GM's thread about nothing (46 Viewers)

So the files are located on the laptop and the phone via the sync, right?
your entire library is on your computer. you can either put the whole thing on your phone (if you have a big enough microsd card), or you can make a playlist for your phone and just sync what you want.

Dumb joke re: blackberry. I'll probably be the last guy on earth to buy an iphone. I have a 16GB chip in my blackberry that holds most of my music and that's what I use to listen to new tunes.
Dude, I don't even know how to do that. I started a thread a few weeks ago asking if I should get my wife an ipod if she already has a droid. I still don't know. Someone help me here with easy to follow bullet points. If my wife wants to buy/rip music in mp3 format and listen either on her droid or a speaker, what would she need to do?
I'm the last guy you want dispensing tech advice. But I bought a $20 chip about the size of an infant's toenail and put it in my phone. This chip holds 16GB, which is more than enough to house most of my music...or at least the music I still care to listen to. Once you rip (?) a CD to your computer, it is in a transferable file that you can copy/paste into your phone when you hook it up to your computer through the UBS port. Or something. I'm a moron and yet I have about 1800 songs on my phone and that's what I use to listen to music when I bike home.
So what about when you want to listen without headphones? Do they make docking stations for stuff other than ipods/iphones?

yes, just make sure it fits that specific phone. the one I had was specific to a droidx.

That's a really good question, Shuke. I still use my iPod for that at home as I don't know how to put my blackberry on a docking station. But my iPod is only 4GB, so I have to constantly sub music in/out. Being behind in tech means putting up with annoyances like this, but I'm poor. I'm not spending money I don't have on stuff I don't need.

Saw some bluegrass band on Conan the other night which is odd because I never watch Conan and I'm not a huge bluegrass guy. But these Punch Brothers were pretty good. Not a Mumford & Sons fan by any stretch, but they had that sort of twang, only the guy could really sing.
They do a couple cool Radiohead covers. I'm not really into the Mumford & Sons either, but I like the Punch Brothers.
You got any of that I can listen to in blackberry format?
I am helpless with Mp3s and stuff, and don't know how to use a blackberry. Google 2+2=5 and Packt like Sardines with Punch Brothers and you will see them on YouTube. Pretty great.

blackberries play mp3 format fine.

GM, you tell me how to get you the files and I'll get you whatever you want.

What is "Blackberry format?"Here is one I like a lot:

Kid A cover is on their newer album. It's also on iTunes, but I guess that doesn't help : (Hoofsignal?

Seattle guys, we hanging out soon?
Let's do it on a Friday night sometime soon before you leave. When are you leaving again?
Fridays can work for me.
Depends on the Friday if i have the little guy, but I can make things happen. Let me know.
sounds like Rude can only do this Friday. I can't do this Friday or next, but am typically free on Fridays. I could do a midweek something.. I'll be in Seattle next Tuesday afternoon if you guys want to do a happy hour thing.

I could do Tuesday afternoon, but I'd have to leave around 5. Not sure what time you're free.

Random FBG dream I had last night- I was playing MW3, and jumped into a lobby to start a game. There was a person on my team that I, for some reason, thought might be Capella. I had a microphone, but he didn't, so when I asked "Is this Capella?," in response he typed in "Eff Woz."

FWIW, I have a droid and I like to use my iPod for working out. The droid is a tad big for my tastes to be comfortable while working out and I sweat. I'd rather not have my phone get all sweaty. And it's easy to transfer music from a PC to a droid. Your charger should have the USB part already included. Unplug it from the actual wall charger part and wala, you have your cord that connects your PC to the droid. After that, it's pretty much just copy and paste.

Got an interview this morning and then a meeting with a recruiter this afternoon.
Good Luck ..... I filled out a 2nd application/security check papers last Wednesday. That was basically after 2 interviews (so I assume it was a good sign) and haven't heard anything

We had a sweet family moment at the house this morning. Angrywife got out the fisher price nativity scene last night and set it up for the boys. They were both excited to see it this morning but not in the mood to share. When I left the house for work, yuke had the angel gabriel in hand and jr had baby jesus and they were each beating the other over the head with their respective symbols of peace on earth and goodwill to all.

Charvhole on Tuesday?
I could do Tuesday. I'll most likely be done in Redmond at 5pm, have car, but no clue how long it takes to whatever location is easiest for people.ETA: Actually, on Tuesday I will be in Kirkland (not that it's that much difference in distance, but perhaps traffic would be).

I saw Pere Ubu open up for the Pixies in 1991(?) Snoozeville.
I saw the Pixies 15 years after their relevancy and thought the same thing.
You're dead to me.
You sure? I'm pretty sure I'm the only iDude here who could introduce you to my friend* Kim Deal, with whom I hang out sometimes.**
Pretty sure Kim Deal's in Tanner's top five.

You're in my neighborhood. I was assuming Seattle, I could hang out until 6 or so if we stay in Kirkland.

Just let me know the plan and I can try to be there. I probably won't have a car if we meet up before 5 or so.

For Rudnicki or others interested in the Vancouver vs Portland question. Timely article...

My link
Nice fluff piece. What was their point?
I didn't read it all...I clicked on the section where they bar hopped all night and that told everything I already knew about Vancouver and more. Nightlife options are limited and the people are kinda weird and not very bright. I enjoyed the satire of the piece comparing 'conservative Portland' to ultra hip and liberal Vancouver.
