Dear Joe,I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the Free For All. I think we all love and appreciate the community that you, and we, have built over the past 10 or so years in this forum. Just about everyone that frequents this message board knows that he/she can come to this website from home...during work...during a visit to mom and dads house....during a visit to the in-laws house...etc and knows that there will not be any objectionable material that would need to be explained.Beyond that, there is a group of posters who felt it necessary to have their own thread. The iron fist that comes down on objectionable material is understandable. We understand the need for it and also appreciate it. But we don't want that either. There's a line to be drawn when consenting adults are congregating. We don't want to change the moderation of the FFA. We just want to be treated like adults. We "toe the line" every day. We "cross that line" every day. But do we affect anyone in the FFA? How many times has this thread been reported?We have a great thing going on with this thread. We have laughed together, we have cried together. We have had members die and had members bring life into this world together. We have shared embarrassing moments and have shared personal, heart wrenching moments together. We have bought houses and sold houses together. We have been hired and fired together. We have gotten married and divorced together. We have had children and lost children together. We have exchanged phone numbers and Facebook pages together. We have exchanged addresses and sent prize packages to each other. We have become....believe it or not...friends. It might just be me, but I consider the GMTAN posters as friends. I would buy any one of them a beer, I would take any one of them into my house.We have established a community that you could never imagine and it is just within this one thread. And yet we get suspensions for a "bad word"I...and I think I speak for all of us...I appreciate your heavy-handed moderation when it comes to the general FFA. It is your board and a lot needs to be filtered. But I also think I speak for all of us when I say there is no reason to pick us off, one by one, from afar after months, when we are 605 pages in, for something that would normally be offensive to the rest of the FFA. If Sister Georgia comes into page 504 of the GMTAN and complains about the word "shlong" I will be the first person to leave this place.Otherwise, please let us police ourselves. We do a pretty good job of it already. And Aaron does an even better job of catching what we miss.Thank you Joe for listening.I petition that Samuel Bronkowitz, Homer Simpson, Sconch, and anyone that was suspended because of this thread, be reinstated.
