People actually dislike Glengarry Glen Ross?
:shrug:I was surprised also
It's easy to argue that no fewer than four really good actors give the best performances of their film careers in it (pryce, Baldwin, lemon, Harris) with spacey close and pacino's up there as well if not for the fact he has such a big portfolio.
I saw it only about 5 or so years ago. I was prepared for the best movie ever. It wasn't bad, it just didn't live up to the hype for me. :shrug:Agree with the post on that it would probably be much better on stage

My sons have email accounts now. We are hoping it improves their writing skills. But there's some trepidation about all this. I mean, what if a Nigerian queen asks them for money or a friend of theirs forwards them a Forrestmail?

Parental thoughts on 10/8 year olds and email?

I've pretty much found that email in general confirms that most people are awful awful writers. So good luck!

I'm also extremely proud of Cal. The reason my cousin is in town is because their oldest is very special needs (he's six and still has to wear a diaper)so he is getting more testing at Children's Hospital. Cal too it upon himself to teach him how to say basic words like "lamp", "curtains", "rug" etc. Cal just walked him around the house and was as gentle as good be with him. That's a good boy right there.
That's awesome.
:goodposting:

The point of the exercise is to engage them in written emails and help them work on their writing by exposing them to good writing and helping them work on theirs (correct punctuation, encourage proper sentence structure, build vocabulary, discourage redundancy, built their typing skills). Wait until your kids are in grade school and you have to help them with their writing with pencil and paper. But yes, your point about people being bad writers in general is understood, despite not being germane to my query.

I've never even seen it :bag:
Me either.
No excuses - its on netflix. I love this movie, but it made me really uncomfortable at every turn. Great actors, a bit over the top, and works very much like a stage play on screen (it was). If you are old enough ...kinda of like "Playhouse 90." The intensity and the atmosphere remind me a lot of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" Another incredible and stressful movie that everyone should see."Time to play get the guests - Maw-thaa"
Don't have Netflix (Hi GM)But we do have Hulu Plus, maybe I'll look on there for it. Although to be honest, I'm not really sure what Hulu Plus is, except you can watch TV shows on it.

It is germane - how is exposing them to ####ty emails from people helping them? Last week I received an email from the vP of a biotech company that was six sentences long. Among other sins he ended three sentences with multiple exclamation points, typed the first sentence in all caps, and called me "buddy" twice before signing off with "thanks buddy".

Because they won't be trading emails with VPs of biotech companies. The bulk of their exchanges will be with me, my wife, their mom, their grandparents and their friends. Their writing skills will be sharpened through exchanges with us; the fun aspect of it will come from interacting with their friends.

stupid Ducks probably cost most of us boatloads today, but congrats
Yeah, that blows man, sorry. Wasn't sure why that was a Boatload Bet of the day...is St. Louis a basketball powerhouse or something? Gonzaga can take a knee a blow me. Destroyed all my brackets.

Bets for tomorrow?
You're the expert, gloatmonster. Whatcha got?
Next time my Ducks win I'll not be excited? Mild leans:

Minn +8

Ill +8

Duke -6

SDSU -7.5

I'm not sure if JTC is alive or not. He's my betting mule but he's yet to respond this morning. +2 whole units for the tournament. :bowtie:
Lol

Tonight I'm going to see Leonard Cohen. The last (and only) time I saw him was practically a religious experience to me. Suck it, stryker.
So jealous.
Is he the guy that was on Star Trek? What does he do now? Not sure I've ever heard of him except for Star Trek which I've never seen either.
He does a one man show, lots of Shatner impressions and stories, then calls people up and does the whole "Live long and prosper" shtick with them
I really had no idea what to make of Pack's post, but you answered better than I ever could. :lmao:

I don't need netflix. I have a giant box of WIRES to watch.
SO MANY WIRES(Glad you are enjoying it)
I finally figured out where I knew Bubbles derelict white friend from, and I didn't even have to Google it. He was Casper(?) from the mid-90s movie "Kids", right? Has to be. Now THAT was a movie. Whoa.
:yes:I took a first date to go see Kids GB the 90s
Did the guy who made Kids also make Bully?

Yes. Well I wouldn't say I 'dislike' it. I just wasn't as great as people seem to think it is.
If you lived my life, you would think it was awesome Mr. Shoop.
btw Bob, I forgot to mention earlier that once again Cal is proving himself a mini-hero of mine. You done some good fathering.
I would agree with this but the little jerk got a "B" in social studies.
B+ Still thinking I should fire bomb her house for not giving him an A-.

Don't forgot the bad poetry and attempts at singing. Dude sounds like he swallowed an ashtray.

(Larry Clark directed both, but Harmony Korine wrote Kids)Harmony Korine also made the new Spring Breakers movie and Trash Humpers, arguably the greatest movie about ####### on garbage ever made
