GM's thread about nothing (45 Viewers)

Ty Segall is a person. Ty Segall Band is his band. I can't explain what the difference is. Maybe Tufnel can.Guy churns out the music. Just from 2012...

Hair - collaboration with White Fence

Slaughterhouse - The Ty Segall Band

Melted - new solo album due out in Oct. Allegedly space rock?

Also check out bandmate Mikal Cronin. His debut album from last year is good.

Bought a brand new gas grill yesterday and truly feel like that was the missing element for me to really feel like I've moved back into my home. It felt so good to grill dinner up for the wife and kids last night, eating outdoors on a perfect summer evening. Been a busy little camper since moving back in, spending just about every minute of my time working on the house. Finally starting to relax a little and enjoy it...just in time for my MIL to get here for a month.

Oh, and screw painting in the peehole. God I hate to paint, especially ceilings. My neck feels like I went down on a team of yoga instructors for a week.

Slaughterhouse is what I was listening to. Had never heard anything by him before, but it's what I like. Also just now getting into Dr. Dog a bit...it's growing on me. Are there places I can go to find some of this Cronin music?

I painted the majority of the weekend. I still have 2 more walls left. Stupid wife and her multi-colored baby room.

On Saturday morning, I drove down the Gorge to some huge retreat/summer camp type place run by the Presbyterian church, put on a white "Referre" cap and was a Croquet referee for about 4.5 hours, officiating a tournament for members of my mother's church. Figure it's time to build a little positive karma in the bank with some pretty big events on the immediate horizon.

Also, croquet? Man, that's FUN! I might get a set for the back yard.

so i'm going to be in Chicago for the next couple of days.

i think i have a work dinner tomorrow night, but i have no plans tonight

any recos for where i should eat? i'll be staying at the Embassy Suites downtown if that matters

i like all types of food

TIA

Oooof. We aren't even doing a nursery. I put the crib up in Cooper's spots oreiented (and very cool) room and hope that by osmosis, she becomes a sports fan and hates anything dance related. But thanks to the former occupant, every OTHER room in the house needs to be re-painted. The master bedroom? It's purple. Like Barney purple. I wake up every morning wondering if I'm gayer than I was the day before. And the former occupant wasn't much for taping the edges, so there are purple streaks all over the ceiling, like a kid failing to stay between the lines with her crayons. So, you know...at least I don't have to paint a nursery. [/no angry]

Oh, and I got to keep the hat. I'm wearing it today and it might or might not become standard hipster fare, like Flysack and his limo drivers cap.

i've gotten about 12 hours of sleep combined the last 3 days, so i'm not very coherent right now

if it's the one on State Street, you're in a pretty touristy area.Portillo's is good for hot dogs/italian beef and they sell beer. You're close to Pizzeria UNO or Pizzeria DUE.Chicago Chop House is very close. Quartino is good and the italian pizzeria right in your restaurant is good too. I ate there a couple weeks ago.You could even make it over to the original Billy Goat for a shticky burger in a dive bar.

Get to the Public House. It's on the corner of State and Hubbard (only 4 blocks away). There is usually loads of talent with good bar food and a solid tap list. You'll also be right next door to Rock Bottom. I'll reply back if I think of anything else.

The big question is....are you looking at a place just for the food or do you want to check out some scenery??

Wat? Yoga instructors should bend to make it easier for you.

Saw the Ty Segall bat signal. Ty Segall albums are solo efforts where he plays everything. The TSB album was recorded with his touring band. Also, the new album is called Twins. Melted preceded Goodbye Bread. Out.

So my son is in the official Reds kids fan club, and this morning they had a private "press conference" for the kids at the stadium with Zach Cozart (my son's favorite player), Chris Heisey, and Logan Ondrusek. They had the players on the field right in front of the dugout and we were all sitting in the first 7 or 8 rows. When it was time for the questions, they had the kids line up the stairs, and it was about 100 kids long. My son was probably around 70th, and they cut the thing off after about 50 questions. A lot of the kids were upset but it was heartbreaking to see how hard my son was taking it. He cried for about 10 minutes. I tried to explain that he should have felt lucky to be there and to think of all the kids that weren't there. And that I never had the opportunity to do stuff like this when I was a kid.
Was he going to ask Cozart why he sucks so bad?
"Who's your favorite Star Wars character?"
Have TRE ask him via Twitter.

Shaw's Crab House on Hubbard is another idea. It's close and they have a nice bar area for eating that is more casual and usually live music.

Trevor ‏@TREtanic @zackcozart who is your favorite Star Wars character? I'm asking for a nerdy ifriend. TIA #reds #shuke
Dude. I've already emailed the organization with a complaint about the setup and was hoping they'd give us some private meeting. Now he sees this he's going to think it's some hoax.

ZACK COZART BROKE MY CHILD'S TRUST!No, I don't think it's him either...or at least not actively. He has 12 tweets.
