GM's thread about nothing (37 Viewers)

Tecumseh, very sorry to hear about Mark's passing. Is charvik still posting around here at all? Seems like ages since he's been around.
:hey: I had a forced vacation from the board for giving advice. Apparently it's frowned upon to be direct.I haven't been back since, and probably wouldn't have returned if it weren't for somebody emailing me that you asked where I've been. Is the Copenhagen trip coming up?

Just noticed the Part of the USA Today Sports Media Group thing at the bottom of the page. How far behind am I on this? Weeks/months/years?

I brought it up in one of Joe's threads a month or so ago, but he ignored it and I haven't seen any other comments on it

So, with all the bad news, I can share some good (?) news. It looks like we're staying in Knoxville for a while because, as of tomorrow, I am heading back into the workforce. For the first time in a year. One of Romo's friends has a position in her property management group, and my going to work there will benefit both parties. I'm so excited just to get out of the house, and to have a little extra money coming in. I think it's going to really help things.

And, you know, as much as I griped about moving here instead of back to my hometown, this has been just fine. Strangely, my relationship with my in-laws has improved tremendously since living here, to the point where I can tolerate being around them much more so than my husband. It's just really funny how things work out sometimes.

So, everyone, keep your chins up.

Wife is taking my son to Central Florida Zoo to check out the Zip lines Thursday.http://www.centralfloridazoo.org/zoomairadventureparkI just hope there are no protests that day to screw up traffic.

As long as folks are in a thopra kind of mood... one of my best friends from HS is married to Olympic gold medalist Mark Lenzi. Mark had had some health issues lately, and apparently was admitted to the hospital after suffering fainting spells. He is now in ICU, and not expected to pull through. Positive vibes would be greatly appreciated.http://blogs.fredericksburg.com/newsdesk/2012/03/28/former-olympic-diving-champion-mark-lenzi-hospitalized/
Mark passed away some time last night.I never met him, but his wife is a wonderful person, so I figure by extension he had to have been a good guy. Very, very sad for her...
Top story on my Yahoo homepage today. Sorry for your friend, GB.

I'm thinking of it. Would just be a few days, June 7-10. But while I'd love to get your thoughts on it, even more so I just missed seeing you around. Hope maybe you'll stay. Would more baseball chat entice you? :X

Since this is the bad news thread, I'll mention that there was a murder-suicide at my office this morning. Pretty awful and gruesome.

OK, this is the good news thread! Huge congrats!BTW, there are two ways to read the bolded. I'm going to go with the one that implies the word "can" at the end of the sentence.

Congrats on the job!

Like literally at your office???
Yes. It was one of our employees who was apparently shot to death by her husband (could be ex--unclear at this moment) as she came into work this morning just before 7, and then he killed himself. The scene is literally outside the window of one of my friends and fellow lawyers. I've stayed away but he and others said it was very gruesome. A lot of people have gone home, there are grief counselors everywhere, and the TV crews are still here as it's yet to be completely cleaned up. They haven't released the names yet but, based on what information I have, I don't think I knew the woman who worked here. Sending out throprawishes to the families.

Wow. :shock:Seems like it must be ex-husband (or at least separated). Otherwise, why not do this at home like a normal person?

Looks like I'll probably be visiting Callyfornya this summer. Tanner > is Rosedale anywhere near you?
Rosedale is part of Bakersfield.
Cool, cause I'll be 2-1/2 hours away in Lakewood
That's a little too close. I'm just saying.
I figured it was far enough that I wouldn't feel obligated to cornhole. It does seem to be a little too close to Compton though :gang1:
We could meet halfway. How's Claim Jumper in Santa Clarita sound? We could invite the BSRs.

Does this mean that you can tolerate your inlaws more than you tolerate your husband, or that you tolerate your inlaws more than your husband tolerates them?

Some of the Tacoma Rainiers (M's AAA club) make regular visits to the children's ward of the local hospital...my friend just texted me a photo of three of the players making a surprise visit to his daughter.
