GM's thread about nothing (32 Viewers)

Being productive at 5:30 in the AM.

I'm moving out of my sister's house next week, so I just bought a TV, a mattress, a bed frame, and various other necessaries. Amazon is pretty friggin' great.

Glad I went to the bank today, though. :moneybag: :toilet: :moneybag:

“This defendant mixed alcohol and drugs and believed he could time travel like the movie ‘Back to the Future,’ He told the police that he intentionally drove into the other car to see what would happen.

How much LSD must have this guy been on?

Ok, I'll admit: back in the day when I was drug-addled 17 year old, I dropped 1 tab of acid, did a few bong hits, drank a few beers, then decided to drive home at 4am. The craziest things that went through my mind was -

1. The yellow lines on the road were from a Lynch movie. That's where they (the Dept of Transportation? I dunno) got the idea from.

2. The giant arced bridge that connects Niagara Falls to Grand Island was going to end at the crest and I'd fly off into the clouds like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

(It was really more of a hope than a full felt belief.)

Coworker Vipal went to Indian and then Dubai in April for a few weeks. Brought me back almonds wrapped in big dates. Pretty good.Say, do you know what Arabian men do on Friday nights? They sit under palm trees and eat their dates. WOKKA WOKKKA WOKAA!!!!
Who do you like better: Vipal or Hock Meng Tay?
It's Vipul, and I like him better.

Hold the motherjumping phone... I just noticed something. IdiotBoxer has been giving me crap about liking "Sideways" yet he is an active poster (and obvious viewer) in the American Idol thread? Are you ####ing me?
I think he facebooks about it.Sideways could have used more singing.
Or just change the cast. Taylor Hicks as Jack. Rueben Stoddard as Miles. Kristie McPhee instead of Virginia Madsen. Paula Abdul instead of Sandra Oh.
I just looked up these names and have come to the conclusion that you know an awful lot about American Idol to be complaining about someone watching American Idol
WHY AM I ALWAYS DEPICTED AS COMPLAINING???!1/1/1/???F?UC?K?YOUALL????!11:? :hot:
same reason shuke is always depicted as being shuked?
What's all this now?
see?

Abe, not sure what was decided about that Asus, but I can PayPal right away this morning. Let me know the email address to send to.

I worked from home today and the wife texted me at about 3:30 "Meat Raffle?" to which I of course replied "yes!" so we grabbed the kids and headed to the bar 3 blocks from our house for the meat raffle. We filled up on 1/2 price apps and happy hour beers/wine, won 2 giant fat ribeyes in the meat raffle, and pulled a $275 winner on pull-tabs with only $40 put in. It was a pretty good day.
I grew up a state south of you, and it's like we're from different planets.
I grew up in that state and it's like we're from different planets.
I find that reassuring. Somehow.

When you set your own schedule, a high level of discipline is required as more often than not I don't have to be anywhere at a given time. I don't have a 9 to 5 job. I don't need to be in my office between 8:45 and 9:15am or before my supervisor/manager/Lumberg sees the white sweat stains on my empty seat. But I still have to get stuff done. I have people to see, calls to make, papers to grade...stuff needs to get done before the day is out, preferably before that magic time of 2:20pm when the schoolbus pulls up and a smiling six year Flaming Bird comes bouncing off the steps, hands me his backpack and any other assorted weird stuff (oversized books on dinosaurs, rubber rainboots, a innocently tortured pastel portrait of myself with elongated limbs and various unintentional markers of disease) and then goes tearing on down the driveway, expecting me to catch him while bearing his burdens. I pretend it's impossible. He wins every time. Sometimes we go exploring in the woods, carving trails, discovering undiscovered clearings like they were Yanomani villages. Sometimes we go right home and play video games. While the video smack is loading we often sit shoulder to shoulder on the couch and talk about life, his mother, his girlfriend, why Superman wears red underwear on the outside and debate whether Hulk could knock over a bus with one of his farts. The rambling point here is I have a limited amount of infinite time on my hands, and every morning around this time I have a few choices to make -

1. Go back to bed. I'm still tired because I don't sleep well.

2. Cowboy up and hit the shower. Suck down more coffee. Get stuff done.

It's a tough way to live, but Sarte would approval. Before I began this post (that no one will read - tl;dnr) I was sure I was going back to bed. But something tickled my sphincter and booted my cheeks halfway through the writing, and now I'm off to the showers.

Yohoy!

This is really going to cut into my annual box o crap budget. $84 and an Arby's coupon
What's the coupon exactly? If it's just for a side item like curly fries or a drink then that's not a big deal. But if we're talking 5 for $5.55 then #### just got real.

I will bid my son for the box o'crap. Can send immediately.
I can send two of my daughters to Tiger Fan so his wife can test out having some girls for a few years. If you could just return them to me when they reach the age of being able to cut the grass and do other house hold chores, thanks.

Will there be more boxes of crap?
I'll tell you what I'll do. I'm going to bang the gavel on this one and call SLB the winner at $103.71. I'm not sure I'm prepared for this to end up in the thousands, which is CLEARLY where it's headed.

As soon as Colin confirms payment receipt, I'll pull together the original BOC and then arrange for shipping (this is an outright lie. I've already started pulling stuff together). I'm sure it will take me a couple of days.

In the course of pulling together a BOC for him, I'll evaluate whether I can make secondary BOCs that are worthwhile. I don't want to ship subpar crap and leave anybody feeling cheated. If it seems like I can make a good second BOC (and if you're willing), I'll create a second for the runner up (you at $99) and then re-evaluate whether a third is doable (fish at $91.10) IF he's interested/willing.

I'm pretty sure I can do two if you guys are game. A third might be problematic, but I'll try.
