GM's thread about nothing (34 Viewers)

Brian Billick is great at this color commentary gig. I just called SoCal drivers 'idiots' when a few drops of rain hit the ground. So true. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Also, I liked this: "The only dumb question is the one you don't ask". I like that.

This watching games at home isn't half bad.

"There's no stupid questions, only stupid people."

Trying out a recipe for sweet potato cakes with cilantro lime sauce. It's a possible Thanksgiving dish. Hope it works out. :fingerscrossed:
Result: :moneybag: The sauce is a sour cream base and an excellent contrast to the sweet potato cakes. This will be on the Thanksgiving menu.
I'll take a PM. Mrs. Ignoramus is on some caveman diet (lucky for me, cavemen only lived to about 30) so hopefully I can adapt the sour cream dressing to something containing soy milk and almond flour. I think sweet potatoes are kosher, though.

Yeah, I would encourage more recipe posting up in here. I love trying new things and wouldn't mind indexing some of our better efforts on page one. Osaurus seems to have some great tricks up his sleeve.

:lmao: and yeah, that sounds awesome.

what was the other thing Osaurus cooked recently? sounded great, IRRC.

My buddy Brent invited me and Cooper over for dinner last night to watch LSU/Bama. He's become good friends with my divorce attorney, Kevin. He was over there. Good times. Brent made a lamb dish with rice that was absolutely sensational. I'll post that one when I get it. It was outstanding.

For now, Arz driving. I'm playing against Brown in mystical football and he is killing me.
I have no idea who Brown is. None.
The former Seattle kicker. I thought perhaps you may have heard of him, Forrest.
First names down?
Not sure how this is any better, but whatever.

:lmao: Come on...it's not like his last name is Janikowski or Rudnicki...Brown is like Smith or Jones. There's not much food in the house. I just ate some pepperoni that's probably been in the fridge since August. Will I die?

Been trying to get more interest in the FBG Food Blog thread. I will post the sweet potato pancake recipe, but you can easily find it on the Food Network site. I have some tweaks for it. I will put it there and link it here when I have a chance.

Can we mix in a touchdown for our "game of the century" 2011?

Congrats to GM on his epic victory yesterday. That is huge. We lost our baseball game yesterday, really bad, to run our record to 4-1-2 for the season. Last game is next Saturday.

Louis vs. Rick is making me laugh so hard I am crying.

Stache Update - Day 6

Went to a housewarming party last night, my first social event as a single person in, well, since high school. Was pretty cool, fit in pretty well even though it's wasn't my usual crowd. I brought a bottle of wine for the host, while the alcohol choices at the party were, Bud Light and Miller Lite. A couple of really cute girls there who were super friendly, but also huge smokers. Got to decide if that is going to be a dealbreaker early on. So far it is.

Stepdad is home from the hospital. We know it's cancer, but don't know what kind. Should get the results on Monday where we can go and get another opinion.
Whoa whoa whoa here fella....these are PRECISELY the girls you need to target. Girls that smoke, do it. I know they ALL do it, but they are MORE LIKELY to do it with a freshly divorced, moustache sporting, floppy hair dude so I strongly suggest you take that 'dealbreaker' nonsense, throw it away and adust your target accordingly. Find the girls that smoke and initiate conversation. If you can, find out what their daddy situation was like...their self esteem. Any tattoos? If so, GREAT! You'll be getting more tail than a toilet seat in no time.
Thanks GB. This is exactly the kind of advice I need right now. Less about Miss Right, more about Miss Wrong Right Now.
There you go....Yeah, smoking it pretty gross (i'm reformed but will sneak a cig every so often if the mood is right i'm drunk enough and when I do, the taste it leaves in my mouth and the smell of my fingers :softball: sickens me. But right now, your job is to go Stu the entire DFW Metroplex. Now, when you look like GI Joe and are the commissioner of the Park City Twister Club, you can be selective. But the rest of us have to look for the gimpy prey and smokers are going to greenlight us before the marathoners.

Also, get to know a pharmacist and have him point out all the chicks around you on the pill, frequent Plan B buyers and maybe some Valtrax users.

The Rams had 9 at that time and I thought you may have seen the score.I'm pretty sure pepporini, like salami, can't go bad which why the are the most awesome of meats.

I eat well and it's not all that time consuming. If you like Asparagus, throw a handful in a pan or skillet (the thicker the better), put about 1 tbsp of olive oil (better yet, garlic infused olive oil) across it, throw in some lemon pepper, push the asparagus around to get it all covered with olive oil and the pepper, cook it for around 5-7 minutes until crisp (not soggy) while still occasionally moving the asparagus around so it doesn't get brown on one side, and bingo. Easy, and good.Extra bonus points for pungent urine about 90 minutes later.

I didn't know there was a cooking blog for us. I'll have to check that out. I started one at LABS a few years ago, but Bostonfred's thread took it over and nobody posts to mine anymore. :kicksrock:I just started cooking indoors a few years ago, so I'm kind of new to it, but love it. My wife is a great cook, so she does most of the cooking, but I love to get in there.

I've grilled asparagus for years with a similar formula...coat in olive oil, cracked black pepper, Tonys then grill three minutes tops. Great stuff. Love asparagus.

Are any of you going to pay money to see Jack and Jill in the theater? If so, will you defriend me on Facebook now? Thanks.

Girlfriend moved to an apartment the next block over - behind my complex and three doors down - a month ago. I'm preparing to do my now-traditional, bi-weekly Sunday morning walk of shame. :drive:
sleeping over down?
I don't know whether to make fun of Trib for doing the girl's "walk of shame," or to admire his efforts at keeping his den estrogen free. This situation perplexes me.
We get about 4 nights together every two weeks that are kids-free under normal circumstances given our respective custody schedules. Neither of us wants to openly sleep over with the others' kids there. There are times, however, when . . . well, the bear is hungry, the bear gotta eat.

I would like to strangle the person that thought of showing hot cheerleaders then immediately putting a corporate logo over their awesome parts.

Huh, never grilled it actually, and I LOVE to grill. I average 4-5 nights per week on my grill. (I also just got my girlfriend's ex's smoker that he left at her place, and I can't wait to learn how to use it - I also can't wait for him to find out that I got it  )As for Facebook, my last status update was, "Is the quantity of one's Facebook friends beyond the Dunbar number, multiplied by the frequency of status updates, reflective of the person's need for iattention?" One of the two people who responded is the biggest Facebook attention whore I know...

Tipsy was nice enough to set up the thread and the subsequent blog. Posts have been scarce for a while and with the holidays rapidly approaching, I thought it would be a good time to try to spark more interest. Here is a link to the thread where the food blog link is. Enjoy!

You should be okay if you chase it with some of that leftover sherry that didn't kill you yesterday.

I grill my asparagus the same way but use Cavenders. of course I don't have a grill now. If I win these eliminators I'm buy one of those Green Egg things.

Grilling is 5% better, but if you just cook it in a hot oven (400 degrees) on a sheet pan, its almost as good.

I never did anything with the sherry...i was just curious. i bought it in the same section where they sell white wine. I DO know that white wine will go bad. :X

I grill asparagus for Mrs. Osaurus as I don't really care for it. Cut off most of the fibrous stalk, drizzle on olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Grill for a couple of minutes. She loves it. I actually do the same thing for fresh green beans and sweet potato wedges. The sweet potatoes undergo a slight parboil first.

Wife is making some sort of roasted pablano pepper tomato soup with grilled cheeses tonight. I might....MIGHT...be able to muster up a 2nd inning for her tonight.

I bet you've had some odd smelling golden showers.
