GM's thread about nothing (62 Viewers)

Coshole2013 Slave Name vs Screen Name Usage:I told someone over the weekend that it was like being in a bilingual family where everyone goes from one language to another, but that's not quite right. Some, I saw called almost exclusively by their real names: the ladies, Bob, Kevzilla, COlin, Bentley (1st or last), Romo, UniAlias (because no one can say that drunk), Brad Buck.Others almost always by their screen names with occasional lapses: Homer, Gusher, Thorn, Stu, Bogart. Then the bastards: me, cos, GM - wait, I may want to root for the tumor with that company. That's just from my perspective - no idea what they called each other as they cuddled.

to the weekend's memorial playlist. A long distance dedication from a young lady who was (literally) touched by a brief encounter with a drunk albino from Oregon.

A few thoughts on the people from the weekend. If I forget anyone, I apologize, I will remember at some point and post:

Cos and Mrs. Cos: In all the funny and awkward and stories of Homer and Stu, it can not be buried that Cos and Mrs. Cos were the perfect hosts and Albert Oaks fully exceeded expectations at the venue. Stu, Uni and I walked into our suite and decided that we were never leaving. The whole place was great, the food was amazing (Cos thinks of everything, including having Corned Beef Hash and Migas for breakfast on days people were going to be hungover and drinking later that day) and everything was thought of. While we were having fun, very often Cos was behind the scenes working his ### off. And Mrs. Cos is simply lovely and can discuss any subject with anyone there.

Urak-Hai: Our Man Of Honor. I fully expected a somewhat gruff guy who acted like Hank Hill. Took about 3 seconds after meeting Urak to realize that just isn't the case. Big man hug and absolute glad that you were there. Many times, would stay in the background just taking everything in. Very happy in just the fact that everyone else was having fun. Anytime I would walk up to chat, Urak always asked "How are you doing?" and clearly wanted to know. Often he would just shake his head and gave a "can you believe this" comment. The fact that this all came together from a silly thread, in a catch-all forum on a simple message board was not taken for granted from him. Coming in at 4am to find Urak on the patio, awake for the upcoming day, ready to take a shot with us, was a huge highlight for me personally.

YSR and Romo: Don't let YSR's pretty looks, witty banter and being knocked up fool you. She is one of the guys. One of the guys I enjoyed hugging more than the others, but one of the guys still the same. A real treat to just hang out with and is probably somewhere around the world with our lotto winnings. Romo was super cool, from the first moment introducing himself as Romo, to being my stronger partner at cornhole, to running the poker tournament, the guy was just awesome. Super competitive but sneaky nice about it. Nice to have another non-smoker around as well. If I am competing in anything, I want Romo on my team. I guess I just don't want him if I need help sharing the driving load.

SLB and Mrs. SLB:Another amazing couple. You guys should teach others how you do it. SLB could easily be the center of attention, but instead seems to hang back at times, picking his moments for greatness. The most genuine handshake and hugs in the group, and that's saying a lot with this group of huggers. I might be redundant, but just had some really good moments chatting with Bob. All the small talk has been taken care of long ago in thread I guess, and so it gets to meat and potatoes pretty quick. Bob outkicked his coverage with Mrs. SLB. Lovely, friendly and willing to put up with things like Bob falling loudly in the middle of the night. Clearly a keeper. Not to mention great cleavage.

Kevzilla:Magic space hair confirmed. Great guy. Of all the drinkers there, I had the most "booze" talk with Kev. Anytime I'm in Austin, will absolutely have to reach out to him for dinner and/or drinks. If at this point you feel like I'm kissing everyone's #### and not going to say anything bad about anyone, you might be on to something. And that is kind of disappointing, I was hoping for at least one person that we could have dogpiled.

Bentley:Everyone else was surprised about Bentley, but he was just as I imagined. Decked out in burnt orange, super friendly guy. I think him and I got into the most actual sports talk during the weekend. We didn't even talk about he was the reason I was first banned on FBG (something about the real Romo violating Jessica Simpson in the most un-natural of ways when Dallas wins), but we had plenty of opinions on how to fix the Cowboys. Also, his boys were the best kids possible. As a parent of small kids myself, I was amazed how well behaved they were on Saturday. Another guy I will have to look up when I move into Cos' place and get a job at a food truck.

