GM's thread about nothing (19 Viewers)

Hey Shuke - Best of luck to you man. Both mu youngest sister and my nephew had severe migraine headaches. My oldest sister(nephews mom) did everything for him to help him find a way through the headaches. He went off an on all sorts of medicines. The only thing that eventually worked for them was diet regulation. They kept a journal of everything he ate for 6 months +. Eventually identified trigger foods that were playing a part in the headaches. They now shop at Whole Foods and have a strict diet of stuff they eat. Have you ever looked into that.

I feel for you as it is pretty miserable. My youngest sister has been dealing with pretty much constant migraines and double vision for the past 10 years(this is 24/7 for her). She also has other disabilities which makes it even worse.

I hope you find a solution to them.
For me migraines seem to be more caused by dehydration nowadays, so I carry a water bottle with me, but yeah, the journal is probably a good idea.

So, I had an EGD today. Actually a follow up EGD from a previous one performed in December. When I woke up in recovery, the doctor was there with pictures of my esophagus. Said it looked much improved than 6 months previous, but then he pointed to an area of discoloration and said, "We took a sample of these cells for a biopsy." So hearing that sucked. He didn't seem to worried, but since my dad died of esophageal cancer, I'm kinda freaking out. Should know something middle of next week.

Taking my wife in for a spinal tap tomorrow, so they can determine if she has some elevated pressures causing her headaches.

We have to catch a break soon. The docs she's seeing now aren't as liberal with the pain meds, which is probably for the better but means she gets super stressed out about having to ration what they prescribe, because she needs them to take the edge off.

Also have her scheduled for a sleep study since she is waking up with them every morning.

But this is the worst I've ever seen her. I'm doing everything I can to try to keep her fighting, but she continues to spiral down in depression.

To make things much worse, her mom and her are not really speaking. My MIL is convinced these are "all in her head" and my wife feels this is very hurtful, and told her so about a month ago. They both have some anger issues and are very stubborn, so not sure what's going to happen. I talked to my MIL yesterday and was furious with her, although I did my best not to be an ###hole.

Sorry for the rambling. I've been wanting to get this stuff off my chest but I hate typing long posts and bothering people with this ####.
Well ####. :( T&P's GB's.

As a Rams season ticket holder I get the opportunity to buy 8 tickets to the Real Madrid - Inter Milan match today at noon. Tickets otherwise go on sale Monday. The Manchester City - Chelsea match sold out in an hour a couple of months ago. I would be an idiot if I didn't try and get eight tickets to scalp right?

Anybody else hear any gems in regards to the SCOTUS striking down DOMA? I heard some evangelical on the radio news say "this is so wrong and now the natural progression is two brothers will be marrying each other." :lmao:

An old college buddy of mine who works for the Cato Institute (D.C political thinktank) posted this gem on FB -

"Jesus wept?" This n-igga Huckabee is a clown. What kind of grown ### man says silly #### like that? There are 1.3 billion human beings living on less than $2 a day, but Jesus is weeping because one country of 300 million people took a step closer to letting two dudes sign a piece of paper?! Huckabee's wife is weeping, because she just realized that she's married to a man who expresses himself like a seven-year old.
PS - It's ok that he used the hip version of the n-word. He's black. ;)

Searching for an explanation for the Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), televangelist Pat Robertson wondered aloud if Justice Anthony Kennedy may have been influenced by people on his staff who “happen to be gays.” …

“Jay, let me ask you about Anthony Kennedy,” Robertson said. “Does he have some clerks that happen to be gays?”
I believe that qualifies

Cos, your friend Nena is smoking hot. Does she like cat shirts?
I had a mad crush on her for a few years when I was going to SHSU and working at her record store. If I couldn't crack through the lesbianic shell in my prime, I imagine your catshirt will be similarly powerless.

One of the first bands I ever saw live. At the Bronco Bowl. Any of you DallasGuys remember that place?
Of course, wasn't it attached to a bowling alley or something?

