GM's thread about nothing (36 Viewers)

Do not adjust your computer monitor or check your eyeglasses, Bills fans.

The numbers you are about to read are real. Through the first three weeks of the season, the Buffalo Bills are the highest-scoring team in the NFL, with 113 points (37.7 per game). They're averaging 431 yards per game, which is third in the league.

"We've gotten off to a great start, no doubt," Bills running back Fred Jackson said, before adding the caveat that's become mantra in the Bills locker room. "We have a lot of work that we can still look at and see where we can improve as an offense even with the stats we're putting up now. There are a lot of plays that we look at on film that can still be made by us.

"There's still a lot of games to be played and a lot of work," quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick said. "There's a lot of stuff we can correct from this last game. The goal is to get better every week and we need to continue to do that."

By now, the Bills' recent history on offense is well known. It's been offensive.

Buffalo hasn't finished in the top 10 in yards per game in the last 10 seasons. In eight of those 10 years, the team has finished 25th or worse.

The '04 Bills team finished seventh in scoring (24.7 points per game), the only time Buffalo has been in the top 10 in that category in the last decade. In eight of 10 years, the Bills have been 23rd or worse.

There were hints last season the offense was taking a turn under new coach Chan Gailey, but the results weren't overwhelming. The Bills were 25th in yards and 28th in points a season ago.

So what's keyed such a radical turnaround?

"I give a lot of credit to the O-line, to Fitz, to the receivers, to Fred and to the tight ends. I mean, the coaching staff's doing a great job of getting them organized and communicating what we want on the field," Gailey said.

In other words, it's all come together during this 3-0 start that has left fans wondering just how far this team can go, and caught the attention of the national media.

Reporters from Yahoo! Sports, ESPN and NFL Network were in the locker room Monday. Fitzpatrick appeared on the nationally syndicated Jim Rome Show among at least seven radio spots he did on the day. That was certainly not the case a season ago.

"I don't love it," Fitzpatrick said, only half-kidding. "I mean it's cool, it's good for our team and it's good for our city to get some recognition. I was just fine how it was last year, being able to walk around here and talking to like three of you guys. It's a good problem and obviously I'd love it to continue because that means that we're winning games and we're still competitive."

"They deserve it," center Eric Wood said of the national attention paid to Fitzpatrick, Jackson and receiver Stevie Johnson. "They're playmakers, and playmakers in this league get a lot of publicity."

Wood said it could be viewed as a sign of respect, but pointed out that the Bills were big underdogs heading into Sunday's game with New England.

"I'm sure people are making tons of excuses [Monday] for the Patriots losing that game, and that's fine," Wood said. "We don't want you [the media] to pump us up. We don't need people pumping us up. We've got a good, solid group of guys, good leadership that will keep us going in the right direction."

As he was finishing an interview, the rest of the offensive line came up behind Wood to pull him away. He was late to a meeting.

hmm... we might just be talking about 2 different kind of trips. I have a feeling cos is thinking fishing 1st, with some cornholing, and GM/Jp/me Cornholing 1st, with fishing as one of the possible activities.
Once you get past 5-6 people involved, multiple interests need to be considered. Options are key. That was one of the beautiful things about weekends at Scupper'ss. Lots of stuff available: pontoon boat, ski boat, Guitar hero, arcade donkey kong, fishing, horseshoes, ping pong, golf, casino, strip club, hot tub, fire pit hangout, and I'm probably missing something.
I'll keep looking for the right spot/location. I'm certainly aware it's a pain in the butt to get out here and the last thing I want to do is pick a spot that's another 3 hours away by car after people have spent 4-5 hours in the air. Tricky dance, but we can figure it out.And you left out poker. I really enjoyed playing that at MHI and would have liked to do more of that and less of watching you guys play Guitar Hero, but I don't think Gatorman wanted me in on his poker games. :kicksrock:
Basically, you want to please two groups. Group 1: Fishing, hunting, hiking, sasquatch spotting, etc.Group 2: Booze, bars, titty joints, gambling, etc.If you can find a middle ground that's close to Portland, you're everyone's hero.
I like all the activities in both groups (assuming I can do sasquatch spotting without actually hiking) I've never hunted before, does that mean we'd actually be firing guns? If so, we should start a death pool. Oh and also I'd like to be able to do something with Kev's wild outerspace hair. Maybe get my picture taken next to it or brush it in the mornings.

When my husband Rudnickis a hat, he is about a 93% match of Tony Romo. I'm not really sure how to feel about it.

You aren't complaining, are you? Hell, I'd do Tony Romo and he's my 3rd favorite Dallas QB of all time. Not many of our wives would look like Alex Morgan with a pink hair band, so I should say consider yourself lucky.

Not complaining. Best I can do with a camera phone and on the sly/without him thinking I'm weird for taking his picture to share with FBG. Not the best representation, but perhaps you can get a feel.

I'd puncture his lung any time.

I think you are spot on. I wish I looked like Tony Romo with a hat on backwards, but I look more like a constipated Rudnicki

hfshad you started a thread saying Tony Romo was browsing on your laptop, here's a pic, i would have had to do a double take

YSR> You have a cute husband. I'm putting him on my "I'd go gay for" list, right under Truck and anyone offering me free Guinness.

No kidding. It's uncanny/freaky when he walks into a room with any kind of Romo-ish grin on his face.ETA: without the backwards hat, the resemblance is more like 40%. Weird.

Slow Cooker Sticky Chicken Drumsticksrecipe adapted from Busy Cooks2 tsp. salt1 Tbsp. paprika2 tsp. chili powder1 tsp. onion powder1 tsp. thyme leaves1/2 tsp. garlic powder1/2 tsp. black pepper4 lbs. chicken drumsticks, skinned if desiredfoil for crumpling up in crockpotIn a small bowl, thoroughly combine salt and all the spices. Rinse drumsticks and pat dry with paper towel. Rub the spice mixture into the chicken. Crumple up foil and put in the bottom of a 4 quart crockpot.Top the foil with the spice rubbed chicken pieces.Cook on LOW for 8-12 hours until very tender. (mine was perfect after 6 hours on Low)The verdict?I put crumpled foil in the bottom of the crockpot, and it really kept the chicken crunchy and not goopy. I took off the skin from the drumsticks to keep the fat down, and with the spice coating, it still created a crunchy outer coating. And you have gotta love the convenience of the slow cooker! This is going into the routine!
I made a modified version of GM's masturbation chicken tonight and holy #### you guys, so good. I only had 2 lbs. of drumsticks not 4 lbs., but kept the seasonings the same except double the garlic powder, add 1 t of Cumin and a 1/2 t of cayenne pepper. Cook on low for about 4 hours or so. They were so good I might have to get up at 4am and have some more, if you know what I mean.

Anyone here in contact with Britney Spears?

I want to buy him a beer when I am in Seattle, but his message box is full.

I have some old email correspondence with him, but cannot remember his real name. If someone could pm me that and I could probably find the emails.
