Exchange I had a few minutes ago with a student. Not only is she a ditz she loves to play the role. She also is constantly interrupting. After having to deal with her 4 or 5 times in 10 minutes I'd had enough.

We're watching a video and there was a scene showing a 21 gun salute at a funeral:

Girl: (totally interrupting the voiceover on the vid) Why do they shoot at funerals?

Me: Drew, (yeah, a girl named Drew) quiet down.

Girl: But I just want to know...

Me: OK, but just wait until after the video.

Girl: All I want to know is why they shoot at funerals?

Me: It's a warning.

Girl: A warning for what?

Me: "You're next".
Would it have been so hard to say "That's a great question and I'll answer it as soon as this video is done." instead of "Drew, quiet down."?
I'm guessing that given the context, we're already beyond the point of Drew simply raising salient discussion points.

This Japan thing is really, really horrible. I've been watching for a couple of hours and I'm pretty sure the magnitude of it all still isn't registering with me. :(

the worst part is the videos where you see cars trying to flee and they just get swallowed up.

Just got back from Red Riding Hood. The wife and I both loved it. It was beautifully shot and Amanda Seyfried is gorgeous and I dug the whole Red Riding Hood thing. As far as if other people would like it, answer these three questions:1. Can you accept it's a movie based on a fairy tale and there will be places where they stretched a bit to fit the "legend" into this movie.2. Did the trailer and/or the idea of a dark, Tim Burton-ish adaptation of a fairy tale peak your interest?3. Did you like/love Sleepy Hollow? If you answered yes to any or all of those you'd probably like this. If you're a spazzy snobby dork who takes movies way too seriously, you'd probably hate it.Also Amanda Seyfried is gorgeous.
Please restore that redhead as your avatar. Much better than ol' wide-eyes.

I'm OK with the change. I'd like to see Frosti come up with some sort of rotation. A sort of slide-show of soon-to-be forgettable ingénues.

Why the thumbup? Expected more or one less inlaw to deal with?
He's "good for nothin'", apparently. He's constantly in trouble with the law, got my fiance's sister hooked on pills for a while, steals so he can get money for drugs, etc. He needs some time away.Sad thing is that they accidentally got pregnant last year and so now there is a 7 month old in the equation. My understanding of the situation is that this kid will almost be better off without having him around (she will likely divorce him while he's in jail). The thumb up was kind of mean, I guess.

I get it, my BiL is a semi-loser too. Hard to believe two polar opposites came from the same parents, isn't it?

I can see this.

Sammy, I would like to eat some Fries.
:lmao: Had some really bad Fries back in high school. Cold, soggy and way too salty.
:lmao: :lmao:I just looked at the big pic. I would like to retract my previous statement.

I'm just going to say this here:

Ham was happy that the quake/tsunami happened.
I heard these lyrics yesterday and almost choked on my tongue.
I almost choked on my tongue the first time I saw that video and fireworks shot out of her boobs.
Like on MTV?

That was a loooong time ago.
Sure seems like it but I still thinks it's funny. I have an enourmous sense of humor.
You Canadian all of a sudden?
Love their bacon.
Their beer and whiskey are pretty good, too, but that's no excuse to go throwing around an extra "u" all willy-nilly. ;)
I think my shoe is trying to talk to me.
