GM's thread about nothing (18 Viewers)

For some reason I got a slew of friend requests on FB last night. Since I didn't hit the lottery, I'm going to assume it's a bug.

So as I try and find the right time to tell my wife that we are done and I want a divorce, I come home to this sharp left turn:

My wife got info on a new job within her company that she would be a shoe-in to get and it's what she really wants to do. The job is in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She REALLY wants to move up there. She spent all night reading up on Green Bay and sending me emails of houses for sale.

One, this is my typical wife. When things are bad, she does not stay and fight, she flies. New job, new house, new state. She lives for starting over. Two, this is also my typical wife. She sees how nice Green Bay is TODAY, she does not think about the 13 months a year when it is balls freezing cold. She also doesn't think about what I would do for a job. She doesn't even begin to think about the fact that I'm not a Packers fan. It's all about her.

FML.
oofbut my wife and i may swap houses with you if this does go down

We have our compnay golf outing tomorrow. 6'2" tatted-up dude just made a bet with a skinny, mannish lesbian - loser has to wear a dress next Monday and Friday. can't decide who to root for.

Maybe this is opportunity? How far from your current location? Close enough to make split custody work? (you do have kids, right?)
Dallas and Green Bay? I don't see a problem. Make the exchange in St Louis every Thursday and Sunday..

Yeah, Dallas and Green Bay aren't the closest of locations. And yes, two kids. If no kids, it's a slam dunk. Go and enjoy freezing your ### off. But kids make things a bit more tricky.

Ouch Bogart. This definitely makes the conversation more difficult. But it doesnt sound like she has a very clear grasp on the reality of the situation..not just now but throughout.

Good luck man.

Really sucks man, now this really forces your hand. Hope this works out for the best and your Wife and kids aren't moving to GB.

Question about streaming Netflix (via Wii if that matters)-

Totally hypothetical, but is there a way to remove something from the 'recently viewed' list?

TIA
Hey Netflix> How's about we tighten up that definition of "recently" mmmkay? TIA
This is greatness BTW. Love me some Captain Q.What was the title of this film again?
Text from my wife last night: How was MILF??

Wouldn't this be a good thing for you? Encourage her to move...let this be the catalyst to your separation and ultimately your divorce.

They live with you during the school year and with her during the summer.

GM coming strong with good points. There is no way she goes 9 months without the kids, but you are making some very good, sane points here. I need more sanity in this situation.

could also ease the children into the separation because mom has a new job far away...

what do i know though. i dont have any kids yet...

Going to Dollywood?
NOT. A. CHANCE. Then again it probably wouldn't be busy in October. Any fun to be had?
Dollywood is actually surprisingly fun. My wife and I did the rent-a-cabin thing In Gatlinburg a few years ago, and hit the park on of the days. We had a great time, and they have some decent coasters. IIRC, the Mine ride was our favorite.
hmm, might have to look into it.

that's what I look like when I make my O-face

Are there any laws about the mother taking the kids and moving out of state, assuming she was awarded full custody?
Depends on what you put in the divorce agreement. Mine says neither party (split-custody) can move more than one county away with consent from the other. If you move to GB, you're stuck there if/when the divorce happens. At least that's how I would look at it.

So, basically worst situation ever. Yeah, let me be free and single in Green Bay. It won't get to that point. Will be talking to her within the next few days.

Well, I certainly know how hard it would be to live far away from my kids (which is why I forced a document into our divorce agreement that stipulated neither one of us could move 60 miles away without going back to court) but you wouldn't be the first nor the last to pull it off. A friend of mine's ex-wife moved to Alaska last year and because she was able to get them into an incredible school there, he agreed to let her take them so long as they came back to Portland for summer/winter breaks. It's been tough, but he's doing it for his kids and knows they are better off in Alaska. That's obviously extreme, but in your case, you could consider it by giving her the entire summer, Thanksgiving and XMAS break, spring break, etc....those holidays would help break up the year for her. Of course, I don't know you or your kids, so this might be an impossible situation, but it could also be the opportunity you're looking for. And it sounds like she has one foot out the door already. Might be best for her to take the job and restart her new life up in Green Bay without you. Also, are you chained down to Dallas? Man, I lived there 18 years. I wouldn't move back for a job that paid me double what I make now. Great town, but the heat, size, traffic, sprawl, flatness...not for me. Would you consider moving to Chicago or Wisconsin? Could you do it? There's certainly worse places to live, IMO. :shrug:Good luck, dude.

Anyone bought a suit at Joseph A Bank? Just looking for somethign halfway decent to wear occasionally, and they are having a 70% off sale.

Hack - don't bother with links to your $800 hipster doofus stuff that will be out of style in 9 months.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I bought a suit from them when I graduated from collge. Helped me land my first two important jobs. Sadly, I think the only person who could fit into it now would be Redraiders pre-marriage. :bag:

That's not nearly as bad as the sick mofos who stick coins up their butts and circulate them into the wild.
Wait a minute. What now?
There are people who stick pennies up their butts and then spend them. They are called 'assss pennies' and I assure you, they are very real.
Why? And how do you know about it?
Why? Same reason people pee all over the toilet seat, jerk off on to the ear piece of pay phones, booger escelator handles and fart in crowded elevators. There's some sick sick monkeys out there. Never you mind how I know about it.

Are there any laws about the mother taking the kids and moving out of state, assuming she was awarded full custody?
All state dependent, but the trend is that regardless of custody, a mother can't essentially cut of visitation rights by moving. Usually if the mother tries moving out of the jurisdiction, making visitation impossible, the court will revise the parenting plan/custody order to give the father chunks of time (school breaks and summer) to make up for eliminating regular visitation.

Why doesn't Tufnel post in here regularly? I think it would really make it complete.

And what's up with these guys? You know the thread is white-cornered for them. Are they just lurking or too cool to reopen the thread?

And yes, I'm bored.

I think most people see a 719 page thread and figure there's no way to dive in, which is good because it eliminates most of the white-noise posters. A lot of the one-off posts are people saying things like "I don't understand what goes on in here."

At a farewell luncheon today for a co-worker, a careless chubby gal sitting in one of the tall chairs gave me a beav shot. I was mesmerized throughout the meal.

All this talk about the asspennies made me think of that horrible video where the dude sat on the glass and it ended up breaking....inside him! Disgusting.

I always wondered how bad his injuries were.
