GM's thread about nothing (25 Viewers)

What if the money was used to make a "Shiva" trophy, only customized for the FFA and this thread?

The pics the winner would take through the year would make for great shtick. Like our own demented version of the Stanley Cup travels.

:2cents:

Wait I'm away for less than 24 hours and the GMTAN-PPPFFL league fills up? WTF? I would suggest entry fee by shtick bid. Everyone has to put in the $5 or whatever for the sit, but instead of money, say what prize you'd deliver to the winners. For example, I would promise to overnight the winner two live lobsters and the 2nd place finisher a Reese's tshirt. And I didn't opt out of any pictures, yet didn't receive any.
Schtick in lieu of entry fees (other than what it would cost to run the site) would be awesome. Would need to have 1 person be the "escrow" so as not to ruin any surprises. Could be like GMTANFF and Secret Santa rolled into one. Hell, since I can't access the site from work, I'll throw out the following...GM, your call on what you think:Whoever ends up in the league can email me what schtick items they will provide as entry fee. What you provide will determine your draft order (i.e. The best member's items (ha ha) will get draft position 1 and the worst ones will get the last draft position. In a 12 team example, winner of the league receives items 1-6, 2nd place 7-9, 3rd place 10-12.Obviously, there is some level of honesty that will go with this....but it could really make for some good schtick.
if a last minute replacement bows out, I'll hop in. I have a(statue?) of a lacquered REAL frog passed out with a corona that would fit on the sheeba nicely.

Just to get a more concrete idea of this proposed trophy, how'd we make it?

1. On one of the tiers there's a square of cheap carpet with a white stain on it, signed "Shuke was here."

Almond butter>>>>>>>>>peanut butter.
Does it taste better? A quick look at the nutritional info of almond and peanut shows that almond butter has slightly more calories, slightly more fat, and only half the protein as peanut butter. Not good for us gym going types. Plus I can't imagine anything tasting better than peanut butter. I love that stuff the way many of you love bacon.

The fats in almonds are better for you, but it's not a huge difference. The main thing is to limit the sugar. I'm not very good at it myself, but admitting you have a problem....

I have a question about peanutbutter. Instead of starting a new thread. I'll just post it here. What brands do you guys/girls prefer?Smooth? Chunky? Extra Chunky?Natural style?Other than bung holes, where are some good and unusual places to use (cook with) PB?
Grown-ups eat peanut butter? Okay, I'm retiring that schtick for good. Just had to unleash it once more.I don't eat much peanut butter, but I like it okay. I prefer chunky and so do my boys. My boys go through a LOT of peanut butter, though I think my wife helps them along. She loves the stuff. The Natural/Organic peanut butter is prety awful. My ex-wife bought that crap and stored it in the fridge. It spread like small bricks of clay and I didn't like licking off the knife like I do when I spread the Jiffy or Jeff's.Also, would it kill women to either lick the knife off or use a paper towel to get all the peanut butter off the knife before dropping it in the sink to sit all day long, thus forcing a sandblaster to get the crap off later in the day? While I like peanut butter, I'm not crazy about the smell and hate getting it on my fingers.
I prefer smooth but I do lick the knife.

I think starting with a "normal trophy" for the first season is good, and each year the winner gets to add something to it
If we do this, I could possibly provide the trophy. I can't find a bigger picture of it right now, but it's a nice fairly large silver cup type trophy. This might require dissolving my local league, which has been around since '98. I was thinking about doing that anyway though.

A cup might not be upgraded with shtick, but it'd sure make for great pics throughout the year. How big is it? Any engravings on it?

Probably 10" diameter, at least 18" tall. No engravings. Guy was afraid to do that, since he didn't know how thick the silver plating was.

Going to Dollywood?
NOT. A. CHANCE. Then again it probably wouldn't be busy in October. Any fun to be had?
Dollywood is actually surprisingly fun. My wife and I did the rent-a-cabin thing In Gatlinburg a few years ago, and hit the park on of the days. We had a great time, and they have some decent coasters. IIRC, the Mine ride was our favorite.

Just spitballing here, but how many of you would be interesting in forming a GMTAN Fantasy Football League for 2011? We could keep entry fees relatively low and go with 14 owners? I'm sure we're all in enough leagues, but if there's enough interest, I'd head one up.
If entry fee isn't too steep, I'll play.I gave up FF for a few years until last season, when I jumped in the Pack's dynasty league and lost to Worm in SB, but rediscovered the fun.
Was thinking $50 at most and could be talked into less. Yeah, for lolz more than anything, though we could spice it up a notch. Drafting Joe Bryant as a punter is quality shtick.
How about we figure out the number of people, then figure out the cost for any stoopid website to host it, then figure out how much it'd cost us to cover the site with some leftover for the SB winner?$50 would be my ceiling though.
I'd aim for 14 teams at $50 each which would give us $700 for prize money. Site fees (assuming we use RTsports) would be $70 or so, though I might be able to piggyback this league with one of the other two I run. :shrug:We could do the draft online a week or so before the season and let it roll 24 hours a day for a few days until we're all done. We could use this site to prod people along, though I'll probably email/text people when they are OTC.Again, just an idea, but I'll start collecting potential owners now to keep track.
In if there's room.

24 team league. Pancake Conference. Waffle Conference. Separate drafts for each conference. Conference champs get some cash and play for the 'Nut Butter Championship of the world. Yes, that means the teams playing each other in the championship may have some of the same players. That's part of the charm of that approach imo.

hmm, might have to look into it.

And so GMTAN friends, I bid you adieu. I am about to take the 3.5 hour drive to the beginning of the end of my life. I plan to return to this thread as a cynical, broken-down, old man who has been withered by the sands of time and days, nay weeks, of marriage. Good bye my friends.

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost, but now am found,

Was blind but now I see.

I, for one, think you are making a fantastic decision. Your life is going to be rich and fulfilling now.

I guess I was thinking the shtick offers for prizes would actually be something folks would want, but whatever.
