GM's thread about nothing (35 Viewers)

I leave tomorrow morning for Singapore, via Atlanta and Tokyo. Over 27 hours each way. All for a one-hour meeting.Do not want.
oof. Travel safe. Do a shot for the GMTAN while you're over there???
Thanks, GB. Shots are a good idea.

Please tell me you're going to be there for longer than an hour.
I'm actually going to stay for two days. But I really am going over for a one-hour meeting. The rest will be spent eating chili crab and fish-head curry.
I know I'm not much of a foodie but those sound horrible.
If I ever went to Asia for a week I'd come back at 120 lbs.
Really? You don't like Dan Dan Noodles? General Tso's Chicken? Crab Puffs? Man, you are missing out. I would do very well in Asia.
I love that stuff. Have you ever talked to someone who's actually been to Asia?
You think Hock Meng Tay and I just took pictures together? No way, man. We chatted at length.

I loved the food in Thailand and Cambodia. Hell, the first couple days in Bangkok I think I ate about 90% fruit and it was all amazing. The food was a lot of rice and nicely seasoned meat dishes. The middle-eastern district had some great food too.

A Singapore shot would be pretty epic. Especially if she does it in a bar with the bartender saying something interesting we totally can't understand.
I'll try to figure out how my phone video camera works. I'll use a Singapore Sling chaser.
my mom's favorite drink. hard to find a place that can do it properly since most places don't carry cherry Heering and not a ton carry Benedictine

I love the food in Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand. Oh, and Malaysia. Ok, all of it. The only reason to go to Singapore (other than for a one-hour meeting) is for the food. Some of the best in the world.

Ooooooooof

I'm a pretty nondescript poster. I only venture into a few threads throughout the day/night, this one of course being about my favorite.

At work, I don't have speakers connected to my computer, so I usually view the shot threads without sound, which works pretty good for the most part actually. And then early Saturday or Sunday mornings, I check this thread from my laptop at home, before my kids or wife awake and will review the one's I wanted to hear what was said - and check out the Thorn video's, before they are Thorned.

My wife is well aware of this message board and that I read and am a poster here - I play in a few leagues with a few guys from here and there too. Of course at first she thought it was a little strange, but over the years she has warmed to it and doesn't feel uncomfortable with me sending checks to a guy named Florist out in Oregon.

Anywhooo...fast forward to last night, where I am enjoying a few adult cocktails, watching my beloved Rangers :hockey: play and am rejoicing after a victory. So, when the game is over and my wife is watching something on the television, I open this thread up to read a little, and just cannot resist watching:

My wife must have caught the video out of the corner of her eye, and asked what I was watching. I told her about the shot videos, and she at first gave me a very weird look. I of course could not come up for a reason why I enjoyed watching videos of complete strangers doing shots and telling tales....but then my wife starting cracking up and asked me if I wanted to post a video. I said, uhhh, no. She pressed, come on, let's do shots, I'll video tape it. No videos were made. I just went to bed slightly embarrassed. :bag:

I have a friend who moved to Singapore for his wife's job. I think he has McDonalds delivered to his apartment every day for lunch. He's probably bigger than shuke, and he is definitely NOT coming home at 120. Or anything that starts with a 1 for that matter.

Please let Mrs. Guru know that I will be making a shot video in her honor this weekend. I'll spend the rest of the week picking out the right outfit(s) for the video and the perfect music and props to go along with it.

Homer knows I love him, and his rockstar escapades are among the best. But when we last saw him he was a man with no horse, guilty of every crime he's been charged with, drinking BUD LITE LIME by himself at 4am.

Is this the future we want for America?

I made it to Atlanta. Not looking forward to the 16-17 hour flight to Tokyo. Current over-under on number of times I go to the bathroom: eight.

Your wife is a champion.

There's a dude on his phone in the Delta Sky Club, must be 40 yards away from me, but I (and everyone else) can hear him loud and clear. Just said, "I was in the Navy. They didn't teach us how to fight; they just taught us how to #### girls."

Sounds like you'd be safe to just walk over and punch him in the face.

So I made some roasted beets with scallions and feta last night. It had been a long time since I have eaten beets and I thought that maybe I would like this recipe.

Nope. Beets still taste like dirt. And there should be a warning sticker on all beets that tell you that they'll make you look like you crapped out a gallon of blood the next day. I almost fainted when I stood up and turned around to flush. Not cool man, not cool.

I'd rather eat the rat and slug or whatever that krista is going to eat tomorrow than eat beets again.

Someone should have.I just went to the bathroom and there was a rubber glove in the toilet. What the holy hell is going on here?????I'm now safely ensconced on the plane.

I freaking love beets.

Should I get the Japanese meal? There is a "shrimp and burdock roll" among other things.

The chamPagne has arrived! Things are looking up.

The flight is two hours shorter than I thought. Please reset the over-under to seven (and with one banked already). See you guys in Tokyo!

There is port on the menu!
Mrs. Osaurus and I toured a winery in St. Augustine a few years ago and there were tasting stations set up. We had many kinds and then we got to Port. Mrs. Osaurus took a sip and it went down the wrong pipe. She started coughing loudly and the tasting station assistant looked mortified. We got a $20 off coupon and bought some meh Chard. Port tastes like raisins to me. Not a fan of it, but maybe I am missing something.

My wife and I were wine tasting a couple of weeks ago. They had a large selection of port. The wife was trying to make up her mind when the wind kicked up and it started to rain. She just no longer cared which one she drank.

Guilty Confession TimeI have never tried a port. Or if I did, I was too drunk to remember.

This makes the GMTAN drinking hierarchy of sophistication look like this (please slot yourself accordingly) -

Homer ----- Vader --------------- Sacamano & Krista

I'm assuming Sacamano & Krista are the high end?

I have never tried port and only once tried pot.

That puts me somewhere between YSR and proninja.

Must update the bucket list.

I can't stand any sort of wine/grape type alcoholic drink. Wine tastes like wine to me. Doesn't matter if it is $3.00 Barefoot from the grocery store or $75 bottle of Chateau LePew 1963.

I've had just about every alcoholic beverage at one time or another from moonshine and this weird booze in the dominican mixed with roots and plant matter to port and fancy wines and ish. If it can get you drunk, I've likely drank it.

Not sure where that puts me on the fancy scale.
