Suggested to Mr. krista that we should see a movie this weekend. After looking at the listings realized there were so many I wanted to see that we should see two.Krista: We could each rank-order our top five and then use Rotten Tomatoes and imdb rankings to create a blended average rating from which we could choose the top two. :excited:Mr. krista: Or you could pick one and I could pick one. :bag:

Was very disappointed that he and Buck weren't there Sunday. I knew I'd miss GM but didn't know how much my delayed arrival would make a difference. :(
As it is, I'm watching "flight" at home and eating triscuits. So maybe you didn't miss much.
I don't know; I've always thought you were interesting on here anyway. Next time!Speaking of next time, I feel like I saw none of Austin, perhaps because I saw only the airport and hotel airport environs, plus AO. I had hoped to audition it for possible Kristarelocation. Any thoughts from locals or near-locals are appreciated. Will say that the biggest impediment to me would be having to say I'm a Texan (sorry bentley).

I spent a week and a half in and around Austin, and I loved the town. It was very un-Texasy. In fact, I did hear someone in Killeen say in a deep drawl "Austin isn't Texas." so there's that. It reminded me of Portland a lot, and Portland is one of my favorite cities ever. Only with better weather. It wasn't like being in Texas at all.

Ummmm......I'm pretty sure that we wouldn't let you claim that even if you wanted to. One doesn't simply become a Texan because they happened to stop by for a little while. I'm a fifth-generation Texan and there are people that think I'm a n00b.Austin's obviously a great town and the least Texan of all the Texas cities in a way. We still elect Democrats to all of our city and most of our state political positions. The city is slightly bigger and the metro area is quite a bit bigger than Memphis. You have to go to Houston (or Dallas) for all your real big city culture, but neither of them are that far away. The Hill Country is beautiful. Summers are insanely hot. We have a couple of huge music festivals in the spring (SxSW) and fall (Austin City Limits). We have a lot of disc golf courses and our own Formula 1 track (the only one in the USA). You and Mr. Krista would be more than welcome at the bentley family tailgate bus for every Longhorn home game.

Delivered where? Newsflash, folks. I don't live in Iowa.

Here are a couple of videos I shot at Salt Lick. The first is the GM eating BBQ video that's been referenced here a couple of times. The trip out there was a riot. First of all, GM really, really wanted to drive to the Salt Lick. He asked everyone, repeatedly, if he could drive their car. I think Romo ultimately got him in the car with the promise that he could drive at some point, but I can't say for sure. And as has been documented already, the ride over went something like this: "Uni, don't ever get married... I mean, I know you're going to get married at some point, so here's what you do... save all your money... buy property... ISN'T THAT RIGHT, ROMO? YOU GUYS OWN LOTS OF PROPERTY... but the property has to have cash flow... otherwise, you sell it... and then... you put the money into a portfolio and you let it sweat... yep, let that portfolio sweat for you... where are we going?.. how far away is this place?... this is bull####... if we were in Portland, we'd be at the coast by now [repeat x32]... Jesus Christ, where the hell is this place?... if you guys came to see me in Portland, we would just go to a restaurant across the street... so if the Ravens win, I've got a $1300 ticket... yeah, I gave a stripper $100 to take to Vegas and put on the Ravens... no, I don't have her phone number, but we are friends on Twitter, so I'm sure she's good for it... my god, we have seen this sunset from 8 different angles... this is such bull####... I bet there are rattlesnakes out here... where is this place?... yeah, so you want to let your portfolio sweat..."
:lmao:

So, one customer looks like a good prospect. The other cancelled our meeting because I told him id set up a meeti t yesterday and didn't email him til 8 this morning. Maybe he is right. But mostly, #### him.

I've been down for SXSW as I've had lots of friends play there, but even so I'm not sure I've had a true flavor. Truly, if it weren't in Texas, I wouldn't hesitate to put it near the top of my list, from what I know and what I've seen (admittedly not enough). And again no offense to the rest of Texas, which has some good stuff but is just not for me in many ways. And though I didn't think I should add my "here's my take on everyone" to the others since (1) I wasn't at coshole that long and (2) I don't write as well as some of the others (Bogart, Guster, etc.), let me say that my biggest surprise on Sunday was probably bentley. I didn't have the "wrong" impression that some did of a guy who was surly--all my indications were nice guy--but I was just blown away by how genuinely friendly and interested in talking he was. Let's be clear, bentley is ridiculously good-looking to a point where I thought he would be a "too cool" guy but is actually just the most chill and genuine person who is actually interested in getting to know you. Someone described him as the best of what Texas is known for. If that's true, then give me Texas all the way. Yee-haw.

That's cute and all. But my family is from Tennessee. And I've been from one side of 40 to the other. And I love Tennessee. But texas is texas, and everywhere else isn't. And if you think Bentley was hot you should have seen stu (also texas) working his magic.

I don't get most of that. But bentley is hot. Stu has magic. They're entirely different things. Let's not get into a debate here about which cosjobian is hottest. That would be...awkward.
