GM's thread about nothing (16 Viewers)

Most of you know my mom is very ill and still grieving over the loss of my stepdad. Taking care of her has been an exercise in frustration control and patience.

The highlight of her life right now is when my kids come over for the weekend. This weekend went well, but the strangest thing happened Sunday. My 3 year old daughter came up to my mom and says, "Grandma, you are going to heaven because you are floating." The room got strange, and I inserted a quick joke to move things along, but it has kind of creeped me out all day today. Felt like our own Sixth Sense moment.
no offense, but keep your kid away from me.
I'll take "Things Homer would never say" for $500

Our local minor league baseball team has an outfielder named Kyle Gaedele. At a game earlier this year I was joking that his great-uncle or grandfather was Eddie Gaedel, the midget that Bill Veeck sent to the plate back in the 50s. I knew the spellings were different but it amused me to BS about it.

Then I saw thisin the Sunday paper.

Guy's a good bit taller than his great-uncle was
This is pretty cool, btw.

About a week ago, I had a sinus infection and while I was at the doctor's I decided to take him through all that ails me.

As a result, I came out of the appointment with a script for the sinus infection, a diagnosis of a deviated septum and some Flonase to see if that would help me breath through my nose better, a referral to a podiatrist for my rather flat feet and meds to try to help with ADHD.

I went to the podiatrist yesterday and have been walking around the past day in mocked up orthotics. My legs hurt a little just because it's making me walk df fervently and probably use little parts of muscles I'm not used to.

My insurance company made my doctor prove that I needed the drugs for ADHD, so it took a while for the script to get filled

I'm about to pop my first legal amphetamine. Should be interesting to see what this does for me...
neti pot, dude.
:goodposting: I used to get 3-4 sinus infections a year. I started using this in December 2010 and haven't had one since. I even stopped taking my allergy meds, what, 3 months ago now? The Fall will be a test for sure but I would try this before taking anything else. Just make sure you use Afrin or something first to open your sinuses up until they get conditioned to you using it.

Bogart, sorry to hear about your Mom, GB. :(

Thanks, all. I did get a shout-out (along with a lawyer who works for me) from the CEO in our emergency investors' meeting last Thursday evening--we were the only people mentioned by name. So that's something, or really nothing.
Was the shout-out, "hey k4 that was some awesome pizza you ordered the other night"?
No, not during that meeting, but he did mention it again later that night. :bag:

Rude, when's your draft in Vegas? That a Saturday thing? Friday? For some reason I can't recall the timing of things last year.
I'm drafting Thursday this year. Not sure what the plan is on Friday yet. Should be free all day Saturday. Sunday I think we are watching the games at the Palazzo sports book.
Is this a good spot for games? I'll be VEGASING for CFB opener.
I don't know, but I assume that it is pretty good. Some other FBG rented a private box in there so we reserved a spot. It's not cheap but I think it includes all food, drinks, plus private tvs and stuff.
How much? How many in a box?
this is the only info on it I got:
We are planning on having a Sunday Viewing Party at Lagasses Stadium. $133 gets you a Private Luxury Box for 30, both morning and afternoon games, food, booze, 3 flat screens, Pool table, games and all the crazyness you can stand.
so, $133/person * 30 is like 4 grand.
Sonofa#####. It's FBG keeping me from getting a GD suite on Sunday.
So are you limited to 3 games (1 on each flat screen)? If so, that doesn't seem to appealing, right?
We won't be going that route for Sunday, no. We might drop by Fri or Sat just because JTG sports wood for Emeril and a few people want to check the place out, but I don't think that's in the cards for a day full of games.
the palazzo, and its clientele in general, makes the front of my underpants tight/moist.Rude>is Dodds going to wear a FBG moo moo again? If so, I am totally crashing your FBG event.

Can't imagine Carlton staying at a place with such a slack-### poker room.
It was cheap and it's where the drafts are being held so it's convenient.Does the room there suck? Don't they host WSOP and stuff?
WSOP are held in huge ball rooms with temporary tables. The actual poker room itself - at least 2 years ago - was pretty terrible. Things could change.
well, Venetian is only a mile away. Probably wind up playing there most of the time.

Pretty sure we gave you a heads up when Vegas talk started all those many months ago.

Yeah, I know, just giving you hell. Sucks though. We're going with some friends and a fair amount of family for my wifes & cousin & cousin's birthday. I couldn't go any earlier anyway and I'm starting to wonder if I'll make the 20th. Breaking your neck is a ####### #####.

MIL leaves tomorrow. Two day window with no extended family in the house before SIL, BIL, 18 month old nephew and other BIL come into town for a long visit. DirecTV gave me three months of free Cinemax, Showtime, et al. One of those months was ruined by a 58 year old woman who refuses to go to bed before 1am and sits with me in the back room thwarting me desires to pour a stiff bedtime drink and take two Bounty Paper Towels with me back to the sofa to watch "Hotel Erotica". :hot: :hot: :hot: Sex is out until the end of this month (Thanks, Hazel, for poulverizing my wife's vag!) which means I'm going to have to make up for lost time in the 48 hour gap.

I wouldn't shake my hand late this week if we meet up.

I'm betting you won't be able to lift your arm up to shake hands if you wanted to.

Possible defriend warning/alert.

One of my FB friends, whom I met through Krista, just posted something about men having problems with pretty girls who are smart. My comment -

"I really don't understand some men. I have no problem with pretty girls who are smart, as long as they do anal."

:lmao:

UPDATE: she "liked" the comment.