Buck Bradcanon:Might very well have one of the best notebooks in the group, and most willing to make sure shtick stays alive. He ####### brought ice cream cake with "May All You Dreams Come True" written on it. Was also given the keys to the GMTAN twitter account, and drove the car with class and style. Super nice guy that I feel honored to have partied with on Saturday (even though we got left behind on party bus adventures). I now have a drinking buddy when I visit family in SA.

Thorn: Might have been my biggest surprise. Not that I didn't know how cool he was, but just have very SUPER cool he is. One of the funniest guys this weekend, and does it easily, often just under the waves of all the loud guys. One of the few that went 3 for 3 going out, and can easily go toe to toe with anyone drinking wise. And the some ##### can dance better than anyone else in the group. By a mile. And I don't care what anyone says about his shoes, I'm going to get some of those this weekend. And a super strong Bocce player, no matter how drunk. He, Mrs.SLB and I will be having our parade just as soon as Baltimore returns our floats. Absolutely want to party with this guy again. Responsible for a top five highlight mine: walking down Saturday morning and seeing Guster still in his clothes from the night before, because Thorn locked him out of the room. Well played sir, well played.

UniAlias: The baby of the group (not to be confused with "Whose watching the baby?!?"), made a very strong showing for Coshole MVP. I've hung out with Uni before, so I know he can drink with the best, and be funny with the best, but he was clearly in the zone this weekend on the big stage. Fighting back a reaction to shellfish Friday night with booze and cigs, he rallied to go 3 for 3 with going out each night, got kicked off a party bus, played wingman to Stu Sunday (not to mention Homer's PowerTop little brother), and might very well drank more than anyone else. This kid has a future as a fixture at these things for years to come.

Krista: Our super secret surprise guest!! I can confirm money changed hands upon her arrival. Very nice and down to earth dispite having Chet money and first world problems. And is very much not fat. Don't read anything into the fact she got a 3XL shirt. And still very nice and very talkative when the idiots came home at 4am all drunk and stuff. Great gal and very glad I met her.

Homer: As advertised. 100% as advertised. I want to adopt Homer and just have him stay in my spare bedroom. I honestly can't say anything here that everyone doesn't know. A force of nature that is funny as hell and a good guy. Until he gets drunk. Then #### gets real. Amazing shot maker, bummed that I never did get an Irish Breakfast, but I have a good feeling Homer and I will cross paths again. And for the record, Homer jokes never get old. "He's a pedophile, not a homosexual pedophile. That's just wrong." One of two guys that I saw in their underwear. Sneaky awesome at cornhole. Or maybe I'm just sneaky suck at it.

General Malaise: The other guy we all saw in his underwear. Also 100% as advertised. When GM and SLB are trying to decide if I look more like Chris Farley or Jack Black, I laughed, I cried, I made sure my gym membership is still valid. GM drops knowledge 24/7. Friday night, drunk off his ### and inbetween trying to rub a freckle off a girl's nose and buying breakfast at 4am, GM walks over to me, nods, looks me in the eye and says, "So....your life has been sucking for a while right now, huh?" And then gives me real deep guy stuff, offering up anything I need. And I just met this guy hours earlier. Very, very cool guy. If only he had some Oregon gear. The video of him eating at Salt Lick and his lecture to me and Uni about not getting married ever ever, but when we do, we should do..... are clear highlights for me.

Colin: It's already been mentioned, but Colin is very much cooler in person than he sometimes comes across here. Lose the sweater vest, and he's even better. Would have been very cool to have him at the game Sunday, but like bentley, Kev and Buck, even if you couldn't stay the whole time, I think it was very appreciated for the time you could be there. Everyone did a great job carving out time in their lives to hang out. Again, how this happened because of this thread is just stupid insane.

Disco Stu: Everything you have read and seen is true. Feel silly adding anything beyond that at this point. Like Bob, Stu kind of hangs in the background and then dominates when needed. And clearly the Michael Jordan of social interaction buildings. Watching a master at work still has me floored.

