GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

Watching GM trying to be reasonable in college football threads is worth a read.CFB threads here have to be in the top 5 of most frustrating things on planet Earth.
:goodposting:Now that Timmy is all over them makes them even more so
Oh God. I haven't even seen that yet.Ever since the Mizzou/expansion stuff started, I've wanted nothing to do with those threads. It's just a bunch of people who think your school sucks and their school can do no wrong. It's like 6 year olds pissing on each other.

What percentage of CFB fans are just batcrap crazy when it comes to their team? 50%? %75?I'd say that most hardcore CFB fans are way worse than hardcore NFL fans. Not sure why though.

flu shot is a total scam, but to each their own :shrug:you're given one strain of the influenza virus, the one that they are hoping hits. There are tons of different strains of the virus, and new one's hitting all the time.
Actually I think they give you a cocktail of several of the ones they think most likely to occur. And even if they do not give you the exact one for a particular strain, it may still prevent it because they are similar. All these things mutate so far its hard to predict exactly what's going to be Mr Hams next thread topic.
I think you are correct.I also think it's silly to say something is a scam just because it's not 100%.
I'm pretty skeptical of everything. I don't really think they are a scam, but I'm also not buying into the hysteria that surrounds the flu shot. Now, maybe if I actually got 'the flu' I'd change my mind. But I keep plugging along, breathing the air and drinking the tap water.

Probably 75% or more. That number goes way, way up if your team happens to be ranked in the top 5.It's the conference crap that's the worst. Who gives a damn if this random-### collection of 12 schools is better overall than this random-### collection of 12 schools? Utterly pointless.

How exactly am I being unreasonable? Boise St. beat Georgia convincingly. They are a good team.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. You're being perfectly reasonable, but watching the SEC vultures pounce with their ridiculousness is what's entertaining.

I don't think he's saying you're being unreasonable, I think he's saying your effort to be is an exercise is futility.

A very high percentage. I'm usually pretty level headed....but when I start talking cfb, I get irrational. I have to avoid those threads because it can get pretty heated. Nowadays, I find it more fun to watch the crazy from afar.

Oh, my bad Keys.Guess I'll go over there and take my abuse.

I'm not getting a shot. And I won't get the flu. :statement:
Make sure you wear long-johns under your dress, coachy.
I'm convinced that if I drink enough booze, nothing will live in my body for long.
I know that's accurate for your internal organs.
Don't I have two of everything except a brain?
Yes. This is why it's no big deal to have your spleen out, for example. Your other one carries the load. Same thing with your heart.

Rivals.com Mainboard is the most whacked out CFB discussion forum on the internet, but tigerdroppings is a close second.

We should do a field trip to one or both.

Seems like some people get the shots and then get the flu. I'll pass.
"Healthy, working adults who received influenza vaccine reported 25 percent fewer episodes of upper respiratory illness than those who received the placebo (105 vs. 140 episodes per 100 subjects, P < 0.001), 43 percent fewer days of sick leave from work due to upper respiratory illness (70 vs. 122 days per 100 subjects, P = 0.001), and 44 percent fewer visits to physicians' offices for upper respiratory illnesses (31 vs. 55 visits per 100 subjects, P = 0.004). The study, reported in the NEJM, estimated cost savings at $46.85 per person vaccinated, and concluded that "Vaccination against influenza has substantial health-related and economic benefits for healthy, working adults.""

they're in on it.

Whatever happened with that Alabama/Auburn/whatever fan that killed the tree?
The trial was delayed until sometime in November, I believe. I'm also pretty sure he's on his fifth lawyer. Within the past month, against his lawyer's advice, he went on a radio station and apologized, while still maintaining his innocence. He's not bright.

Georgia isn't good this year. Boringly mediocre? Yes. The SEC has two great teams, one very good team, a handful of above average to below average teams (Georgia included), and two horrifically bad teams.

You mean they didn't give him a medal or elect him mayor or at least give him a free possum?

I got my flu shot last Monday. I did feel sick for a few days, but feel fine now. I started getting them about five years ago because I have a lot of students hopping back and forth to Mexico every week. I also have an industrial sized bottle of hand sanitizer on my desk. Same reason.
I'm pretty convinced this is the worst possible thing you can do.
Well, the school won't keep soap in the bathrooms because the students keep trashing the dispensers, smearing liquid soap on the mirrors and dumping the rest on the floor. What's wrong with hand sanitizer?
Theoretically, it can cause the bacteria/virus/whatever to evolve into more resistant strains.Edit to add: I imagine there is a state code of some sort that requires soap to be in any public restroom. I cannot imagine any semblance of child well-being where their caretakers were required to walk around with e coli on their hands.
Not to mention that your own defenses never learn to fight off anything on its own.
The first couple of years teaching I caught everything, including the flu. I think my defenses are getting the hang of it now.

That team that dresses up like homoerotic gladiators?

I need some help with my computer. My school just upgraded me to a new computer. I went from XP to 2007. On the oldie moldy XP, I had most of my documents hidden, so that I could just make them disappear for when I had a sub. And I forgot about that when they saved all my files onto a server and then ported them to this new one. Now I have no idea where any of my files are, if they even made it to this one. How can I show hidden files?
