What about Dream Theater and Crimson Project?

I got Louis CK tix but that's not til Dec. I want to see some good entertainment sooner than that.
You should have gone to see Dr Dog taping for ACL two days ago. They are my current favorite live band.
I'd see Dr. Dog live.
So good live. I'm up to 6 times since 2009... and kicking myself for the two I missed. :bag:
Always meant to get into this band. Just downloaded their latest album, which I'm sure is not the best one to jump into. I'm trying to download Shame Shame, but I don't know how to download albums anymore.
I can upload some for you, but probably not until next week. I won't have internet at the new house right away. Remind me.Moving this afternoon. Almost ready but not quite. At work anyway.
Good luck, man. My move SUCKED, but then again, the past occupant left the place in ruins. Hopefully you won't have to deep clean every room in the house. I cleaned Kellen's room out last night. I made the mistake (though a fortuitous one) of looking under his lower bunk bed. Jesus...there were dust bunnies large enough to put in the zoo and broken toys he hasn't played with since he was 4. He'll be 10 in Nov. I'm really alarmed at how poorly she let the conditions of their rooms get, forget the fire hazard in the dryer and the MICE I found in the garage...their rooms were left in iexcusable condition. Really pissed off about this.Moving on....good luck Stu. I'll try and find some more Dr. Dog today so you don't have to deal with it. I need new tunes.

Wifes 20th high school reunion this weekend at an Indian casino. Can't wait to sample the culinary stylings of Toby Keiths I Love This Bar and Grill.
We had one of those open up around here recently. The only reason to go is for the people watching, right?
Every time I've walked by after a Reds game this place is loaded with tail. I don't think it's a "country and western" bar.
There was one right next to the Mens' Warehouse in the Michigan mall my groomsmen and I used to pick up our tuxedos. We downed a couple of beers at one of the giant bars as soon as they opened. Bartender was HOT. Wearing cutoff jeans, boots, tight fitting shirt. She was also a grandmother. Koby Teith sucks, but his bar was alright by me.
I know that outlet mall.I've managed to avoid Toby Keith's hellhole thus far.

I made ice cream with coffee, beer, and Kahlua yesterday. Man, it's good.
Coffee and Kahlua I can see. Beer?Recipe?
basically like this, but I added Kahlua at the end.http://beingthesecretingredient.blogspot.com/2012/06/at-home-with-jenispart-two-kona-stout.htmlhttp://www.dallasnews.com/lifestyles/food/recipes/20110823-kona-stout-ice-cream.ece

Speaking of Country-Western themed restaurants...My 17 year old got a job yesterday. He's going to be working at the same restaurant as my 19 year old. He's going to start off as a host at first but hopefully will move into something with more tips. I'm wondering if I can bribe one of the managers to schedule both sons at the same time as much as possible.
Easily. I'd show up with a fifth of Jack Daniels and ask to speak to the manager in his office. Tell him how much you appreciate him hiring your boys and that you'd be esp. grateful if the worked the same shifts whenever possible. Hand him the booze and wish him a good day.

I was a busboy at a nicer italian restaurant in high school. Solid gig. We'd split some of the tips too from the waitresses/bartenders/hostesses.I haven't noticed many male hosts at restaurants.

You have made a score of posts talking about how badly your wife left the house. As your friend I encourage you to move along and let it go. Righteous anger is still anger and it affects your current family when you carry it around.

So we can't vent now? I've been dealing with this for 5 straight days and it just seems to never end. Every time I go to start a job, it's exponentially harder and more time consuming than I imagined it would be. Very irritating. Thought I could vent a little here, but I'll just keep it inside and let it fester I guess.

Thanks again for the posts, PM's, text, and well wishes. It is very kind of you all and definitely helps me feel better.

TPW to you as well GBYSR.

Yes, my Dad is something else. Having young parents growing up was interesting to say the least. Think about how many wrong decisions you made say at, 28, now imagine having a kid that was 10 (Mom) or 8 (Dad) at the time. Of course it has paid in spades now. Of course it freaks me out to think how when my Dad was my age now, I was 21.

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

There was a huge fir tree in the backyard that had to be taken down two years ago. The guy that took it down left the giant logs/stumps stacked up against the back fence. Last night, I borrowed my dad's maul and went to town. Haven't chopped wood since I was a teenager. Felt great. Relieved some aggression and worked up a sweat like Homer mixing a martini. Did that for 30 minutes and stacked enough wood to go camping for a month. :bowtie: But my god, I'm like 1/16th of the way through. Will chop wood instead of venting.

If you check your notebooks, I'm scheduled for a romantic getaway with Mrs. SLB tomorrow for a couple of nights in Missouri Wine Country.

Is it wrong that all I can think about is tying her up and jamming a ball gag in her yell hole?

So we can stay in the air conditioning all weekend?

So I always have had this ability to be perfectly fine, sometimes even better than fine, after tossing my cookies.

Apparently, my son has this same ability. Went to lunch, got back to my office, he proceeds to head for the toilet, lose his lunch plus some, and is back to completely normal, if not better, before we get out of the bathroom and get him some gum.

I've been working my ### off for the past month or so straight. I don't feel like doing #### today....and I'm not. It feels good.

