GM's thread about nothing (26 Viewers)

I had a great cocktail last night at the Crow Bar,

Muddle two slices cucumber, sprig of mint and slice of ginger.

Add 2 oz cucumber infused vokdka, shake and strain over ice.

Top with Ginger ale (maybe an ounce or two).

They called it a Moscow Mule, but according to the internets, a Moscow Mule uses only vodka, lime juice and ginger beer.

Anyway, I had three of them and she charged me $27.

Me, "I thought it was the Monday night special."

Her, "It is. This is Tuesday."

I wish all my mistakes were so tasty.

From another board I read: doable homeless girl underneath the interstate with pic on page 2http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/p/30773655/Doable-homeless-girl-under-I-10-at-Metaire-Rdupdated-with-pic-on-pg2-a.aspx
6: Hottest girl living under that particular bridge.

The major problem with “Friends” is that the tepid Timberlake and full-on sexy Kunis seem woefully mismatched. She’s a human barracuda, feisty and full of energy and capable of emotional swings that could knock a truck sideways.Timberlake, not so much. And that’s really disappointing. He has often been hilarious in his frequent appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” but in an extended film role, especially one in which he is required to do more than comedy, he appears diminished, a wan, pale presence. If Jamie and Dylan existed in real life, she’d dine on him for breakfast -- no sexual pun intended -- and be ravenous again by 10 a.m.
who wrote that garbage?
a woman who writes film reviews for a living.

GM> I'll take that Panera card off your hands if you're in a giving mood. I promise to laud you with praises on your next several uber moves/picks.
I will send it to you on one condition. You must send along to another person in this thread something you got for Xmas that you don't want. And so forth....A festivus tradition for the rest of us.

How does this sound for a wing sauce? Any suggestions, criticisms, or critiques? I'm just making stuff up here based on what I have in the house.

1 c. Frank's Red Hot

1 T cayenne

2 T butter (melted)

3-4 cloves garlic

2 T Red wine vinegar

1/8 c. brown sugar

1 T worchestershire

juice of one lime (50/50 on this)

I got almost nothing for chrismtas and all of it I either explicitly wanted or bought myself. I can, however, send a box of movies to YSR since I know she's interested. Assuming she can send something to someone else.

Wife's parents gave me a gift card to Rite Aid
:lmao: Oh come on.
Why is that any stranger than a gift card to Target? It's better than Target because of their selection of beers. It's my favorite store.
Panera Bread (anyone want this?)
You just giving it away?
Tre's going to get it. See if you can get him to send you something he doesn't want that he got for xmas.
Looks like Shuke gets the second season of Raising Hope on DVD from Kubes.

You couldn't pay me enough to go near a mall this entire month. My commute home was 20 minutes longer than it needed to be today. Why? Because of all the jackholes trying to get into the mall. Slowed the entire highway down. This is why I do the bulk of my shopping at Rite Aid.
Took JR to the mall today. Got him on the carousel, where he immediately started crying for the train instead. Bought train tickets, handed them to the conductor, and he immediately started going ballistic wanting the bounce house instead. I briefly considered it, but chose to give him a free beating and ride home. In conclusion, I like your idea better.
Yeah, well....I'm about to do the second stupidest thing you can do this time of year. I'm going to the gym to run. Hopefully, there's an open treadmill that will support my new weight class. :bag:
streets are usually pretty wide-open this time of year, gb :coffee:
The bitter cold forces me inside.Plus, I don't belong to a fancy gym. If my rec center were a bar, it would be a dive bar with Hamms on tap, Whitesnake on the Jukebox, broken pool sticks and Homer bartending. Yeah, it might get an influx around this time of year, but the entire place is about as popular as an STD on a porno shoot.

4 miles. Back feels back to normal. Pains all gone. Feeling loose and feeling good. Also, signed back up for Body Pump for the new year. Just me and a bunch of portly women in spandex. Or as Gadzooks calls it, paradise.
I recommend upgrading, my friend. You shouldn't underestimate the extra motivation to go when you know plenty of hot private college girls will be there in sleek gymwear. I'm not saying you go to ogle or perv or anything like that. This will get you kicked out (if lucky) and/or kicked in the nuts. I'm saying when the scenery is nice you tend to enjoy yourself more, and this helps get you to the gym. Plus the guys at upper end gyms tend to know what they're doing and are pretty cool & friendly about sharing info.
Oh, I'm happy with the Rec Center. I've been doing boot camps and weight training there for 3 years and signed up for more classes this year. It's a mile from my house, incredibly cheap and I never have problems finding a treadmill. When it rains, I run inside. When it's nice, I run outside. Oregon outdoor running beats any sort of gym and the gals running outside on a nice day cannot be beat.

I finally got a package in the properly sized box to gift you.And if this isn't the best gift you receive this year, I have misjudged you.

Nice...I think PV will be getting one of these soon for her photography bidness.
We're thinking that might be in the future.
Current wife has been doing freelance photography through her 'business' for 3 years now. It certainly doesn't pay the bills (her photography job with 'da man' helps with that) but she has been able to sustain a nice 'side business' taking photos for people. She did a shoot for Monte Williams' family 2 years ago, before he became the HC for the Hornets. That was a highlight. Google recently did a "Living Social" type promotion/knock-off that she did that netted her some new leads.Curious what your photography opportunities will look like. Been kind of fun watching her work, but she won't retire on it anytime soon.

