BackgroundOut of the 11 people going, 9 of us are married (5 of those with multiple kids)...so this will be a drinking/gambling (sports book mostly) trip, not a picking up on girls trip. Tiger Fan - yours truly...pretty laid back, likes to drink and gamble in heavy volume Joe T - laid back, quiet for the most part, but comes up with that zinger here and thereBentley - this dude has 4 kids all under 6 and hasn't been on a trip with friends since he got married. Is already planning on using the IV bus tomorrow morning. Will be wasted non-stopJplvr - going to wake up, roll out of bed, play one $500 3-team parlay and roll with that for the entire dayBrother of Jplvr - don't really know him$cupper - funny, loud, has an ##### (in a funny way) tendency...kind of guy you like having in your group, but
when you don't know him and have to listen to him be loud Cosjobs - always with a one liner, laid back, will be gambling a lotTommyboy - usually annoying, but we tolerate him...will be sloppy drunk and I'll hate him by the end of the trip. 1:1 to end up in jail. (editor's note...I think Tommyboy is the right choice here...but not sure)GM - (probably more like a Disco Stu/Guster/GM hybrid....but I needed a role for the thread's protagonist)...not a degenerate grambler like GM, but very well liked; probably the "unspoken leader" of the group, and can roll with anything.Zilla - laid back...will sit there and quitely get drunk and then leave by himself undetected to ride the roller coaster at the stratosphere and then come back and join the groupSLBD - shady (in a good way)...fun, all over the place.anyway, there you have it...a solid crowd that compliments each other well...should be a blast of a trip.
Coulda sworn I was going to Montana this weekend, but I guess not. Who am I staying with...cosjobs I hope!

Just got the call--no go on Amazon. Not surprisingly based on where I was going into it, I'm much more than 
(though a little of the latter due to ego). Believe it or not, it's the first time I've ever interviewed for a job and NOT gotten it. Don't know why as I simply thanked them and hung up. Had a weird vibe from the guy I would've reported to--he seemed wholly uninterested in talking to me at all--so maybe it's because I'm no longer good-looking enough to work there.

My brother just interviewed there and found the whole experience bizarre. He's a compensation professional and told me that Amazon is REALLY good about keeping their comp packages hidden and tying a lot of it to stock options at high prices (so everyone has a vested interest in making sure the stock keeps going up, not just that it stays where it is). Probably. Not for lack of your help, though--thank you again for everything! Overall I wasn't sure I was a good cultural fit, and that might have come across as well. Everyone I met seemed almost cult-ish about Amazon. Not criticizing that as there are certain benefits to it, but it's just not the way I am. I just do my work and avoid the "rah rah" aspects of the job.Bummer. I actually like the idea of their compensation structure as I like its tie to a long-term view. I was concerned this might not fit with my medium-term (Nicaragua!) plans, and I was more concerned at the secrecy surrounding it--very odd to be on a final-round interview and have no idea what the comp would be. But overall I see why this is a good comp structure for the company.Not stock options. Hmmm, external recruiter e-mailed to tell me that, per Amazon, they've decided to rethink the position altogether. Guess I could have let the internal lady get that out when she called. I had discussed with them when I visited because there was a new GC and the process had stopped and started a lot, but they assured me the position was still going to be filled.

Got the call from the doctor.Blood sample, urine sample and the Doc played with my junk while his son (third year medical or so he says) looked on. I think they only needed the blood and urine.Have they, uh, changed the way they test for these?
Came back clean as the first winter's snow. Immediately booked a room at NYLO for this weekend to celebrate with the Wiccan. I am going to destroy.

PM not received. Honestly, I had no idea whether you were still going or not.I was in the Golden Nugget Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There are 48-73 bald dudes gambling in there at any given time. None of them had neck braces and skullginas, as far as I could tell.Perhaps some other time.
