"If we all started punching everyone who says, "Everything happens for a reason" in the face, would that help to kill that phrase, or would it prove their point?"

- Anthony the Lego Sage

So I went to a birthday party for one of my really good friends. Apparently there was a table of single women that had somehow been warned that I might be a bit of a manwhore at times

Anyway, I managed to connect with one of the girls and I've got to say that I'm smitten at first sight/talk to. No clue if it'll go anywhere or not, but she gave me her number, so I'll reach out at some point. This chick is so ridiculously cute it had me off my game. She's probably 4'10" pd pure cuteness. Oh and apparently she's a 23 year old virgin just by typing this out, I know there is no way this ends well, but it's like an odd gravitational pull. I just can't avoid trying.

Stolen off from FB. It there is a guster "type" of girl, this might be it....

zoinks
My friend, this is too good to be true. Clearly she's a serial killer or a cannibal or both. What I'm saying is go for it! ...just keep a can of mace taped in your buttcrack, and don't let her fellate you. Godspeed!

Supercute. But just a fair warning, the virgin road is a tough slog.

If she's a 23 year old virgin she's either insanely religious or a romantic twit at her breaking point. The gameplan should be to identify this on the first date. If religious, say bye-bye fanatic. If a teetering romantic, make it your mission to bring her a 2oz of hot realism.

Or, you know, you could get to know her as a person and maybe fall in love. But this is the internet here. Stuff like that is unacceptable. ;)

Chatted with her enough last night to know that it's probably not a religious thing. I'm assuming there is a very low likelihood that anything happens here, but here's to hoping!

I tend to assume the worst and hope for the best

Krista,Where is your place in nic? And would you go pacific side or Caribbean side for beaches?
Our house is in Granada. We'll soon have a second house also in Granada. Definitely would go Pacific for the beaches. Planning a trip soon?
Been working A LOT. Getting the itch to get the #### out of dodge.
One of my paralegals was going to stay at my house March 4-9 but can't make it now, so if you're getting out of dodge that fast, feel free to use the house! After that it's booked until mid-April, I believe.

Added three days to my Singapore business trip and made reservations for Bali last night. :pickle:
Alone or with crazy chick?
Alone. I originally had two people who wanted to go, neither of whom I was sure I'd travel well with but one of whom I KNEW I didn't want to go. I used your "oh, Mr. krista might be able to go" excuse. Then one of my best friends from college was coming with me, which would have been fine, but in the end I decided I really didn't want to be responsible for someone else on this trip and wanted to do exactly what I wanted. So I offered her a girls' trip to Nicaragua with our other best college buddy later this year instead, and she was really into that.I love the idea of a few days on my own in a beautiful spot. :)

:thumbup:Good for you. Back before I became paralyzed by my fear of flying, I took at least one trip a year internationally, and was by myself for part or all of the trip in about 65% of those. It's great to have someone with whom you can share new adventures, but the freedom you have without someone is a huge benefit.

Curious as to how your fear of flying got worse. Did you have a really bad experience with turbulence or an in-air plane problem or something?

They ran out of booze in first class and that was also the day she chose to stop sniffing glue.

:goodposting: I didn't realize that the fear of flying was only a more recent phenomenon.

Looks like I'm headed to Milwaukee for Memorial Day weekend. :sadbanana:

Are you talking about the Jazz Festival? Not sure if that's the one, but one of them was cancelled.

I remember RiverSmash. Now looks like I will be there the week before Memorial Day. Gonna catch a Brewers game and visit some friends. Other things TBD.

Riversplash was great until a few thugs had to show up with guns and spoil things. In sadder news, Pepperoni Cannoli just passed away this weekend.

Have always been afraid of flying (the whole lack of control, likelihood of dying if in a crash, etc.), but I worked as a consultant for 5 years and flew at least one round trip a week when I did so. During that time, the fear never left, but I got used to it, if you will. The random sounds and turbulence didn't send me into a tailspin like they do now.

I have a wedding to attend in San Fran in August and it's bad enough that we are considering a cross country road trip versus me flying. BONUS: I've plotted the trip and it takes us right through Oildale.

Did you ever get your SS gift from Keys?

Hey Frosty and other basketball aficionados -

Please explain to me why I keep seeing LIN-SANITY and LIN-WIN all over everything, including the splash page of SI which screams that the LINTASTIC ONE scored 28 POINTS!, but then in the sidebar there's a small print mention of some guy named Durant scoring 51?

The only thing I know about basketball is that if you're white and play professionally, odds are you look deformed. But 51 is still almost twice as much as 28 in this game, right?

Am I missing something?

TIA. Will answer yours.

Hey, they have Chinese food in Singapore?
Who knows. They better have Indian food though or else...
Until I went to India, the best Indian food I had ever had was in Singapore. :)

Can someone explain what the Hunger Games is/are/were/was/will be?
Trilogy of novels turned into movie. Good books that got weaker as the series went on. A dozen teenagers (one from each 'zone') are chosen to battle 'til the death on a tv show. The teens have to play up the reality bit while hunting down/killing the others as audience can send food/tools to the favorites.

This. Supposedly they're very good young adult novels that are soon to be movies. All of the Vader family students are looking forward to them like they're the next Twilight. A man in your line of work (your recreational line of work) would benefit from a quick read. Teenage girls in particular think these books were written by the next James Effing Joyce. They keep telling me to read them. "You have to read them, Jeff!" I keep telling them I'm too swamped with rereading all seven Harry Potters and the Twilight books. "You've read Harry Potter and Twilight!?"

Yea

Krista> Just read an interesting description of Singapore by William Gibson -

[Gibson] describes Singapore as "relentlessly G-rated," the product that would have resulted "if IBM had ever bothered to actually possess a physical country."
You might want to reroute your trip plans. Because the minute you discover that everyone is a child and there's no booze, you'll likely do this.

Had a blast at the Color Run yesterday, although I am still scrubbing neon colors of certain parts of my body today.

Pics over at FB if anyone is curious.

There's plenty of booze there, and some of the best food in the world (chili crab> ), but not much else of interest.
