GM's thread about nothing (24 Viewers)

I just pulled off food service for a banquet for 475 people with a staff of four.
I think this is my Super Bowl party.Incogneto, does the fact you're here now mean you made it through the whole thread?
Krista, I may have missed it but are you having the affair catered?
:wall: This is the scary part (or one of many). Mr. krista4 is cooking all of it. He's a fantastic chef, but this is a lot to ask.
I'm making Mexican food. Mostly tacos with various fixin's. Menu looks like this so far:Appetizer-type stuff:Pork tamalesCheese and pepper tamalesCevicheGuacamole, chipsTaco-type stuff:CarnitasBarbacoa de resPollo tingaLengua de resChorizo con papasVegetable fajitasFixin':Salsa verdeSalsa rojaRoasted corn and chipotleRice, beansPico de galloPickled onionsPickled radishesMango salsaBeverage-stuff:SangriaMargaritas Happily, nearly everything can be made at least two days in advance, so Sunday I'll just have to deal with the veg fajitas, the guacamole, steaming the tamales, and cutting the limes, and bringing everything back up to temperature in a way that doesn't screw up the texture or give everybody food poisoning. It is gonna rock.
I can't believe no one has commented on this delicious spread.

Good luck to all you fools in snow territory. Don't die please.
can't wait for the snow. :wall:
A major blizzard the National Weather Service is calling “life-threatening” is on its way to the Chicago area, also bringing along strong winds that could send 18-foot Lake Michigan waves onto Lake Shore Drive Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
yikes. We're supposed to get around a foot of snow here (NE IN), unless it comes in as ice instead.

I'm guessing any deaths will be due more to stupidity than the weather.

SLB, I want to donate to your cause but may have to wait a couple of weeks before I can do so. When is the deadline?
No way. You are too sweet as usual.BTW, gentlemen, I spoke to YSR on the phone a month or so ago. Her voice could melt butter.
Is it all Southern-y?
OH YEAHI think she gave me diabetes.
An odd-ball amount given for Bob's walk in memory of my little buddy Shining Path.
 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Thanks GB!

Why do you think I wished you good luck?

18 foot waves on Lake Michigan sounds like a pretty epic swell though.
Yeah they are talking about some major stuff here too. It is being described as the 82 snow storm meets the 06 ice storm. We lost power for 5 days in 06 and there are talks that we could lose power for a long time including on Sunday. I may be walking in Memphis.Of course I bought a generator after the 2006 debacle but I've never used it. Pretty safe odds I'll seriously hurt myself trying to figure out how to use it.To further prepare, I made an appointment to get a massage at 2 today.

Here is what our Weather Alert says:
Snow Accumulations...4 To 7 Inches Of Accumulation This Afternoon Into Tuesday. Additional 15 To 17 Inches Tuesday Night Into Wednesday With Storm Totals Around 2 Feet In Some Areas
 IF we get all this, it will be unreal. However I'm guessing they miss and we only get 6-8"

Was up against the stage for a Hold Steady concert tonightHad the scariest concert moment everThe girl staggered against me, i caught her and looked at herHer eyes rolled up into the back of her head and she dropped like a sack of potatoesShe actually ended up UNDER the stage as there was empty space thereSecurity pulled her out of the crowd, but it was nuts
Did the paramedics hover over her like a somber mourning family?

No, they just took her to the chillout tent. They gave her oranges and cigarettes.

They spent the whole next week getting high.**Those are the only two HS songs I know.

Good God did I just make a terrible mistake.......

My daughter was telling me some guy at her college is being an ######## and pissing her off in a text. I told her to "straighten his ### out and let him know why he's pissing you off, either that or lick him in the nuts."

:lmao:

Damn sausage fingers

Both approaches could change his attitude for the better.

Email received this afternoon from my boss

I have been approached a couple times already about Wednesday morning if we get hit hard with snow. Do not waste any time watching the news in the morning to see if school is out for OurCompany, it will not be because there are no such things as snow days in the adult world. We already have a two day warning that snow is coming, and that means the plows will be out and the roads will be fine. If people need extra time to get out of their driveways that's ok but the weather is not going to be an acceptable excuse to take the day off

PICS?

Oh yeah, Cal learned how to play Monopoly Saturday night. He was the winner and promptly made himself a ribbon from a scratch pad with the word "won" on it. Yesterday he layed some blankets on the floor of his room "so an adult can stay there like a hotel and pay me rent."

You shouldn't have to around here. We got 18 inches back in 1982 and that was the most by far in modern history.
