GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

I'm taking out two of my team for dinner tonight to thank them/decompress from the worst December any company could have imposed upon them.Tomorrow Mr. krista and I are flying to Boston, where we'll meet up for late-night dinner with friends of mine from high school, college, law school and Memphis. Should be a great time. I'll pay for it the next morning by spending several hours in interviews and then getting on a flight back to Memphis.I will manage to be at airports or in flight during all of the football games. :kicksrock:

Julio's Cap show up?

Started car shopping yesterday. One of the guys I talked to annoyed me right away but was nice enough. I made the mistake of giving him my contact info in case he found precisely what I was looking for. I told him DO NOT CALL....email only. He's called once and emailed more than once. Each time, he ends his correspondence with "Aloha". He's as white and dorky as I am. Aloha? I haven't heard that word this misused since Mellyhole '08.

someone posted a glowing review of buying a new car through Costco in another thread recently. Might be worth a look once you know what you want.

Yeah, I went through their website today and was immediately met by a non-aloha signed email. Might just be my ticket.Although I also stopped by Enterprise last night on a lark. You should have seen the poor kid who took me for a spin in the minivan when I jumped into the back seat like a spider monkey while he was driving. Also, once I took over the rains, I ignored his plea to turn left to head back to the dealership and instead drove straight into my driveway where I honked the horn until my wife and baby came outside. 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan...might just be the next Malaise Mobile.

Doesn't "aloha" mean hello or goodbye?
yesvery curious to know how it was used at Mellyhole now.
Well keep in mind my notebook is tainted with bong rips and advanced age, but I'm mildly certain it relates to us telling a stripper that MexiJoe was indeed Mexican in ancestry. So she sidled up next to him, stroked his eager face and purred into his awaiting ears "Well, ALOHOA!". :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I need some lawyerly advice....Most of you know my mom died last year. We are finally getting around to selling the house. My sister moved out and now we are getting ready to sell.In her will she stated that the house be split between us 4 siblings. We are all good with that.Do we have to go to probate? What does this even mean? How do we go about getting the house into my sister's name who was named executor so we can sell it?Do we need a lawyer if we all agree with the will? She wasn't rich so we aren't talking about a lot of money, under $200k total if that means anything.
Really the only way to avoid probate with real estate is if the property was in a trust at the time of death, or only one of the joint owners died. Only the probate ct can appoint your sister executor. The will is almost always followed on this if there is one, but the will can't make the appointment. Only the ct can. You'll probably want a lawyer even if you all agree, but it should be *fairly* inexpensive. You need to file an application to have your sister appointed and the will probated. Once she's appointed, she can deed the property to herself individually after giving appropriate notices and assuming there are no claims against the estate. At least, that's how it works in my state. My official advice, of course, is to find a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction who has experience with these matters. I'm just an internet lawyer.
Thanks GB I appreciate it.No trust, just a will. I'll have to look for a lawyer next week.

Yeah, a free dinner should set everything straight.

Bogart..hows your maaaamma? (Ribby voice). Looking for a positive update.
Mom is not doing well. We are actually pulling her off the ventilator tonight and letting her finally rest for good. She has been sick for years, in constant pain for years and the last nine months without her soulmate have been about as much as one person can handle. She is ready to go find him again. I'm at peace removing the machine, my guilt lies in putting her on it to begin with and keep her selfishly here for the last eight days. She has no fight left, and you could tell. It will be a hard few days coming up, but there will be some peace at the other end. Thanks to everyone in here for their support over the last year and change. First the divorce, then my stepdad, double hernia thrown in, and now my mom, I feel like a Debby Downer. But it has been nice to come in here and scream, yell and :wall: instead of going off and doing it in the real world.I promise much positive content and multiple shot videos in the near future.
Damn man.You know it's the right thing to do, but it's still tough for you.Good luck and hang in there.:manhug:

Aloha. Major Affair, at 200 - 1 for the Derby, is worth throwing a few pesos at. If he overcomes the rail and wins on Sunday, those odds will drop precipitously. Since Derby futures close for the weekend soon, it's last call here.

And yes, he's a good play Sunday (4th at Santa Anita). Aloha.

Question for you guys. What is less douchey? Breaking up with someone a week or 2 before Valentines day, or right after? Assume there's no fighting in the relationship, but after 7 or 8 months you realize that you don't think they're the right one for you?
You need to make an appointment or something?
No...I just can't do it before we go on this trip that she already bought a ticket and is looking forward to. We get back February 1st...
The sooner the better.
Do it now and repay her all the money she has invested in the trip. You will regret it if you go and she will hate you even more.

I had a situation once where a chick flew out to see me after meeting at a friend's wedding. After about two days of being around her, the novelty wore off and I made her stay in a hotel and fend for herself. I felt bad, but not that bad.
I feel horrible for her, but for different reasons

Got Major Affair at 150:1 at SB just now.Mahalo
125:1 now. Linemover the GMTAN is. Odds I hit a white trash family member tonight. 1.5:1The hospital is teaming with family already hinting at needing help that my mom was giving them. I go to my phone just to not talk to them. Julio's email made me laugh. I want to hug him and buy him many head hats.

JFC, you're not kidding. I just completely screwed myself. A friend was playing it for me. I posted here, texted him to put down an additional 100, and jumped in the shower. I get out and see he is betting the horse (incrementally of course) and is till adding on at 40 - 1. :wall: Way too low, I tell him stop but it's too late. Can't bet that now, #### me. At least I have 100 on him at 200 - 1 from earlier in the week but damn. It's still just a shot in the dark at this point in time and no longer a viable play at all.