Saw the Old 97's there.
 Graduated with Rhett Miller's brother, Ross. Also very talented with the guitar and the ladies.

i'm trying to help a friend hook up the internet to her receiver so she can listen to Pandora, etc. but i've run into a bit of a snag. She has a wireless modem/router combo that is in another room but the receiver only takes a wired connection. Is there some sort of wireless receiver that plugs into a LAN port?
sure. Does the receiver have USB ports?
I don't think so? Did a little googling and it looks like a wireless bridge will do the trick
Was just coming here to post this...

I think I'll go for the $73 tickets which I'm sure will be over $100 each after Ticketmaster drops bull#### fees on me.

Actually the fees were already added. Went $93 tickets.

8 Tickets:
  • Section 126
  • Row K
  • Seats 16-9
:excited:

ETA 2

HFS, awesome seats. My link

So what do you think I'll get? $400 a seat?

TPW appreciated.
Whoa, what the hell?

Ok, when I saw this earlier, I thought maybe I just had a bad notebook.

Joe T > it seems like you've caught a lot of us off guard here. Was that intentional? Why?

How are you holding up? If you've already started exploring the fresh poon, surely you know well enough to share pics
Update:

The split fortunately was very amicable and we remain great friends. We literally agreed to divide up our assets over dinner one night at a mexican place in town.
My ex and i first had the talk about splitting over dinner at a local chicken restaurant.
I guess I need to take my wife out to dinner more often.

Sorry for what you guys are going through.

Shuke, I know exactly what you mean re your MIL. My mother is famous for stuff like that. When she found out that my brother and his wife were having trouble having a second child (apparently their first was something of a miracle), she told him that his wife shouldn't have taken any meds for post partem depression, and she should now take more vitamins. Completely dismissed all the different doctors' advice. For my sleep apnea, she keeps asking me why don't I try going to sleep an hour earlier, in a tone that suggests this is the simplest thing ever to fix.
Yeah, I have a very opinionated mother too and she was furious with us for not forcing our daughter to sleep in a crib with a fixed bed-time. She made sure to tell us this at every opportunity and was very critical anytime she came over to babysit (which was very infrequent). And while I see her point, I also see what kind of child we have on our hands on a daily basis and know that forcing a strong willed, very active, very vocal and very head strong child to sleep in a boxed jail cell when she wants and succeeds at sleeping in our bed is and was a futile exercise. Finally, it came to a head last month in an argument with my mom completely unrelated to this crib/sleep issue...she brings it up and just hammers us. I finally said "Look, I have more kids than you. I do not need nor want your parenting advice, especially considering 50% of your children are feckless, selfish, financially and morally bankrupt and the other 50% is my sister. My sons are well mannered, well behaved, young men who excel in school and collecting friends so please, no tips from you needed. We got this."

Then I dismantled the crib and put it in the garage and am shopping for a toddler bed at garage sales. :bag:

:lmao: then he's right about it being Michelle Page.

I had to do a telephone deposition today for a witness in Cleveland. I asked my paralegal to have it start at 10 a.m. She set it for 10 a.m. eastern ( :hot: ), so I had to get to the office by 7 today. I typically come in sometime between 8:30-10, so I had no idea that the elevators are secure until 7 a.m. For some weird reason, they'll let you go to the top of the building, but not get out. My security card didn't work, so I ended up just riding up and down the elevator for about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get out at my office. :bag:

Wondering if I can print out the last month of this thread and read it on the plane.

Maybe I'll just Chet it up and pay for wi-fi.

Good luck to shuke and FDAS. Reading through the thoughtful replies from the jimtan family was a big reminder that I have been away from this thread for too long.

Dance Recital v. 2013 is tomorrow at 6pm. But we gotta get there early so I will be in line (outside) at 4pm with my grenis in my wife's purse.

You poor baby

BTW: I'm doing an OUTDOOR wedding tomorrow. The bride said "it's going to be really hot so we want the ceremony to be pretty short." She then proceded to add a bunch of stuff that is going to make the ceremony even longer than average.

Will a "wireless bridge" also work for the following:

I want to be able to pull up spotify (I pay for premium) on my phone and play it through my receiver.
