXT YEAR :)

I'm a paying subscriber. Have been for a decade. I expect a little bit more than next year.

Got some pictures back from the wedding we went to in Detroit last week. Serious question: What is wrong with me?
Absolutely nothing. You would make the coolest friend EVER.
Forrest doesn't do good on a white background, it took me 20 minutes to find him in that picture.
It's a good thing he married the tan one. If he went for the sister, their kids would probably be translucent.
Pretty sure that's Tanner on the far right. Almost positive.

I'm sorry, Man. We'll keep trying to get it better. The cross platform stuff has been more difficult than we thought it would be. Bruce is working on it. We were hesitant to release what we had as we knew there were some issues but figured it would be best to at least get it out there and start learning from it. Thanks for the feedback.J

Sorry, but that's the reality of where we are a week before the season starts and drafts are over. That's always the thing about answering questions. If you don't say anything, you're accused of ignoring. If you give the honest answer, it's not good enough sometimes. Went with the answer.

Why is everyone groping her belly?
That's the first thing I noticed, though GM seems to be pointing at it, or flipping off the camera, I'm not sure which. Also, I feel like I'm looking at a picture of the cast for a new sitcom, with GM playing the role of the goofy Kramer-like character.

Serious question re: FF, specifically projecting/valuing every-down RB's. I'm just going to post it here, since I don't really like the SP and I'm only a casual player playing in a casual/dopey league.

As an example, the projections for Chris Johnson all seem to be around 2000 total yards, 14-15 TD, 40-45 catches link. But given the relatively high probability of injury for every-down RB's (and for less-skilled RB's, losing carries), aren't these too high? Shouldn't a projection, essentially, be a midpoint of all possible outcomes? How often will Johnson exceed this projection? Maybe 10-15%? Even my GB MOP says in the FBG spotlight:

2,000 total yds and 15 Tds plus his receptions. He is a no brainer as the #1 RB off the board. He is the 2nd coming of Marshall Faulk with less weapons around him. Johnson has the best chance to hit 2,000 total yds and 15+ Tds in the league, you're a fool to pass him with the #1 pick. And I am trying to be conservative in the projections but it's hard to project much worse. Only thing that can stop him is an injury and how can you project that out?
Well, it's possible, isn't it? The consensus seems to be around 320 points in a PPR league, but shouldn't it be around 280? 270?

what exactly is going on in here? has joe become the ombudsman for this thread?

I just assumed that GM impregnated that poor bridesmaid, thus the fondling of her belly.

I don't think you should have responded to this post, for one simple reason: You are simply not intelligent enough to grasp what I'm saying. There are no NFL players who have an injury probability of 0%. None. Maybe kickers are close. And not just injury, but the probability that a player will have a bad year. Is 1450 yards, 8 TD, 25 catches the midpoint for Cedric Benson this year? Just taking total yards, will Benson be over 1450 50% of the time? Would everyone take the under on that?

Johnson was a bad example, because his injury and "collapse" probabilities (to borrow a term from BP) are somewhat low.

Taking over a team in my old league and I can keep one guy that was drafted in the 5th round or later. His team sucked and my choices are Donald Driver or Hines Ward. Was leaning toward Driver but now I'm thinking Ward. Percy Harvin is an option as well, I guess.

Thoughts?

I feel wrong posting this in here, especially since I'm taking the year off from FF. I used to do my own VBD style spreadsheets and the way I used to do it would be to project the best possible outcome for any given player. I would then modify that by the liklihood of injury and an "X" factor. The X factor would include things like a high draft pick rookie backup behind the player, QB concerns for a WR, etc. This would give me a modifed projection that I would then hold against a baseline for the position to generate the value of that player. I once had a conversation with Joe years ago that leads me to believe they do something similar.

In my Big Money League, Driver went 6.02 and Ward went 6.09  <<<<<<OUR VIEW>>>>>>

Driver is #2 in a pass-heavy offense with a ton of weapons but has put up 1000+ yards in all but one season since 2002. Ward is #1 without a QB for at least the first 5 weeks and his stats are a pretty similar. Both should get you around 800-1000 yards and 6-ish TDs. Pretty sure you'll be ok with either as a low end WR2/high WR3.
