GM's thread about nothing (32 Viewers)

At the office on a Sunday night for the first time in years. Have a big customer audit coming in on early Tuesday and my boss coming to my facility for the first time ever tomorrow, so just making sure everything is ready.

Got the golf on the radio, and the only person in the place. It may be weird, but I forgot how much I actually enjoy coming in and getting an early start on the week. Feel like I am ahead of everyone else.

I know the new My Morning Jacket album hasn't been very well received by those whose music opinions are more refined than mine, but my lord, do I ever love the song "Outta My System". How can you not like a song that starts off with "They told me not to smoke drugs, but I wouldn't listen". YES!!!Rest of the album is kind of wussish, though.
Thanks GM, never heard of these guys before today... so good.

Well, if this is your first taste of MMJ, then I implore you to dig back a few years and find a copy of "At Dawn", "It Still Moves" and "Z", which you'll really enjoy. Their live stuff is incredible. Check out the thread here for more. Seeing them June 28th for the first time and can't wait. Top 5 band for me right now.

I was lucky enough to see them do their 5 night run here in NYC last year, and it was mind blowing. I actually spent father's day playing MMJ youtube vids for my dad and getting him up to speed on the band. 75 years old and he still loves learning about new music and listening to bands. GB him.GB to all the dads here.

We have a great thing going on with this thread. We have laughed together, we have cried together. We have had members die and had members bring life into this world together. We have shared embarrassing moments and have shared personal, heart wrenching moments together. We have bought houses and sold houses together. We have been hired and fired together. We have gotten married and divorced together. We have had children and lost children together. We have exchanged phone numbers and Facebook pages together. We have exchanged addresses and sent prize packages to each other. We have become....believe it or not...friends. It might just be me, but I consider the GMTAN posters as friends. I would buy any one of them a beer, I would take any one of them into my house.
Is it just me, or is Stryker-Shammy-Wow just begging the GMTAN to crash his wedding?
I may or may not have had a cocktail or nine last night. But I meant what I said. :banned:Zookz, you didn't get the invite?

updates:

my mom was released from the hospital today. not convinced she's out of the woods yet; she's spent the day sleeping on my couch. She's also running a fever of 101. not terrible, but not good either. Dr's think that she had a seizure based on the fact that her tongue was bit pretty good...two days in the hospital, and that's all they got. i guess we should be glad that the CT scan didn't show something, but it's be nice to have a better explanation of that happened other than "well, it's gotta be a seizure, even though there is no history of such a thing, cause we can't find anything else."

My parents are supposed to drive back to FL tomorrow...not sure how that will go, if she's still under the weather. That being said, we have two small kids here who love to jump around and cause a ruckus, so my house probably isn't the best place for her either. Good chance I will be headed down to FL to escort them and make sure they make it down ok. it's about a 12 hour drive to their house.

Also, I got my first keg. I was pretty disappointed with the in-stock selection at my local Frugal McDougals, and ended up w/ Sam Adams. I went with something neutral to make sure the wife (and any house guests) would like. Anyways, I'm having serious foaming issues. I think that right now it's a temp thing; it's about 45 right now, probably should be <40. pressure is about 10 psi.

What happened?
In rough chronological order, Samuel LB said something funny, got a timeout, started drinking, started writing an angry letter, started getting misty eyed, then started writing more seriouslyer, then Krista fell in kind of love, although it may have something to do with him using the word "krippling".
Pretty sure Krista fell in love with me well before

Father's day fishing: 6 year old daughter not only learned to cast, but caught 5 rainbow trout. Proudest moment: "You want to let it go?" "No, Dad. Let's eat him."

Dear Joe,I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the Free For All. I think we all love and appreciate the community that you, and we, have built over the past 10 or so years in this forum. Just about everyone that frequents this message board knows that he/she can come to this website from home...during work...during a visit to mom and dads house....during a visit to the in-laws house...etc and knows that there will not be any objectionable material that would need to be explained.Beyond that, there is a group of posters who felt it necessary to have their own thread. The iron fist that comes down on objectionable material is understandable. We understand the need for it and also appreciate it. But we don't want that either. There's a line to be drawn when consenting adults are congregating. We don't want to change the moderation of the FFA. We just want to be treated like adults. We "toe the line" every day. We "cross that line" every day. But do we affect anyone in the FFA? How many times has this thread been reported? We have a great thing going on with this thread. We have laughed together, we have cried together. We have had members die and had members bring life into this world together. We have shared embarrassing moments and have shared personal, heart wrenching moments together. We have bought houses and sold houses together. We have been hired and fired together. I would buy any one of them a beer, I would take any one of them into my house. We have established a community that you could never imagine and it is just within this one thread. And yet we get suspensions for a "bad word"I...and I think I speak for all of us...I appreciate your heavy-handed moderation when it comes to the general FFA. It is your board and a lot needs to be filtered. But I also think I speak for all of us when I say there is no reason to pick us off, one by one, from afar after months, when we are 605 pages in, for something that would normally be offensive to the rest of the FFA. If Sister Georgia comes into page 504 of the GMTAN and complains about the word "shlong" I will be the first person to leave this place.Otherwise, please let us police ourselves. We do a pretty good job of it already. And Aaron does an even better job of catching what we miss.Thank you Joe for listening.I petition that Samuel Bronkowitz, Homer Simpson, Sconch, and anyone that was suspended because of this thread, be reinstated. Again, we can police our own.So Joe, I/we welcome you to this thread. We hope you can sit back, relax and enjoy the stories, cry with the heartbreak, laugh with the idiotic, and be one of us. If you are going to simply suspend us then I ask your leniency and please stay out of this thread.ThanksGMTAN
You're wasting your breath. Joe isn't any more interested in your input than that 21 year old blond you bought a shot at the bar. Also, ouch at the snub.

I was up at the cabin this weekend while the wife stayed home. So for father's day, at 12:01am Sunday, she sent me a couple of noodz.

No, I'm not sharing. Just bragging.

I was apparently bitten by a spider on the back of my knee. It's gotten progressively bigger as the day has gone on, and is about the size of a silver dollar at this point. It's also really, really hard. I'm convinced that there are eggs in there.

yeah, a buddy of mine had big foaming issues first time he got a kegerator. He said he found some home brewing forum that took care of all his issues.

After reading shiznitt's brown recluse spider thread about his wife getting bit, I'd suggest you get to the hospital immediately.

So, can anyone jump in here? I've been occasionally taking a read but haven't posted in this thread yet. Don't know if I'll ever share some of the things I'd like to get advice/thoughts on, but wanted to check and see what sort of street cred is needed. Should I post my rosters in my sig or something?

Believe me, that's the first thing I thought about this morning when the swelling started. But, no fever or heart palpitations, etc., so I'm thinking it's not a brown recluse. Hence the eggs, which is the obvious next hypochondriacal conclusion.

They'll accept just about anyone, just talk about poop or something and you are golden.

Like needing 3 family members to help you screw in a light bulb?

Keep it up and I'll take my inflatable dart board and go home.
