GM's thread about nothing (6 Viewers)

I didn't check my work e-mail for a day and see that there was a conference call I was supposed to be on...at 5:30 yesterday evening. :scared:Forgot to mention that another highlight for me were the Stoner Poodles and the little yippy dog that was always bouncing around between them. Those dogs rocked.
A conf call an hour before the Super Bowl? #### those guys.
:goodposting:This isn't Russia. Is this Russia?

Another great moment for me was the first time I met SLB. We went through a miscarriage about three years ago, and Bob sent me this great PM about how they had gone through the same thing and it was going to be ok and call him if I ever needed anything.I never adequately thanked him for what the words meant so I figure that Friday is my chance. I get there and thank him and tell him how his words really helped me through a hard time.Bob takes it all in, looks me right in the eye and says "I am so ####ed up right now."

:lmao: :lmao: Oh bull####. I was seriously touched man. It was really great to meet you and the your boys.

I was approached by Lady today that wants to use AO to house a womens soccer team for two month. Six players ages 22-29 (the rest live here or are staying elsewhere). I think I need to do these, even tho I would probably lose a little money. They'd be staying in the rooms that housed Stu, Bogie, uni, homer, gm and kevzilla. How could I capitalize on hosting them?
"We are but eight score young blondes and brunettes, all between sixteen and nineteen-and-a-half, cut off in this castle with no one to protect us. Oooh. It is a lonely life: bathing, dressing, undressing, making exciting underwear...."

Are you going through Wisconsin? I thought it was like 200 miles from Tennessee to Texas.
1040 miles door to door. Coolest part is that we are currently sitting still on I-40 about 40 miles east of Little Rock. Actually just idling in Park. No idea what's going on, but I can see about 3/4 mile of trucks ahead of me, most with their engines cut off. This drive is shaping up nicely.
THIS IS BULL####!!! You should already be at the coast by now.

You're a righteous dude, Bob, but let's be honest - you like a drink.

I can't imagine being in a car driven by a pregnant lady for that long. 60 mph, then 80 because its hot and im getting pissed, then I saw a place that said frozen yogurt a mile back I think im going to turn around, then did you remember to mail that thing? Is that how you're going to be when the baby comes? Then stop to pee, and repeat the whole process. That's not even the amount of time it takes to watch one breaking bad episode. I would watch naked terrorists kill puppies with the still screaming heads of dying babies if it would allow me to wear headphones on that road trip.
:lmao:
Oh holy ####... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Very true GB. Sober February couldn't have gotten here soon enough.

I'm reading my 5-year old son the Hobbit, the Rankin-Bass illustrated version with pictures based upon the art from the late-70's animated version of the film. Last night we read the chapter where the back of the cave opened up in the mountains and the goblins captured all the dwarves. Of course he's freaked out the moment I turn off the lights last night and can't sleep and after I try to calm him and ultimately turn on lights bright enough to help guide German flak against the British bombers over Berlin he finally crawls in bed with me at 0-dark-Osama and falls fast asleep while making sure to kick me every two minutes. So I picked him up early today from his after-school kindergarten day care with the idea that we'll have an early dinner and I'll put him down early. He's too tired to do anything so we start reading the next chapter, the one where Bilbo meets Gollum. I'm reading the riddles and imitating their voices, including Gollum's hissing, talking to him about the symbolism in the riddles ("You see, the golden treasure inside? What's inside an egg like that? A yolk, right?"), only to look down and he's asleep leaning on my shoulder. I have no idea how many riddles ago he fell asleep. Fortunately my laptop was within reach, as was my drink. My back is starting to get stiff however...

I don't say that by way of criticism. And BTW, it kills me that I missed coshole. Damn that sounds like it was fun.

:lmao: Either way, it's pretty accurate. The whole weekend was pretty awesome on so many levels. Really wish you were there. Mrs. SLB told me to say hello.

