I think it should become your yearly father/son thing. Just add to it each year. "Here is a picture of me getting Latos to autograph a picture of me having him autograph a picture of him autographing a picture of him giving me his autograph."

This weekend I was playing in a softball tournament in the town where I grew up and went to high school and we had a three hour break between games so we went to a bar. Half the team was inside and half outside and I was hanging outside and I noticed a guy there by himself who I went to high school with an was actually really good friends with from 4th-12th grade. We played sports together all through elementary and high school and had sleepovers and played Nintendo when we were kids and were always hanging out in the same group in high school. When I realized it was him I went back inside and hid out there until he left because I didn't want to have to talk to him since I haven't seen him in probably 11 years. Is that weird?

Yes, but I think I remember you drinkenly telling us you were socially awkward one night. I'm kinda like that some times.

I have my issues, as I think TRE could tell you.

I knew that was weird. I should have talked to him but I just don't wanna be like "so what do you do" and "how's the family" and stuff. And then have to answer that too. Ugh. I bet Tanner backs me up here.

I'll go you one better. I got a new student in the middle of the school year. After a couple of days she ask me what side of town I grew up on. When I told her she said "you went to school with my dad...Phillip Cook."

(Phil and I were friendly but not really friends. I think I went to school with him 4th-8th or something like that. )

I told her "Oh yeah, tell him I said 'hello'."

That night he sends me a friend request on FB. Like that's going to happen.

I recently beefed up my LinkedIn profile, and added a whole bunch of new potential contacts by linking it into multiple contact lists from different email accounts. Somehow it "introduces" me to my girlfriends's ex-husband's girlfriend/baby mama who immediately requests to friend me or whatever the LinkedIn version of that is. Given that my lady's relationship with her ex is frosty on a good day and the new woman absolutely hates her guts, her expectation that I'd actually go for that is hilarious.

The wife and I were having a beverage at our drinking spot a month ago when my buddy Jim shows up. Jim was my closest friend for several years then drifted apart. It's only been the last year or so that we've been hanging out again.

So we all start talking about another old friend of ours, Quintin. Quintin moved to the L.A. area years ago and we all lost touch (not to mention he and his wife were Jehovah's Witnesses for a brief time). My wife mentions that she tried to look up Quintin on FB but he didn't show up.

She pulls out her phone and looks him up again and finds him. She friend requests him and messages him with her phone #. Sure enough he calls her about 30 mins later. The wife talks to him and then Jim talks to him.

Then I'm handed the phone. Now keep two things in mind: I hate talking on the phone and I was pretty drunk.

So I talk to Q for a couple minutes...jobs, wife, kids, etc...and then I realize I have nothing left to say so...

I hang up right in the middle and then gave my wife the phone "WTF, you're stupid phone just hung up for no reason!"

Wife calls Q back and starts talking to him again. I don't.

I really really like the Black River Killer song but have hated everything else I've heard from them. Probably need to listen to more.

Voice sounds a bit like Dylan and some of the songs sound a bit like Whiskeytown. But there is some Buffalo Springfield and Neil Young in there too as well as some real rocking out.

Never heard of them but just listened. Black River Killer sounds completely like later Dylan. A quick listen to other tracks doesn't set my heart a-racin'.

2009 is about right. They lost me with their 2010 release.

The two albums before that, "Wild Mountain Nation" (2007) and "Furr" (2008), were both very good. "Wild Mountain Nation" was all over the place... in a good way. "Furr" was more focused and narrowed down to mostly the Neil Young and Beatles influences IIRC.

FACT: Blitzen Trapper is Rainn Wilson's favorite band.
