GM's thread about nothing (27 Viewers)

GM: If I send you another check will you please put a link in the first GMTAN post to that picture of Hock Meng Tay? I think it's necessary.
Done your way, Pilgrim. You just keep those stories coming and we can forget another check. And god help us if Hock Meng Tay ever googles his name.
Thank you!!!! That made my day. I'm gonna look at him one more time and then leave work early and get drunk and do stupid things. HOCK MENG TAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was there a story with our friend HMT or just the picture?
Come on, guy.

:lmao: Sorry, you were probably up in Caribou when it was posted.HMT was some ******** GM worked with. He was described as "a kitten that was good with Excel". GM stated that he would walk up the TV tuned into CNN and stare at it like his life depended upon it several times a day.

:lmao: I just wanted to say as a permanent, long-time lurker that this thread gets me though many a dull work day/week/month with many an embarrassing work giggle. GB all you entertain' people!

Hock (who liked to go by the name Tay) used to go to bed at 7pm every night after spending most of his evening reading financial news magazines. He would wake up at 2-3am and run every day, rain or shine, cold or hot. Then he would come into work at 5:30am and start banging out excel spreadsheet financial models. I had it in my head that Hock Meng Tay must run like the wind and in his small office he hung medals he had 'won' for running marathons around the world.

And then, in the summer of 2008, I registered to WALK in a couple of half marathons. I quit Touchstone in April of 2008 and took a few months off before working again, so it gave me ample time to train for the Helvetia Half Marathon in June. Only, I wasn't going to run it. I was going to speed walk like a 55 year old white woman...butt tight in the air, arms tightly at the side, femme wiggle to the heel-toe speed walk. Gay doesn't begin to describe how awful I looked doing this.

When the race day approached, I told myelf I'd walk half of it and then when I got to the half-way marker, I'd start running and go as far as I could go. After hitting the port-a-let and smoke-bombing the place, I hit the half way point and began to run. It was a bright summer day and the tokes were making me feel great, as was the music on my iPod. As I began running, I started passing several slow moving people. I began to feel better and better as the miles clicked away and soon, I was on a nice flat straight-away, passing runners to my right in the center of the closed off farm-road.

Up ahead, I spotted a very slim runner with a build that looked identical to our buddy, Hock Meng Tay. And though it had been a few months since I had seen him, I knew his build and I knew there was a good chance he was in this race. But Hock Meng Tay wakes up at 2am to run every morning. He runs Marathons. No way that's him. He's probably finished by now. And yet he grew closer and closer to me as I ran and I just HAD to pass whomever it was to find out. Finally, I was right by his side, I turned to face him and sure enough, it WAS Hock Meng Tay! So I screamed out "TAY!" over my blaring iBuds and startled the ever loving crap out of the poor guy. He nearly fell over into a ditch. Then he recognized it was me, was horrified that the fat man who never left his chair was passing him in a half-marathon. I wished him well and then blew past him and several other women, children and small Asian men, en route to a 2 Hour, 30 minute finish.

It was, and still is, one of my greatest athletic achievements.

Proof

That and I used to always put sales calls on Park 75 and tell Tay they were for him..."Tay, Park 75 is you"....."Uh, Herro? Ohhhhhhh, I dunnno, I dunnno..." *CLICK* :lmao: He would get so mad at me, but he didn't really know how to vocalize it to me. He'd just laugh and shake his head. Poor Tay.

So....would anyone else be interested in starting another baseball league this year??I am trying to gauge interest, as it seems there were at least a few people in here thinking about it - and I don't really venture into any other threads :scared:
Are you not in for Ace of Diamonds???
Oh hell yes I'm in....was looking for another one too. Had a lot of fun doing AOD and X's league a few years back....if there was enough interest I could setup a live draft or another slow rolling draft. So far this is not looking good tho :kicksrock:
I'd be interested, but I might be the worst FB player in the history of ever.
Just the kind of owner we're looking for. You're in

Yeah, I tried a dynasty league, wasn't really for me.And I kind see that the cake league fills up pretty quick and there are always at least 3-4 guys with interest. I figure if I can get 5-6 in this thread, I'll open up the league to the populace as a whole. We've got three now....Tanner???? GM? :towelwave:

I was out sick yesterday and I guess the sub they had in for me was a real winner.

1. He apparently yelled at one class to "SHUT UP". Only I can yell at my students.

2. He kind of yelled at this one kid (who is actually a very good kid with great attitude) to stop talking. The kid said "Me?". The sub said "Yeah, you...Mr. Braces."

3. On the report he left for me he wrote about another kid "Tate was a real jerk during 4th period".

4. The kids were working on a study guide for a test we're taking today. That means they had all period to find 35 answers and then study them. Piece of cake substitute teaching-wise. But I guess this guy decided he was going to go over the answers with each and every class. Not that big of a deal but for the first 2 or 3 he gave kids the wrong answers to about 4 questions. I had to fix that today.

5. Some girl just told me "That sub was weird. He kept giving all the girls compliments."

Looks like I need to talk to my principal.

You don't want me anywhere near fantasy baseball. I don't follow the game very much at all. I'd probably draft Kirk Gibson and Oil Can Boyd.

Care package received from Frosty today. Just in time, as things have been rough around here as of late (neither of us is having luck on the job front, one of his rental houses caught fire at 2:00 a.m. two nights ago, etc). We will be settling in for much movie watching over the weekend. On kind of a side note, I don't know how much your spouses or significant others know about this place, but I share just about everything with him. He's constantly in awe of the community on FBGs, and in GMTAN specifically. :thumbup:Anyway, thanks, GB.
Enjoy!

