GM's thread about nothing (41 Viewers)

Today is a "floating holiday" at work. Anyone could take the day off if they want to. But if you show up and work, you can take any other day this year off as a holiday. Since our crews are working, everyone in my department showed up, except for a few assistants. There was no traffic in LA today. None of the executives are here. My boss didn't show up til 11:00. He took one look at the empty parking lot and said "Eh, if nothing's going on today, why don't we all leave early?" So now I get to goof around all day, and get an extra day off later on. My project for today is to call our vendors and see if they have extra box seats for the Lakers game tonight.
Boss just left for the day. Nice 3 1/2 hours of work. Having trouble staying awake at my desk. Phone hasn't rang in 45 minutes. Might take a nap in the back room. Lakers tickets on the way.

Maybe because I just pounded a >11% alcohol beer while my daughter watches Phineas and Ferb, but I kinda wish there was a website of people trying to make Perry the Platypus sounds

Sorry to hear about your problems at work, Essay.

Just had an ear lavage done. What emerged from my left ear was a ball of wax approximately the size of a large blueberry or small grape. I am thankful for the ability to hear once again.
I had this done a few years back. Great experience. The doctor that did mine had me hold a container against my face just under my ear to catch the water. Well I guess I wasn't hold the container in the right spot... Long story short I walked out into the packed waiting room with pants that looked like I wet myself.

lol No, but relatively close. When Saarinen designed the concept back in the 30's St. Louis was the 3rd largest city in America I think. Part of the deal was to keep the whole are a greenspace. Pretty revolutionary at the time and STL was heavily polluted so it was needed. By the time it was actually built however (thanks nazis!) STL was on a major decline. We have plenty of greenspace now, Forest Park is something like 1300 acres itself, compared to 900 or so for Central Park. We desperately need to develop our riverfront but there was a provision in building the Arch that is preventing that. I say nuts to that.ETA

It should also be noted that the Metrolink just happens to have a lot of track in the more affluent areas of the city. Jerkwads.

The more affluent parts of St Louis? Isn't that kinda like having the nicest double-wide in the trailer park?

Get a load of this guy!

anyone watching "Homeland" on Showtime.I really liked Damian Lewis in "Life," one of the great unfinished network dramas. And Claire Danes and the evil V alien empress, Morena Baccarin are pretty hot as his slutty female leads. Not yet sold, but I'm 2.5 episodes into it and still watching
Just finished the season this weekend. I loved it. One of the great shows of the last few years. Claire Danes would have a different career if she had started of with this as her debut performance. I was a fan of Winters (Damian Lewis) in Band of Brothers, and found it interesting to see him in a similar yet shockingly different role.

Yep, this is a damn good show.

What in the hell is that?
A nurse fills a super-soaker with a water and hydrogen peroxide solution and sprays the #### out of your ear canal. Literally.
and then crap just falls out, or is there some sort of suction/scrapping that is done. do you go to a family doctor for this, or to an ENT specialist?
You can do it at home for about $6.

You talking that Debrox thing? I'm interested.

Yes. Debrox followed by flushing with a bulb syringe.

Shuke> I cried during a movie tonight. It was about a father and his child.

I'm getting soft. Should probably eat some nails or kill a kitten or something.

OH HOLY GOD!

I looked up "ear lavage" on youtube. Four or five clicks later and I stumble across this video of a cyst removal.

proninja> that guy Bret who commented in the Ron Paul thread on FB....his profile says he knows 9 languages...but 7 of them are a variant of English (British English, Canadian English, New Zealand English, etc.), and one is Pig Latin.

This is good shtick.

He's a great guy, and extremely republican. He also loves to argue, and he's one of those friends you can argue back and forth with for little reason other than arguing (which is what is happening here) and not be even remotely offended. I am not extremely republican, so we do this from time to time.

Having coffee tonight with an old friend.Have not talked to him in over 9 months, so he knows nothing of marriage councelling, divorce, lung cancer, drug overdose, hernia surgery/getting snipped. Should be a good time. I may have to live post his reactions.
Well, that went about as well as to be expected. Discussing 6 months of a really crappy year in the span of 90 minutes was about as pathetic as it sounds. At the end, he wanted to pray for my marriage. Not only did I not have the heart to tell him no, I didn't even have the energy to tell him that I'm not even sure I believe in the same God as he does anymore. But the coffee was good, so there was that.

PSA: You may mock me for posting about cookware, but I got the wife one of these for Christmas, and it is amazing. (what I really mean is that I bought her something else and she took it back to buy this) Cooks evenly across the entire thing, is super non-stick, and it isn't a coating - you can use metal spatulas on it if you'd like, and you don't have to worry about the coating coming off in your food. It's $150 for a stupid frying pan, but it's a really cool stupid frying pan, and in my opinion it's totally, completely worth it.

My 20 mile commute into work this morning was a little different with the snow. Got a cool picture though
 wow...you really go 20 miles each day? you bring out a different bike/tires for the snow??
20 miles each way. And I often get rides from the wife the last half of the commute home beacuse I'm fat and lazy. And yeah, I've got big fat studded tires on there now. Totally worth it for the looks you get on the snow days.
Thoughts on tires for my cyclocross commuter? I'm still running my 23c ones from my time in CA. I have a feeling that the weather isn't going to be in my favor all winter. I'll be riding on plowed streets most of the time.

I'm not a big fan of arguing. I like jocularity and ironic banter and I think I just waded into a pool of serious business there. My shtick don't go down well with Jesus crew.

Where are you nowadays? I've got Schwalbe Marathon Winter on my commuter currently, when it's not icy I use Specialized borough cx armadillo - I spend about 10-12 miles of my commute on gravel, so I like the 32c tire. Armadillos don't so much go flat, and that's awesome. I've also got some 25c specialized roubaix road tires I'll ride when the weather's good, and a pair of 27c challenge parigi roubaix tires that can do the dirt pretty well and roll faster, they just aren't as good with flats.

:lol:The other guy is a pastor, and I don't think you offended anyone at all.

is it or is it not true that you targeted the two black cats down the street for tearing up our doormat

They were the ones doing it!

sounds like profiling to me
There were chunks of it in their back yard!

circumstantial evidence
Wait, this is ridiculous.

Those cats are troublemakers.

those catslisten to yourself

I don't hold an opinion about black cats, the ones who did that just happen to be black.

Page 2?

I need to buy a new vehicle capable of towing a boat on a double axle trailer. Needs to have a full back seat, so I'm talking an SUV or truck with super cab. Also need AWD or 4WD.

I'd like to keep it around $50K. Yes, I want new. Yes, I know used is a better deal. I don't care.

Considering a Dodge Durango Citadel. Thoughts?
