I would think so. I used to let mine drive when I had too many pops.Remember that guy in Shawshank Redemption who got out of prison, tried to return to society and fit in, couldn't and hanged himself? Freedom sounds so good until you get out there and realize not everybody can be Disco Stu or Gadzooks. When faced with absolute freedom, I don't do very well. Drugs I have no business doing get purchased, woman I have no business dating get dated and my diet consists of all the sort of foods my doctor has told me to stop eating for life. Were I not in the prison of marriage, I would probably be out of a job, homeless and eventually dead. I need a governor pedal, my friend. Only I need a sweet, nice one that will let me hit 75-80MPH and not a vindictive, harsh one that shuts my car off when I hit 55 MPH.

This fascinates me.

But the reason I mention the dream is that I have always thought GM was a great dad - from the stories he's told about camping and the time he spends with the boys, to how accepting he is of his gay son. So to read that he is nervous about being a father again, and to a little girl this time... well, it's just not right. When I woke from the dream and reviewed it in my head, it was not at all surprising that he was willing to do anything to protect his boys.

Thanks. How's the little one? Ours is going backwards on sleep (waking up around 5:30 every morning), but all the medical stuff checked out fine. His gastroenterologist thinks it's just related to his reflux.

Ooof, I don't know that I'm ready for a newborn. I've got it on easy street right now. My boys basically take care of themselves. My life...it's about to get turned upside on its head. Neat.Wife's grandfather died suddenly today. Well, as suddenly as one can go at the age of 92. One helluva a guy. WWII hero, owned his own cement business, raised 6 kids. Lucky to have met him. Every Xmas, he wrote a check for $25 to every single grandkid, their spouses and all his great grandkids. With 6 kids - all Italian Catholic - you can only imagine the amount of multiplying going forth. Lotta check writing for a 92 year old man. Planted a rose bush in his back yard for each of his granddaughters and would sing to them to help them grown/bloom. He had champion caliber roses in his back yard. To this day, he is the only human being I know who LOVED to receive my mother's home made fig preserves. Now that he's gone, I can only hope she gives them to me.

sorry to hear gb. Sounds like you are a better man for having known him. and feel free to have you mother send me that unclaimed jar of fig preserves. They're my favorite thing to spread over my Sunday morning biscuits (unlees she makes the kind with strawberry jello- she can keep those).

Done deal. She has a fig tree in her yard and is always sad when most of them rot off. She has a few neighbors that will pick them and she sends my boys up in the tree to pick them for her preserves, but there just isn't a huge demand for them. I'll be pleased to let her know there is another fig fan out there who would gladly take her preserves.

Ooh... I want to get in line. I love fig jam and I imagine fig preserves have to be similar
