Inside job is a good doc but not for kids
I actually emailed myself earlier this week to remind myself to get that one. I'll watch it after they go to bed.
Dear Zachary. Documentary NOT for kids. Barely even for adults. I have posted this like three time today in the FFA, but there has never been anything on TV that kicked me in the balls quite as hard as this show did. 24 hours later, I'm still thinking about it. Uplifting and heartbreaking at the same time. Just friggin' amazing. My wife and I, upon seeing each other after getting home from work this evening, immediately started talking about it again. Like we both needed time for it all to sink in. You can stream it from Netflix right now.If you have ever trusted my opinion, watch this. And then later, you can thank me and hate me and be sincere about both. It's hard to explain without seeing it.

You've been warned. The nut kicking thing is no joke.

There were some stunning little 22-25 year old broads at the wedding. A couple of them wanted to double up on me but my wife wouldn't let them. What a b itch.

Did you use the negroes line?
I'm saving that for when I marry a FBG.
I'm willing to get divorced and remarried, just for that line. Especially since I have an aunt who likes to drop the N bomb whenever possible. Send me your number so I have it when I'm ready. Also probably your address and the times when nobody is home at your house. And the combination for the safe where you keep your Jeopardy winnings.

I followed this nightmare pretty closely when it happened. I spent 13 years leading up to the fall of 08 in the mortgage business. Countrywide was our go to. Hell, we were investigated for predatory practices that should have been illegal, but they just weren't. 15 minutes in to the film and my biggest wonder is the uplifting part...?

I think we're talking about different shows. This is what I was talking about. http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Dear_Zachary_A_Letter_to_a_Son_About_His_Father/70095159?trkid=4213507#height1244

Yeah, I thought you were just referring to GM as Zachary cause this thread is wierd like that to me sometimes. Anyway. I watched both last night. They both sucked and I hated everyone in them. Good thing I've been alone here since Thursday night so I can drink as much as I want.Speaking of that, my kid parlayed Disneyland yesterday into another sleepover and Universal Studios today. That means single dad here has been all alone since Thursday night when he had made arrangements not to have to work. I am feeling really relaxed this morning, like I have been on a great vacation. I basically puttered around the house, slept and drank all day yesterday, but very modest booze intake and even less puttering. Anyway it's awesome to feel a bunch of stress I didn't even know I had just slip away. I'm going to go float in the pool for awhile and possible say ooohmmmm many times.

JFC. I just read the wikipedia entry. Why in the world would I want to watch that?

Took JR to get his first haircut today. When we got there, he climbed up into the chair and talked to everyone there about how he was getting his first haircut. Then, the actual cut started.

At one point, I was sitting in the chair with him in my lap trying to keep him from climbing out of the chair while AngryWife tried to hold his head still so that the girl could finish the cut. All the while, he was screaming "HELP ME DADDY!" at the top of his lungs. We finally gave up, so ended up with about 3/4 of a haircut. Looks like he did it himself. Once I let him go, he took off on a dead sprint (for a two year old) out of the shop, through the front door and into the parking lot.

I am in New Delhi. Since it was nighttime when we arrived I haven't had a good look yet. I'm here with two guys from work, and when we arrived, the company we are meeting with had sent two cars and four individuals to meet us...carrying bouquets of red roses and yellow day-lilies for each of us. One of my colleagues was an offensive lineman at Nebraska, so I got a sweet picture of him with his bouquet.

My driver asked how we were spending tomorrow, and I told him one of the guys and I are going on a tour of Delhi that I had arranged. I thought there was a language issue when he kept asking what time to show up at the hotel, and then I learned that our host company is insisting that we have security with us at all times. So tomorrow we'll be taking a tour with a car trailing us the whole time. Awkward.

Our hotel is very nice but like everything in India, I'm told, just a little off. The door to my toilet opens inward and gives about a 6-inch space that I can wedge through, stepping over the toilet to get in and out. I hope the guys don't have this or there's no way they'll be able to use it. I'm considering peeing in the sink or bathtub instead. Luckily, as I'm a female, I don't poop.

Oh my good friend, I've seen that. I saw it over a year ago. It was the hardest thing I've ever sat through. I never in my life felt so angry at another human being...and I've never in my life wanted to jump through the television and wanted to hug another human as I did watching this film. One of the most powerful films I've ever seen. Agree 100%.

When I get around to it, I'm going to compile a list of all the things my boys have fought over and then, when they are older and the time is right, I'm going to read it off to them, hoping the embarrassment is equal to the amount of ire their arguments have caused me over the years. If my boys were two European countries in 1915, their Powder Keg to WWI would emminate from a skirmish over who gets to push the elevator button first. 3 years ago, we spent 7 days/nights in Maui in a sweet condo on the 11th floor (LOOK AT ME). By day 2, we had to implement a system of elevator button pushing to prevent the two of them from killing each other. One boy got to push the 'call button', the other got to push the destination floor. Any quibbling and one of the adults got to push the button. This elevator button pushing has continued on ever since. They still race to see who can push the button first. I force them to take the stairs now.Who gets to control the remote? Who gets to select the water temperature in the shower (we used to make the shower at the same time to save time; still do sometimes)? Who gets to pick the DVD in the car? Who gets the #1 WII remote? They race from the bus stop to the house. They race from the car to the front door. They race for spots on the couch. I wish I wrote more of these down. Thankfully my wife has a good list in her head and her brain isn't as worn down and tainted the way mine is. But I assure you, at 8 and almost 7, these guys battle it out and their favorite thing in the world is when they get time away from each other (sometimes, Flaghoople and I will split them up for a night or two - it's good to get some one on one time with them). But they also get along pretty well too. They are just constantly around each other. They share a room at my house and have some of the same friends. I fought with my sister constantly growing up, but we also got along too. Goes in waves for many siblings close in age.
:lmao:
btw: this was my first reply in this thread...damn you for making me reply to this thread and white-cornering it.
Dude, where you been? This thread was designed for you! :banned:

Just me and the boys tonight.
Are you taking them to a house where the people aren't home?
:lmao: no, we are at home alone while the wife LEFT the house for an evening of fun. But next time, I'm going to take them to a vacant house or maybe my office so my wife can lounge around the home by herself.
I hate you.
:lmao: By the way, Neil Young's "Treasure" is incredible. Listening to it for the 3rd time today. Sooooo sooooo good. Lemme know if you want it.

Recital starts at 630. Standing outside waiting for the doors to open at 5 so we can ZOMG GET GOOD SEATS. Good news is I live in San Antonio so it's only about a hundred and balls degrees outside.

Been there. I've been in recitals myself and have two daughters that did recitals as well. I know it's tough to sit through and yes guys, it's rude for people to leave after their kid's performance. It's very exciting for your daughter and she gets to feel like a star for one night. Hopefully you brought flowers to give her after the show. Then again, the owners of the dance studios really need to consider the parents and how long they have to sit there. I remember that during my last years of performing in recitals, the owner of the studio started a new system. When you bought your tickets, you could pick your seats so you ended up with assigned seats which took away the rush to find a good seat.
