GM's thread about nothing (35 Viewers)

How's this for a win: Called Sirius XM to cancel my subscription. I noticed this morning that they debited my account $56 (three months) and that's money I need for things other than a radio in my car. Guy offered a few things (like paying for two months and getting the rest free until December). Told him I appreciated the gesture but I really needed to get the full $56 back. So he credited the $56 and gave me two months free. I just have to call before September 10 to either cancel or stay activated.
I have a free six months with my new truck. Looking online it looks like you can haggle for a year for $60 or get 5 mumfs for $25. I'm not sure how much I need it with spotify/pandora/mlbapp already in tow, but if it's $60 for a year I might do it.
I think I ended up at $70 for 13 months. I have no idea how much lower you could get them, but I'm sure it's less than that. I didn't press very hard. The longer you subscribe the lower the annual fee they're willing to give. I've been wondering myself whether I'd be better off just using Spotify and killing the XM. I do like the sports options, though.
How do you install Spotify in your car?
Put the Install Disc in your CD player and press Any Key.
I nearly choked on a Cheeto here

Tonight I made a tasty dish; I cooked some rice vermicelli and filled a large ramekin about a third of the way up with them. I then put on some fresh spinach sauteed in butter with some pernod and shallots. I topped this with 5-6 fresh oysters and couple shakes of tabasco, a few T of oyster liquor, a T of fresh grated parm and baked for about 20 minutes. Then I topped with fresh hollandaise and paprika and returned to the oven for another seven minutes. Delicious. Served with crab cakes, fresh creamed red potatoes, kimchi and roasted beet and feta salad.
What was the tasty dish you made?
I'm still trying to figure out if half that stuff is real food or not.

AngryWife and JR are at a birthday party. I juts had a couple german sausage links and a half bag of Teddy Grahams for dinner. I'm pretty sure that I've forgotten how to fend for myself at this point.

Pretty sure Shuke would approve of washing down the Teddy Graham's with a beer. Just saying

You're not exactly Bear Grylls material...

My wife is gone and when I got home there was $6 on the counter. So like a good husband I went and bought a six pack. She just texted saying she left money on the counter to go buy food for our rabbit.

Strange question...

Can you fly in a commercial plane and check a bag that contains a metal urn with cremated remains inside said urn? I have my grandfathers remains and we would like to scatter him in the Sierra Mountains outside of June Lake where both my dad and grandmothers ashes were scattered. I want to drive the urn out there and back. My wife thinks it would be better to fly, taking 2 days off the travel and giving us more time there. We live in Chicago.

:oldunsure:
I don't know. Call the airline and ask.

I'm curious about the answer though as we (siblings) want to scatter my mom's ashes in the ocean, and they're currently in CO where she died.
Fly to Hawaii and halfway there, take mom to the bathroom

:lmao: I just don't know if mom would be cool as blue ice for a while. She liked warmer climates.

True story.

When my grandma passed she was living in Little Rock. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and all the family plots are up here. My dad and all his brothers and sisters wanted to have the funeral service up here but did not want to go through the hassle of having her body shipped in a coffin, or have someone drive her back up here. They decided to cremate her in Little Rock and then FedEx'd the ashes in the urn to our house. I am not sure what they put down as the contents of the package or what kind of insurance they took out on it. Would have sucked if they lost my grandma.

So, FedEx the ashes to the hotel you are going to stay at. Save them for the best GMTAN secret santa ever
fixed

She shoots an 800 lb shark that's falling from the sky. With a shotgun. It reverses course from a bear free fall from the blast and flies back like 20 ft.

Have you got data on falling sharks getting blasted with shotguns that says otherwise, Mr. Smartypants?

It's a simple matter of weight ratios. An 800 lb shark cannot not fly upwards from a 5oz shotgun slug!

Buy food for a rabbit? Grass from the yard down?

The hurricanes with which I have been familiar did not have this many lulls in them. Of course, none of them were created by SyFy.
