GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

Spent a couple hours in the studio this morning.

It started off terrible. Just couldn't do anything right.

I was ready to toss the Frosti page in the trash and just start over.

Last 30 minutes made things go from a disaster to average/ A bit less than average.

New image is the third one in the portfolio.

Nice Guy Frosti
It's awesome.
Updated in image 4.Tanner, the Man and shuke, thanks for the kind words.

Still needs some fine tuning in the faces.

However, since this is one of a series of probably 200 ish ( when complete)',

I need to try to finish by early next week.

Showed it to my wife. She said it was awesome but that "it looks like he's trying to be nice and make your face look less fat."

 Tell her the first rule of portrait painting, unless you are going full on fat figure painting like Lucian Freud or Jenny Saville, is to make all adults who are not terminally ill skinnier than they are.

Guy on one of my flights today gave me his USA Today when my computer died. Front-page article on research done on what people "like" on Facebook (actually true). Loved these bits; sounded like an Onion article:

The study found "likes" that are the "best predictors of high intelligence" included "Cloudy Cold," "Clint Eastwood," "buying third world countries" and "Microbrews". Low intelligence correlated with liking "NASCAR" "not reading" and "Justin Bieber." Researchers had no explanation why.

The study also found that "good predictors of male homosexuality" included liking "Ooops, c@ck," "JAA" and ":style:". Strong predictors of male heterosexuality included liking "Fantasy Football," "colon cleansing" and "reckless sex after divorce."
GMTANed.
 nttawwt, but offdee seems about as closeted as it gets.

Why can't a man enjoy fashion, be flamboyant, and take the occasional #### in the ### without being labeled gay?

Huge fan of what I've seen so far  Let me know next time you're doing a casting call

Abe> Are you going to any of the rodeo BBQ cookoff this weekend? If so, hit me up with a text.K4> What do you think about your company Intranet? I recently ran across an article on it as a "good" social Intranet which is something I'm trying to sell our executives on.JR has a cold and he's not sleeping well. It's kinda entertaining because he gets mad about being sick. So every once in a while I'll hear him scream out "MY NOSE IS STILL RUNNING!" or "GET OUT OF ME COUGH!" and then he'll go right back to sleep.
What did it say about it? I'd be curious as I've noticed nothing revolutionary, unique or even unusual about it. In terms of a "social" aspect, a couple of years ago they pressed people to join this Yammer site that was supposed to be our work version of Facebook. It was awful, and I don't know anyone outside of Corporate Communications (who set it up) who uses it. So definitely I'd love to see that article--I might be missing something.
I'm pretty sure it was someone from your Corporate Comuunications dept talking about how great the Yammer site was. So there you go. Thanks. This brings up another annoying point. Every damn MarCom presentation I see or article I read talk about all this research and challenges people overcome to build something but almost nobody presents any data or info showing if it worked.
Corporate Communications people are on par with HR people in their ability to label something a success with no data. When they decided to have Yammer here, all of us "higher-ups" were practically forced at gunpoint to join because we were supposed to set the example to encourage others to do it. So we all dutifully did, and within a week we'd all realized its utter uselessness and stopped using it. I just looked at it to see how it's going and note that the only post today that wasn't from Corporate Communications informed me that Quintesha (former Tanner student?) is "Ready for lunch!!!!!!!!!!"

So I'm now officially 40.
HB Canuck! How many years is that in Canadian?
Exactly.Truck, you gotta take one in the bung and then go home for a nice nap. If you wake up confused, you know you're still straight.
Wasn't my Disco Stu poem enough?
That was yesterday. This is today.

:lmao: About a week ago one of my female students came in wearing a t-shirt with 4 cat faces on it. It reminded me of this.

I asked her to stand up so I could see her shirt (this must be asked in a very precise way as to not seem like a perv). She looked a little confused. I told her "I just think cat shirts are funny". She said "Oh, I though you were going to tell me I was breaking the dress code for some reason."

I told her "There is a five cat maximum for t-shirts. You're good."

I do stuff like this all day just to amuse myself.

Yesterday I was in an engraving store getting an ID bracelet engraved for our kid. I was considering telling the girl taking my order that it was for my girlfriend, but after watching her spell "plaque" as "plaek", I figured that a highbrow :homer: quip like that would sail right over her head.

Lot of 40-somethings in GMTAN...congrats flysack.
GMTAN needs more teens.
I could get my son's girlfriend to join up.

:lmao: Also> Thanks everyone for the B-day wishes. If I said the highlight of my morning was taking a hot bath while reading Faulkner, would that be a "good predictor of male homosexuality" or a "best predictor of high intelligence" ?

Before anyone says it, I know, the only fair answer is a "best predictor of intelligent homosexuality." I swear there were no bath salts involved, inhaled or otherwise.

;)

Got a formal offer today from one of the firms I've been talking to. Not overwhelmed. The other firm contacted me half an hour later, and although they didn't make me a formal offer, described the compensation package that they expected to offer within a week. It's much better.Only problem is I'd have to commute to Seattle or move, which is sort of a big deal since my daughter is here. In traffic, it's about an hour and a half each way from here. I guess I can move somewhere in the middle, but the places in the middle pretty much suck.
You would hate your life with that commute IMO.
