GM's thread about nothing (37 Viewers)

I have a flu/cold, and just had a near-miss. I think my anoos reached over the fence and brought the poop back to save a homer.

There is a 5 page thread titled "THIS SUMMER! grant us all the power to drink on top of water towers".Am I the only one (other than GM I am sure) that doesn't have a clue what this means?
Hold Steady fan club thread. They're a rockin' little band.

Dexter is one of the best shows of all time, I believe. I give a lot of credit for LOST to doing it on network TV, but Dexter is one anyone should catch up on immediately. You can get all seasons on Netflix besides the last one and all are good, save the Jimmy Smitz season. Last season wasn't that incredible, but it was better than I expected, especially after the masterpiece they produced last year with John Lithgow.

It's not currently on and will be on Showtime when it starts back up next Summer, but it's BY FAR the best series anyone could chose to catch up on.

15-47-4-25-8mega = ??? (missed it)ETA: 42So if nobody wins, Friday will be the biggest lottery ever - $480 million
I thought it was 44. I didn't hit, regardless. My Megaball # is and will always be 13, unless I do quick picks. Will hit it Friday and throw a party in Vegas for the GM thread.

bananafish was here TLF
I'm assuming this is Tanner, SLB, Homer, Truck, or one of the other often banned members.

B Layne- re TV: lots of good, rerun comedies on IFC- Larry Sanders just started up, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks (which I'm only seeing for the first time now), Undeclared. Also just noticed Ovation is running Firefly (another show I'm getting to see for the first time).

We also like Dexter on Showtime- silly show, but lots of fun to watch. Californication is also fun- Sex and the City for guys.

We DVR The Soup on E.

Other than that.... Phineas and Ferb is probably the best show on TV.

There are probably thousands of people who still play the numbers from LOST (4-8-15-16-23-42) in the lottery, even though it's the stupidest number to play, because if you ever won the jackpot, you'd be sharing it with a ridiculous number of people. But that stupidity was rewarded yesterday, when they got $150 for hitting three numbers and the megaball in the megamillions jackpot. Congratulations, nerds.

Anyone ever been through an IRS audit? The future Mr. YSR had some pretty complicated 2009 taxes (6-7 rental properties, moved from TN to FL, opened a small business, and so on) so he was one of the lucky ones to get picked.

He had to go in at 8:00 this morning and the letter states that he should expect to be there for 6-8 hours :jawdrop:

I think that this phrase contains a poetic truth that is more penetrating the what the literal words describe. I like it.If I find out that it is a line from a Blues Traveler song or something, I'll puke all down the front of my shirt.

Unbelievably, I don't hate that song. There is a part of me that instantly responds to rockin'-but-sentimental bits of Americana in the early-Wilco/Replacements/Springsteen continuum. Sadly, there is also a larger, louder part of me who listened to Big Black every morning for a year and does not approve.

AMC is going to run Breaking Bad from the beginning starting some time this week. It might be tonight. I missed like half the first season so I think I'll rewatch it all.

Really? It sounds like a line from a Kid Rock song.
I've made it this far without knowing what more than a few seconds of a Kid Rock song sounds like, I might as well shoot for making it the rest of my life.

Our business did a couple of years after we started. At the end the auditor even agreed it was retribution from somebody. People wonder why I hate the gubbermment.I think it lasted 6 weeks. It was not pleasant. GLGB

There were two people who won it last night
;) I should've played the LOST numbers.Yeah, when I heard "$355MM" I assumed that was the projected number for Friday, not the actual jackpot for last night because that was projected to be $290MM the last time I had checked.

sorry.is it wrong of me to, after I see that I didn't win, be happy when no one else wins (unlike last night)? I'm not sure if I'm thinking "good, I have a chance to win next time" or a "good, if I'm not getting it, I sure as hell don't want someone else to get it"

Isn't that the default? I actually feel a little down when it doesn't roll over.Back to $12M? FML, that's not even enough to retire...

(OK, it is...but I mean I'M GOING ON A WORLD CRUISE FOR THREE YEARS! retire)

Yeah, I always have a Powerball ticket. $2 a week. The ONLY days I'm upset after realizing I didn't win are the days where it rolls back to $20 million. I don't mind someone else winning it... not unless I read one of the stories about some redneck in South Dakota working a gas station register and talking about how he won't leave his job. I get upset knowing THAT guy won it, but I'm usually just upset the jackpot didn't increase for "my next chance."

Agreed. It's hard to have a secret lair, or minions, on a lousy $12 million.
You can hardly get a drawbridge and moat for that these days.
So let's say I win Friday.Right off the bat I feel like crap because I missed the $380M jackpot (apparently it was bigger than they expected). But of course its not $12M, the cash option is $7.5M.Fed (35%) + NYS (8.97%) + NYC (3.648%) = $3,928,650.I can't even get a Manhattan townhouse with that; what am I supposed to do, buy a brownstone in Brooklyn?Settle for $2.5M loft in Soho? Not to mention I'm still flying commercial...

Sadly I didn't win the Megawhatever. But I was at the store at about 7:55 last night just by coincidence. I asked the clerk if I could still buy a $5 quickpick ticket for that night's drawing. Turns out I was a couple of minutes late. So now I have a ticket for Friday's drawing. Watch I win.

My favorite part of the lottery is how the non-regulars turn up their nose at 50-60mm, it's only when it gets to 200+ that people can be bothered to buy a ticket. :lmao:

:blackdot: The math geeks that only play "because now the jackpot is big enough that it's +EV" always make me :lmao:

By the way, if I set the Tivo to record, any way I can differentiate between repeats and new episodes?

It only took me a month to prove to the manufacturer that this code AR2 is on their website for gray and I received maroon.

On the plus side I now have some sweet free maroon tackboards.
Hey genius, you linked to AR1, which is gray. The AR2 is henna, which is maroonish.
Yeah, I forgot to add the screen shot.
Are you telling me that on your screen, AR2 is not called henna and not maroon-looking?
