GM's thread about nothing (31 Viewers)

Seems like as good of a time as any to admit I've never seen a single episode of Wires, or The Breaking Bad, or Mad Man. But I do watch Walking Dead.
You make me sad.
:goodposting:Have a Bluray player, Stu? I'll bring you discs next time I see you.
Yes. The Wires? I know the other two are on Netflix... just haven't made time.
Only have Breaking Bad on Bluray.. the other two I just have digital copies. I can burn you DVDs of the Wires if you're comfortable being a dirty rotten media pirating thief.

This will also make you sad...

I took today off to have new windows put in and just now realized I could be drinking. It's nearly 2pm.
Heartbreaking stuff here, guy.
It's really loud in here though. I can barely hear the Ranger game. #fwp
who's winning?

Rangers 1-0 in the 6th. These Astros strike out a lot.

I have an offer on Casa Camila and am trying to decide what to do (don't worry, Uruk, it won't affect your stay). There is no way I can lay out all the economic considerations, including the rental income, housing market, expenses, etc. But I am wondering, when I'm weighing the economics, how much value should I put on the following:

1. Not having to deal with dumb-### renters (not you, Uruk, or most renters, but some of them).

2. The fact that about six months ago our roof repair guys said, with very wide eyes, that they had left the job half-finished because there was a "gigantic snake" living in the roof of the third bedroom.

3. My fear that part of the house (including said bedroom) might someday soon fall into the arroyo. Half the neighbor's house did.

Sounds like you already know what you want to do.

If it were me, I would unload it. That's because I don't enjoy undue hassles and don't enjoy sitting around and worrying about things that might happen that I would then have to deal with. But that's just what would be right for me.

ou need to decide how you want to live. Without a demanding job, are you going to be bored silly down there? You seem to enjoy doing things for people, worrying about whether they have what they need, and taking action to help others. So maybe having a house that you have to constantly tend to will give you a needed project, maybe the interaction with renters will make you feel occupied and alive.

This. If you can get a good/fair price, why not? In my opinion you would be well served to have some time to decompress from the stress of recent times. GIve up the headache; if you want to buy back in to rental property there in a few months (or years) I'm sure you will be able to.

How close is the nearest dry-cleaners?

I think you're both right here. The_Man had some great points, too. Right now, though, I just need less of the headache, and I can get back into the parts I enjoy about dealing with people by opening a B&B or restaurant when I'm ready, which had been the plan before. The_Man, I've also already hooked way in with a not-for-profit down there and will have lots of opportunities to serve people. In fact, having the extra money might mean that I can help them pursue some projects I've discussed with that group's leader already.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do you eradicate a giant snake living in your attic/roof?
Giant mongoose?
:lmao:

In truth, I don't know. They left for the day and told the people staying there not to use that room, and then the next day it was gone.

Update: 43 strikeouts in three games. :o

4-0 good guys today.

Great news at the CC homestead. Mrs. CC just received a letter saying someone is retiring at her old school, so she's been rehired -- back at a sane school, teaching middle school kids like she loves.

Score one for the good guys!

Does not compute.

But that's awesome either way.

Congrats. That sounded like she's been miserable.

My (late) mom loved teaching 7th grade. :loco:
