GM's thread about nothing (47 Viewers)

when I'm in Vegas, it's usually pretty easy to sleep through the early NFL games. Pacific time is good for some things, but not for NFL.I have grown to prefer CST over EST though. That extra hour helps a lot.
I would never have believed it before I moved out here but 10AM NFL kickoff is perfection. PST pretty much rules for all sports viewing. It takes about a season to acclimate but once you do you can't believe you ever had to do it any other way.
I agree with this guy. Hated it at first (1996) but now, I'm spoiled and cannot stand coming to EST. This is the pits. Waiting until 7:35pm for games to start? Ugh. Staying up past midnight to watch games? Horrible.

9AM thursday tip to march madness is stellar. 9am college football kickoff more awesomeness. When you're drinking coffee while wagering on live action you know something right is happening.

I've done EST and PST. PST is the way to go. Wins by miles. Like Hoart mentioned, MM starts at 9 AM when you're eating breakfast. Awesome. NFL starting at 10 AM is perfect if you don't go to church.

Only advantage of EST was if you're up playing poker late or something with buddies, there are WC games on.

But I also think the points about partying interfering with kickoff are valid. When I was in my twenties and going to those 5am bars Rude references, there's no way I would have wanted 10am kickoffs. I think we moved out here at just the right time, though. When I went from Gin n Juice and crawling into the gutter to pass out at 5am to prune juice and crawling into my daughter's room to change a diaper and wake up at 5am, the 10:00 kickoff became my favorite thing ever.

The only time I think I hate the early start anymore is when the Cardinals end up hosting MNF. So, about once a decade. It makes the drive home a nightmare. Oh, and I got the joy of sitting in BCS title game traffic without the benefit of actually attending the game. Otherwise, big fan.

Oh, absolutely. Our office TV is tuned to CNBC 99% of the time, but when March Madness, Bowl Season or World Cup action is on, we watch and gamble on sports. Nothing beats that.

Hockey games would start at like 4pm pacific. :(
That's a drag for guys who work 9-5's, no doubt. But a lot of people on the west coast work market hours. I'm usually done at 3pm every day.
that's great and I get that. But, this just means you go to bed earlier and wake up earlier. So, the time difference really doesn't matter as people adjust their schedules to what works best for them.I get to work around 9. If you get in around 7, we're basically on the same schedule and the sports events are on at a similar point in the day.

I usually hit the sack at 11 and get into work after 7. What's nice for me is that the night games are over by 10 at the latest, usually. Last night, the MM games were going past midnight. That's tough. I stayed up to watch them as my body was still used to PST, but everybody else crashed.

How did I miss the GM/MOP undercard until it got locked?
Oh, he's taken the party to my inbox. This thing ain't over. :boxing: He's taken to calling me "Captain Scotchie" :lmao:
Why did it get locked? It wasn't nearly out of control. Did MoP request it?
I don't know why it was locked, but I'm guessing it was starting to get personal.Look, I wish the guy luck if this is indeed a legit story. Why don't I buy it? Because I think he's spun a few works of fiction on this board to get a rise out of people and this one has gone from zero to sixty faster than the lifespan of my erections. MOP absolutely and admittedly thrives on stirring the pot here and I have little doubt that he's trying this Bahama on for size just to see how many hornets he can anger.Despite the fact that I have trouble believing the authenticity, I did give him some honest advice regarding religion and his son. He didn't want to hear that and instead wanted to exchange insults. Which is fine because I poked him first and deserved it, but I think it illustrates my point in that he's more interestd in debate than he is in answers. Just an opinion and I could be wrong.

We were making our baseball picks last night when my cousin says he has a free dinner at the casino Saturday night and invited me to go. Strange I thought. I pressed him on a free dinner and he changed his story to a comped gift certificate. When I got home Mrs. SLB told me that my SIL called and was going to be in the neighborhood tomorrow and she figured, WTF!, I might as well have the boys spend the night!

I've decided this morning to stop being a rooster muncher and not ruin this for my wife. See you guys Saturday? :bye:

That's Vegas, though. That's not real life. I've done things in Vegas that should have killed me and inspired a new chapter in the Mormon Bible.
:lmao: I'm stealing this.

Christ :lmao:I can't believe how good GM is to Flags. I would be all Godfather II after the abortion.
Well, to be fair, I wasn't very good to her when I was married to her. And as far as ex-wives go, she's top shelf. I mean, there were bumps in the road and she'll flex the crazy muscle here and there, but for the most part, I'm incredibly lucky and the boys are much better off with two parents who can get along after divorce. There's a lot of divorced parents who can't be in the same room together.So...I'm really lucky and if I'm out a lot of money, so be it. I can rebuild my finances. I don't get a second chance to divorce the right way for the sake of my kids.Good lord...look at me.

lol. fun stuff.

I told Shooter about the kid thread Wednesday night. He hadn't seen it. All he could keep saying was, "A fax?! Seriously? Who the #### uses a fax machine?"

I think we - the people of this thread - should all start reading the bible. there's some great stories in there. Like the Ark and stuff.

Marrying Flags sounds like a shark move at this point. Free house from GM and awesome stories for life.

Maybe if Skip Schumaker calls me and tells me there's someone really special who wants me to start reading it.
“If two Israelite men get into a fight and the wife of one tries to rescue her husband by grabbing the #### of the other man, you must cut off her hand. Show her no pity.”–Deuteronomy 25:11-12

How in the hell do you people who live EST do it? It's after midnight and Butler/Wisc is still going on. I can't comprehend this, despite spending 22 years in CST. PST is where it's at. EST sucks. This sucks so bad I'd never move here if you doubled my salary. I had to wait all f'n day for games to start and am watching them now by myself with my in-law's 20 year old cat and FIL's scotch. Horrible.
Thats why I barely get to watch any game anymore. I'm in bed by 11 which is only 9:30 est. If you think Eastern is bad, try being ahead of it.

GM is kinda on a Michael Chorleone kick lately, took out Hucksy last week and now MOP. Reminds me of the scene towards the end of GodFather II when Michael's talking about getting rid of people and Tom asks: "what are you gonna wipe out everybody?" and Michael says: "no not everybody Tom, just my enemies".

Bah, I'm being mean. I should be nicer to people. I will be nicer to people. Starting.....NOW!My wife took my sons with her, her mother and her sister to the mall. My FIL just left for the store. My BIL is still sleeping. Scale of 1-10, how odd would it be to catch a jerk to the judge on People's Court?

I vote "really odd or 9/10".