why isn't GM staying for the super bowl?
He has a good friend in Dallas who is pretty sick (terminally ill?), so he's headed to Dallas for a Super Bowl party with him.I got him to the airport on time, and other than the fact that he walked into the United terminal when he and I had just 90 seconds earlier established that he was flying American, I feel good about him making it to Dallas.I'm going to miss that albino. :lmao:
Thanks for the lift! I felt like I spent a disproportionate amount of time in your vehicle compared to others. Surprisingly, nobody would let me drive their cars. Dinner Saturday night was awesome, even though it was the next planet over. Bob, thanks for paying for that. Damon, thanks for having my stupid, sophomoric and disorderly fanny at your lovely property. You are a wonderful host and an even better friend. Homer, sorry I didn't have sex with you the second night. I was just exhausted, but I did like how you were watching late night soft core porn at 3am. Guster, Stu, Bogart, Uni...ya'll were nice to include me in your conquests on Friday. Sorry I wasn't able to pull more leg for our group, but I think deep down, every woman I met in Austin dug my chili. Smooooooooooooooth operator. Uruk...man. It was a pleasure to meet you. I really wish I had spent more time with you and less time sleeping with Homer. But I'm really glad we got a chance to meet. Bentley, thanks for the ride from the airport and for reminding me to get a vasectomy. Kevzilla, you still have fabulous hair. Thorn wears socks for shoes. Romo doesn't look anything like Romo. Judson on the right.

Epic postcaps coming in now . . . Echo on the thanks to Guster for running the squares. For just missing three times, I had a blast in what would otherwise have been a pretty meh SB.

And to think, I felt like gm and I shared a "monent" as we discussed his sun aversion and how there was no chance he was driving my car to a dinner I wasn't attending. Stl bob was the most "unlike" I expected. Frankly, based on the board and my offline messages with him I expected a portly and boisterous fellow. He is actually thin and somewhat quiet but very friendly. Or maybe he was just being polite and doesn't like me much. :mellow:His wife is awesome. Willing to have fun and accept his Internet friends right away. And good looking to boot!Guster was also a surprise. We have been connected on linked in for a while but I never knew that was him. Dude is obviously very smart and charismatic. He'd make a good ponzi scheme administrator. Stu is EXACTLY like I imagined. Quiet but friendly, calm under alcoholic duress. Cool as the other side of the pillow, as they say. Bogart was much less abrasive than I imagined. Dude is super friendly and has a quality rare these days: the ability to listen without looking like he is simply waiting for his chance to speak.Homer is nothing like you imagine. He's much worse. Much much worse. But in a good way. ;) Imagine a guy who said, "#### it, I like to drink and goof off and sleep late. Being a bartender is my calling." Imagine if the Bart Simpson who was introduced in1989 had continued aging and was in his 30's now. That's him - and he's awesome. Romo was a great sport but had a perpetual "how did I send up her with all of these heathens?" Look going on most of th time. And his wife appears to be about as cool of a "chick " as possible, especially since she was sober. At one point I went to get booze from her car and didn't know which one it was. She said, "it's the old black Camry missing a hubcap....don't laugh....the car chose me." :lmao:I drank with thorn for about four hours before he revealed they he was an attorney, which made me almost fall over and hit my head on the ground. UNi has the look of a hipster but none of the air. Friendly dude, would fit in well in Austin. Even gave me a man hug when we parted. But my favorite moment was hanging with Uruk when everyone had left for dinner Saturday and I was finishing a beer. He was not feeling well but tried to tough it out because he's that guy that wants everyone to he happy and comfortable even when it isn't his house and he feels awful. Thanks good buddy. Hang in there.

how or when has Bogart ever given the impression that he's abrasive? Seems like one of the last attributes I'd use to describe his online persona.

Nothing he did at all. I think I had some impressions based on poorly remembered posts. He's an awesome dude and I'm glad to have sorted that out.

we need a midwest GMTAN cornhole at some point. Should we all meet up in Madison or something?seems like a good spot for Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Chicago people at least.
I could host, but I'm poor and only have 1 extra room. We have a sectional though, and an air mattress. Could be epic.
Hotels are cheap so I'd be up for a Milwaukee trip too, but Furley probably has room if we head up further north.Psycho Kev better show up though.
i have a 10k sq ft house with outbuildings on the acreageshoot your own food, though

WEBCAM THE #### OUT OF THE PLACE!! HERE! TAKE MY MONEY! :moneybag: :moneybag:
I'm already throwing money at the screen but nothing is happening!BTW - what's AO?

I didn't know what to expect from Abraham, but I sure as hell didn't expect Vince Vaughn in a sweater vest.
I was more comfortable around him on day two when he was dressed like a civilian. Day one I worried there may be a frat pitch coming. #rushchairmanDamn glad to meet him though.

I'm still shuked, but I think I'm seeing the light.I thought Albert Oaks was a hotel where everyone who couldn't fit in Cos' house stayed. Does Cos own a hotel?
not sure my search link worked, but it's been discussed in here dozens of times.he recently converted his place into a B&B. Coshole was at AO.