Guster: OK, fine, I will say it. Guster might have been the most different than anyone else I expected. Not different bad, just different from what I expected. I thought some of the childish antics on the board was shtick, I was mistaken. That said, really awesome guy, super nice. The one guy I wanted to meet most, and most glad I met. Makes a mean cookie bar and spiced nut. And I have never seen a guy more excited to lose money, but it was very awesome. And I'm also very impressed with his work with the ladies. Much better than what I can do. But wear Stu is Jordan, Guster is Bill Laimbeer. He pretty much pisses off the entire team, often looks ugly when playing, and uses brute force and lunch pail antics to get the job done. But at the end of the night, he gets his points and fills up the boxscore nicely. I can't wait to party with him in Cincy sometime.

OK, so I started feeling the #### about halfway though this, but was already pot committed. Now I'm worried who I forgot about.

:goodposting:I switched my introduction to Stu after the first two minutes. My breakdown...slave names - YSR, Uruk, Abraham, Uni, PepperFBG names - Homer, Guster, Thorn, Bogart, Buck, GM, Romo (or "the Romos" for the happy couple)I'm also going to include Bob, Bentley, Kev, and Krista here.some of both - cos

I was wondering how this went down. I bet it sounded pretty cool out at the bars, like you guys all had nicknames from your fraternity days. Stu, Guster, Bentley, Homer, Thorn, Bogart - these all sound cool. Then I saw me at a bar full of hot girls and everyone calling me "flysack." "Flysack?" says imaginary hot girl."You can guess what it means," says Homer, holding up two peanuts and extending his pinky.

2 for 3. He stayed back with the MMA viewers on bachelorette schoolbus night. Uni definitely put in a strong showing overall though. You, Thorn, and I had the only unblemished records when it came to going out. I think I was the last one to walk through the door every night morning. :bag:

That's right. Math is hard. Buck played the role of Uni that night.

There's so much right and funny-true in this post that I'm not editing. If you guys are ever around Bogart, you'll notice that everytime you look at him he's looking down at his phone like he's not hearing what's going on. Oh, but Bogart's watching/hearing/REMEMBERING. Oh, yes he is.I see a career in blackmail in his future.

Seriously, great & funny guy.

SLB could easily be the center of attention, but instead seems to hang back at times, picking his moments for greatness. The most genuine handshake and hugs in the group, and that's saying a lot with this group of huggers.
:goodposting:Also the most sincere guy you'll ever meet. Big, big fan.

Agreed. When Bob writes that something's got him in tears, I can believe it (not that I didn't before). Funny to contrast that to the "leg-breaking" story he told me Sunday, though.

we need a midwest GMTAN cornhole at some point. Should we all meet up in Madison or something?seems like a good spot for Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Chicago people at least.
Great Taste of the Midwest weekend, imo
Oh, hell yes. That may be better than my idea of getting the wallaby there.I want a dedicated webcam on Homer.
aren't those tickets hard to get or something?
Hmm. True.Otoh, the fest itself is just Saturday afternoon, and any non-ticket-getters would have the run of Madison's bars for the day.

We interupt this broadcast for an important service announcement!

ATTENTION GMTAN USERS

On or about July 27th in the year of our Lord, 2013, there will be a pay-per-view event you have to see!

Please watch

Details please? Is it just the PPV? Is it a cornhole spread over several days?edit: if you'd rather PM, that's cool. I may be able to help organize if you need it

My company has an opening for an Outside Sales Rep in Bakersfield if anyone is interested. Must know valves.
What kind of valves?
Oil and and gas.
What would something like this pay and how closely do you check to see if applicants really have "experience"?
Also, can you take entire summers off?
Tenure after 30 minutes, right?

We'll talk. PPV going to charity, me and Zilla will be the broadcast team. We just need Homer to be a willing participant and we're gold! I expect tens and tens to tune in!!!!

Stu has a very calm, almost effeminate voice. I think its part of his bit. Over the years I imagine by the time some girl figures out that he's not gay he's already done ####### her.

Well of course.

A few thoughts on the people from the weekend. If I forget anyone, I apologize, I will remember at some point and post:

:lmao: those chicks were dumb and i was in no mood to put up with them. I think Saturday night was a bit more my usual style. Still not the smoothest and not for everyone, but plenty effective.Looking forward to the next time GB... only less time with you as the DD