Supposing I have a legit copy of a European DVD, is it true that all I need to do to play it in my US-purchased DVD player is make a copy of it? Ehow claims copies will be coded "no region" and therefore will play.

Instructions

1

Take the DVD from another region that you want to play on your PS3 and put it in your computer's DVD-RW drive.

2

Open DVD-copying software you have on your computer. Examples would include DVDXCopy Platinum and Nero Burning Rom. Anything that can make a straight copy of a DVD will do.

3

Use the DVD-copier software to make a copy of your DVD. Both Nero and DVDXCopy Platinum will make direct copies of commercial DVDs, so they'll both work well for these purposes. Making a copy will remove any region coding the disc has and effectively make it "Region 0," or "all-region." As long as you own the DVD you are copying, you are doing nothing illegal.

4

Put the copied DVD in the PlayStation 3's disc tray. Despite originally being from another region of the world, it will now play perfectly in your PlayStation 3.
I think most copy software gives you the option to remove the region code.
Yup, but even easier is to remove the region protection directly from your device. Depending on hardware this process is different, but I haven't seen a DVD player that can't do it (since region protection is in the software for the DVD). Do a search on region protection removal for your device, and most likely you'll find a combination of keystrokes to key in on your remote. There could be other challenges, if the DVD your are trying to play is in a different TV format (PAL vs NTSC). If that's the case you will either need a DVD able to play both formats, or re-code it using your computer, and burning a new copy.

ETA: some info here: http://ice.he.net/~hedden/DVD_video_standards.html

Mostly correct, with the exception of pricing. I bought a no-brand DVD player from Sears for $55 that can play all regions and all formats (NTSC, SECAM, PAL) by default. That approach is way less painful.

ETA2: Quick google search shows this as one option: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-DVP3560-Region-Upconverting-Player/dp/B004BI6MVS

Another benefit with this device is that it plays all formats of discs, including Play CD, (S)VCD, DVD, DVD+- R/RW, DivX, MP3, WMA, JPEG, DivX Ultra, DivX, SVCD, DVD Video, Video CD and most video/file formats without conversion.
Awesome, thank you!I poked around google about removing the region restriction from my PS3 but it was way over my head.

I picture it being full of drunk, slutty kentucky girlsi might as well just call it my new home?
Let's make it a point to go here when I visit. TIA
When's this now?
Shooting for Derby 2013. STAY TUNED

I call this "home ownership"I'm not very handy, and glad I don't have to do what you're doing right now.
No biggie. I'm relieved to be back into a home, just surprised to find it in the condition it was left. Not another peep out of me about it.
Peep away. it does a body good

I like to read the rantings of others. Makes me feel better about myself.

Anybody in here live in Des Moines, Iowa? I'm getting ready to head there for a week and a half.
Pickles is in the same state, if you're up for some condescension and reality show talk.
I'd have a beer with Pickles. Pretty sure he's not up for a few hour drive to have a beer with me though. What say you, professor?
He's incredibly nice and surprisingly genuine and polite in person. I was expecting David Spade but instead I got a Golden Retriever.

GM - have you ever been to the Hopworks Bikebar? The Mrs. and I are headed down for a very quick trip to Portland tonight to visit some friends and we're looking for a place to grab a beer tomorrow. I like beer and bikes, so this place looks appealing.

Does anyone else work in an office where people are adopting "standing cubes" or "standing offices"? WTMF? I heard yesterday that a bunch of people here were getting standing cubes put in and then saw one today. Basically they take away your chair and put everything up higher so that you can stand up instead of sitting while you work.

I repeat, WTMF?

My partner has a hydraulic desk that can be raised or lowered to work standing or sitting. He probably stands 90% of the time.

We have raised cubes in our quality lab. They all come with elevated chairs. But when my boss comes in, he uses one of the cubes and always stands, says it does wonders for his bad back.In my office, my desk is normal height, but I have thought about raising it. What I really like is the treadmill desks that are out there.

Yes..we have a few here. :shrug:I'm thinking about getting one.

There's a gal here that has a chronic back condition that uses one because its more comfortable for her but I otherwise agree that it sounds awful.

Just got word that we won't be dining at The French Laundry by Toby Keith but that the whole shebang is actually at the clubhouse of the golf course next door to the giant inflatable Indian casino. That sounds like an even worse deal. All this so AngryWife can show the popular girls from high school that they're fat and stuck in the town they grew up in and she isn't.

Standing cubes are what's wrong with America. Once we give up our right to be lardasses, what will they take from us next? Pron?

Hosting is typically an entry-level position at this place. The funny thing is I don't think he realizes he's going to be working with a bunch of hot girls right about his age.

My wife yapped all during our Vegas trip. If it wasn't for the tremendous amount of sex I probably would have ditched her in Searchlight. Oh, one thing I forgot :lmao: . We were playing our favorite slot machine (about the only one we play) "Star Wars Droid Hunt". The wife called Greedo "Guido". I spit watered down vodka out my nose.

Cascade Brewing Barrel House GB. Specializes in sour beers. The Sang Noir sounds weird but is fantastic. Great food as well

Ooh. I dig sours and have some cascade brews in my cellar. This might have to happen.