The amount of money spent on squares this year by The Syndicate is staggering. I think close to 5 grand in total. We're in tons of $100/$25 squares but the important one is the $1000 square.

NFC-AFC

1st QTR 3-8

2nd QTR 6-8

3rd QTR 8-5

4th QTR 1-7

$25k a quarter, kind of like our odds on the 4th. We have so many freaking 8' & 9's that if there is a safety, we could be rich.

Yes to bombed. No kids tonight or tomorrow night. A GB is coming in from out of town. 3 days of drinking, smoking and gambling. I'm so happy right now.

Who is getting bombed tonight???
:hey:
i've got a happy hour starting at 3:30 and then a date? with a girl that used to report to me. i have a habit of getting drunk and texting her the dirty things and she asked me if i want to grab drinks tonight. not sure what her intentions are, could just be to chat and have fun, could be up for debauchery.

here's a pic of her... Halloween '10:

My link
 She's a brick...house

Sounds like the majority of people are going to get bombed tonight. Should make for an interesting GMTAN/Drunk Thread/DrunkChat/Facebook/Twitter/Text evening  :banned:
Exactly. I never know where to look anymore. Oh and you forgot Monsterpanties.
I keep hearing of this drunk chat business

What am I missing in the gmtan fb group?
Boobs...lots and lots of boobs. And by "boobs", I mean "nothing"

Who is getting bombed tonight???
Eh, might be going out with some teacherfolk after work. Probably not "bombed" persay.
Going out at 8pm to celebrate my wife's friend's husband's birthday because apparently, he doesn't really have many friends (or a personality), and so I'm the default for fun and booze in this budding social circle that includes a few other husbands absent any fun traits like a sense of humor, spontanaity (sp?) or blue humor. I'll probably drink more than I should to over-compensate for the dull moments, but I also have to coach basketball at 11am and if anybody here has ever coached boys basketball before, they can likewise attest that doing so with a hangover is absolute freaking hell. So I'll probably keep it between the lines as best I can, but I say that now at 12:40 without an ounce of booze coursing through my body. Things change in a hurry with me.
There is lots of pressure being the "fun" husband
I certainly didn't mean that as a 'LOOK AT ME' statement, but the guys going out tonight are just....kind of boring. They are all dads at the school my sons attend and I don't mind hanging out with them as our boys are all friends. In addition, all the wives get together at least once a month, so I feel like it's important to at least TRY and hang out with these guys socially. But I'd rather hang out with the wives, to be honest. They are more outgoing and funny. Most of my friends are loud, opinionated, funny and outgoing. These guys are just quiet and reserved and it can really drag at times when we are out. I find myself saying "HEY HOW MUCH FOR ME TO EAT ALL THESE SUGAR PACKETS!!!! I'M NUTS, I'LL DO IT!!!!" :excited: :excited: :excited:
I wasnt being sarcastic. I've been that guy in groups of couples where you feel the expectation is you are the entertainment. It can be annoying. You feel like you have to be "on" all the time.

We're in tons of $100/$25 squares but the important one is the $1000 square.NFC-AFC1st QTR 3-82nd QTR 6-83rd QTR 8-54th QTR 1-7 $25k a quarter, kind of like our odds on the 4th. We have so many freaking 8' & 9's that if there is a safety, we could be rich.~This will be the first time in 17 years that I won't have my GB's over for breakfast on Superbowl for pre-pre-pregame festivities. Kind of forgot about that until today.Lastly, a riddle. What is the difference between Mrs. Strykerpks, Mayor Francis Slay (St. Louis) and Joe Bryant?

Mrs. Strykerpks accepted my friend request on FB.
0-9 and 1-5 for me

Want to know what I'm doing? I'm sucking down my second Ultra while reading about how Little Red Riding Hood grew out of a brutal 15th and 16th centuries, where hunger and poverty were so rampant that children and adults were attacked outside of towns...and eaten.

The "big bad wolf" was originally a werewolf, which was a superstition/myth people invented to explain why people were eating people.

So Little Red Riding Hood began as a tale cautioning against cannibals.

This is how I'll be spending my Fridays for a few years. Michelob Ultras and cannibalism.

FML.

FIELD TRIP!!!11

Sounds like the majority of people are going to get bombed tonight. Should make for an interesting GMTAN/Drunk Thread/DrunkChat/Facebook/Twitter/Text evening  :banned:
I haven't had a drink all week for a period of cleansing, but bought a large bottle of Maker's this afternoon. It took me 120 seconds to type this simple post. GDB 11:30 PM.

4 beers with 8 or 9 teacher friends. 4 of them weren't drinking. Pretty lame. Home now and going to finish off whatever left over beers there are in the fridge. I think there are 3 Coronas and maybe 3 Keystones. I'll probably walk over to the store for some real beer later.

I would have asked the wife to go out for a drink but she's decorating cookies. She's trading a dozen cookies for Relay for Life donations. Some of them are freaking awesome.

Update: in the first written version of the story, called "The Story of Grandmother," the girl is tricked by the werewolf into eating her dead grandmother's flesh. Yummy. Then, right after this, a cat calls her a "slut."

:lmao:

I think I'm going to like this class.

Your teachers are lame for Cali. Mrs. CC's friends in LA would all meet up at a cool bar after work, drink like champs for hours, then end the night by smoking bowls in the parking lot. No shtick. In a completely unrelated note, these are also the people who first suggested the name "Phoenix."

No, Ray. That is completely related.