My husband is contemplating getting his own account here, as he's on this site about as much as I am. He asked what his username should be, and whether it should be tied into mine. I said it could, but that others have had success with completely different usernames. I mentioned k4 and OH. And for some reason felt compelled to share the following:Way back when I first joined this board and very shortly thereafter, chat, I stupidly believed that people kept notebooks. So I started my own. I don't know where it is now, but I recall that one of my entries was something along the lines of:

k4: super rich; could have you killed
I laughingly mentioned this to him, and his response was simply, "well, that only takes a couple thousand dollars."
I think maybe the two entries were meant to be independent of each other. But yes, start hiding...
To be honest, I think the exact quote was "could have me killed". I sent a pic of the page to Thorn one time, about a year ago. Was a great find.
I'll check my archives this weekend. I may still have this.

I don't ever want to go back to work ever. God life as a teacher must be sweet, what with the getting paid way too much, short hours, and massive vacation time. Plus you can be like, 70 years old and still do it.

A friend of mine's wife starting doing this and was able to buy him a pair of socks for xmas.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: My wife also has quite a bit of student loan debt from getting her Masters in public administration, which for some reason hasn't quite paid off for her yet.

YSR should just erect a giant crane that dips into her Hoarders' Paradise, drops down, scoops up one item and deposits it on the outside of the fence like a real-life $25 cent game you see at the entrance of all pizza parlors. She could make a fortune charging $5 for a spin in the crane...could even set up a webcam or even remote control access so we could drive it like one of those robots that difuses bombs.

This is beyond a shameless plug, but my wife has this etsy shop with some hand knitted stuff. If you like that kind of crap it's pretty good. I'll make her cut you a deal or include a naked pic if you order anything and mention you're from "that nerd football message board."
I need a cap, how much will those baby caps stretch out?
Give us a size: newborn, 0-3, 3-6, etc.
50-60
Months? What is that, like, 5 years?

Its for me

Never mind. I just ordered some towels for the kitchen. I guess I need those more than a baby hat or a wreath. She might want to expand her offerings to something useful.

Sorry for being ouch-inducing. I was honestly trying to be helpful. Pimping baby hats and wreaths after xmas to this crowd seems kind of a tough sell.

Yeah, my idea of posting this link would have been more helpful a month or so ago. Unfortunately I'm not very bright.

Also, if it had not been for your PV, I would have never signed up for an Etsy account to make a purchase. Just giving you feedback.

Wife has a D300. LOVES it. She's a Nikon fan.
Wife has a Canon T2i. What's the difference? Is it like Audi vs Kia?Took some great honeymoon shots with it
Nikon seems to be the system of choice for pros and semi-pros. Canon makes some fine cameras, and the T2i is plenty capable. The D300 that GM's wife uses is more of a pro-style camera. It's similar to the D90 and the newer D7000 in that it uses a DX format sensor and is crazy fast (~8 fps). It's a little older and thus has a 12.3 megapixel sensor versus the newer models which are exceeding 18 MP, but it's still a workhorse in the industry and probably will be for some time.A lot of what you see with the higher end DSLRs are needless features that only pro-ish people would even think to care about. For example, having two memory card slots is terrific for backing up your work. These cameras also feature better weather sealing for keeping moisture and dust out, something that would potentially be a problem over time. They also have sturdier construction like magnesium alloy bodies that would hold up better. The consumer level stuff is almost always optically in the ballpark as the cream of the crop, but you miss out on some of the versatility you'll get with better equipment. What's interesting is how easy it is to access premium photographic technology these days. Given that film is essentially dead, there's really no mystery to taking great pictures anymore. You can just trial-and-error your way into it and learn on the fly. You used to have to be really careful and meticulous to avoid making expensive and time-consuming mistakes, but those days are gone. Sure you can't be some studio guy and fumble around with equipment, but the learning curve is much more shallow than it's ever been.Given the above, there's still the issue of knowing how to harness light and artistically frame a shot. It's probably impossible to teach this. You either have the eye or you don't.

In Cambodia and im ditching the Malarone. I'll risk malaria rather than dealing with this belly ache and crazy dreams. Why the ######% do these symptoms pop up after 5 days on the stuff?! Not cool man.
DO it British-style. Seven Gin and tonics a day.

 Thanks, good info. She bought it about 2 years ago for a grand or so I think. It's more of a hobby for her at this point but she's got some books and wants to take classes. Though I don't think it will ever become more than a hobby. I think she has the eye but she couldn't tell anyone the difference between aperture and exposure at this point.

Bought a $25 best buy gc from a friend for $23. I then bought a $25 itunes gc from best buy for $21.25. Going to mail the remaining $3.75 to kubes or furley if I can find either of their addresses.

The New York Times just discovered that people shop drunk. What a surprise. I had to disable the 'one click purchase' on my Amazon account years ago. But not before buying some real winners like a Bob Wills box set that I never listened to in honor of my late grandfather, a collection of some knockoff Girls Gone Wild videos called Dreamgirls, a Buddy Christ action figure and other assorted goodies.
They used to have a daquiri stand at our mall
Your town has daquiri stands at PTA meetings.
What?! I'm moving to Tiger's Fan's to...oh wait, crap. It's Detroit, isn't it? :sadbanana:
