GM's thread about nothing (59 Viewers)

My little girl started kindergarten today. This is horrible.
Looking forward to scrolling right by the facebook pic.
:lmao: Holy crap.

Actually Frosty's daughter is scarily photogenic. I'm betting their old mailman was a handsome fellow.
You have no idea how many times I've heard the mailman joke.
Frosty: Regarding the FB pic your lovely wife (who I'm assuming only married you because you blackmailed her and then she made beautiful kids with the mailman) posted at kindergarten.... In the background there is a blonde wearing a purple tanktop with a black skirt. What's her story? Can't see her face in the picture and her legs may be thick, can't really tell. However, while utilizing the zoom, I can see under her right arm what appears to be the side angle of a good sized breast. It is covered by her shirt so no skin is visible (sorry GM) but I'd bet a box of freeze pops that she has quite the set of fun bags. I'm also getting a vibe that she's maybe a single-mom who is sexually frustrated because she's so busy with work and raising her kid on her own. Could you or Mrs Frosty maybe try to get some strategic pics at kindergarten tomorrow with Momma-FunBags in the background? But try to get her face in the pictures. Post them on FB or here, whichever is easier. TIA.

I spent the majority of the long weekend drunk in the adirondacks with my cousin. He's 28 years old and very entertaining. If you didn't know him, you'd probably think he's mildly mentally challenged, but in a humorous way. He pretty much has a zero success rate with the ladies, but he makes for a good wingman even though he doesn't realize it. I almost ended hooking up with young lady that was way out of my league and mostly it was because she thought it was sweet that I took my "challenged" cousin out for a night on the town. She was out with a group of friends and apparently the male friends didn't like me hitting on her and one guy was totally trying to get me to throw a first punch at him. But after a couple of jokes and a round of shots I suddenly became best friends with these guys. The girl ended up leaving and I ended up hanging out her guy friends for another hour doing shots and entertaining them as I danced with an elderly woman.
Almost!
The 17825634th that got away.
Give or take a couple. Oh well the hunt goes on.................

Looking over the roosters I count 2 PUP players, 10 players on IR, 8 waived players, and 1 player already on IR when drafted. I am assuming the waiver wire will open up tomorrow so we can all fill those voids on our team.
NO WAIVERS because TigerFan complained about it.
Too tedious.
:bowtie:

Who wants to worry about in season management for a $20 league
Speaking of which, has Commisholololololo logged in to set a lineup from OUR ####-tastic rooster?

I still say that if you lose 3 games in a row, you should be able to make one move.
I like it. But I'm not sure Yahoo's free service makes this process as easy as you describe. We could probably do it offline, but really, I'm ready to put this league on autopilot and run my other 2 leagues which have tedious trades and waivers and such.
And by autopilot, you really mean still having to login every week to set the lineup, right?? If you want autopilot I think last week I spent 20 minutes and setup this league in a free MFL best ball league that has almost everything we have (including your "bonus" points for long TDs and such) except punt and kick return yardage is split. They don't do head to head in the best ball version, just total points on the year.

Why not move back to Chicago and then stay in your Nicaragua house or wherever if it gets bad in the winter? Isn't that the whole point of having a house somewhere warm?

looks like everyone has at least attempted to set a roster except for the food drafters
Oh yeah. That.

I have a call in 15 minutes; will do it after.
Oh c'mon! You're in Nicaragua! You're just putting a conch shell to your ear!
Not quite true. The phones worked, but they all called Julio. Well, the one # I called was answered by "Julio's brother".
Sara? Llamar a Piloto Montaña para mí.

The cat doesn't like it.
If my veterinarian grandfather read that whole conversation his head would explode. Considering he died of a stroke that's pretty much what happened. I'm pretty sure it was because he could not fathom that people spent that much money "saving" pets.

The guy would pretty much be out of a job without those people, no? Unless he was just one of them farm animal vets.

Somewhat funny story -

My Mom and Dad met in London. My Mom was from Sydney and my Dad from Canada. When he finished school, they returned to Canada and lived with my Dad's parents while he looked for a job. One day while my grandfather was driving my Mom somewhere, he suddenly stopped the car, pulled a rifle out of the trunk and shot a fox across a field. As he went an retrieved it, he explained to her that it was rabid (out in broad daylight and behaving erratically). I thinks she was  .

Don't make 'em like that any more.

I think you think way too much about magic footballs.

Here's what I put in; let me know of any changes you'd like:

QB The Reformed Rapist
RB Ray Rice
RB Montee Ball :X
WR Randall Cobb
WR Eric Decker
TE Brandon Myers

K Who cares? (Bailey)

The ones I feel least confident in are TE (Fleener v. Myers a toss-up for me) and Flex, where there are a lot of ways to go.

QB: Cam The Damn Newton - Best Dual Threat QB in the history of EVER

RB: Trent Collects the Rent Richardson - About to set the NFL ON FIRE

RB: Chris Is it Piss? Johnson - 2,000 Yards in the BANK!

WR: Victor The Boa Constrictor Cruz - Best deep threat in the GAME

WR: Anquan TON TON Boldin - Strongest hands on the PLANET

Three more positives for OAK:

1) The weather kicks the #### out of nearly every other place's weather. Hot weather is for #######s, as is snow.

2) Plenty of really good restaurants just on this side of the (brand new!) bridge alone, never mind SF. And a chef (I would imagine) would miss the worst of the commute if you drove in to SF, assuming you leave mid-afternoon.

3) If...IF, for whatever godforsaken reason you want to jump back in to werk, plenty of options there for what you do.
Just talked to someone today about doing some work for a couple of LA companies. Also am probable to do some work for a company in NY that rhymes with "Repsi". All of this work can be done remotely from wherever I choose. :oldunsure:

I like working. :bag:

Oh happy birthday Krista.
This was really touching.

At this point would just like a place with decent weather and a not-crazy COL. Mr. krista was heavily in favor of the Pacific NW, but I fear the COL and general dreariness (as opposed to malaise). Open to DC, Austin, Denver and a few other spots but ATL seems a leading contender right now.
If you're seriously considering DC, I would jump in the dedicated thread with any specific questions (neighborhoods, etc..). Bunch of FBGs live in and close (scooby, Tobias, Don Q, DC Thunder, and more) and are a great resource.

As for the area in general, COL will be on the high side compared to places like ATL. The weather is more variable, too - though no more extreme than Chicago. It's extremely diverse, with a large thriving arts/food/cultural scene. From what I'm told, DC has one of the best Metro systems in the country (& is steadily being expanded) which is good because traffic sucks.

For sports, you have the 4 majors plus Baltimore right up the road with the Ravens/Os. The college sports scene is nothing like it is in the south & midwest - much smaller, more diluted (many there are from somewhere else and root for other teams), and more fair-weather.
The thing I might not like about DC is just how focused everyone is on government, The Hill, etc. Seems like all people talk about when I've been there.

Coming back to the US. :)

Atlanta, Savannah, and New Orleans are the contenders right now.
Why Atlanta?
OK, we're going there as an initial stop because, well, that's where we come in from Delta. But I kind of like Atlanta. We've discovered some interesting, diverse neighborhoods there, the food scene is good, like the weather, LOVE that there's a great airport there as being in Memphis made us long for a real airport again. It has all four sports. I don't know...seems to have a lot going for it.

For culture/history, though, might be lacking, which is why other places are beckoning too.
I hear ya. I lived in ATL for about 2 years (2003-4), and I probably didn't give it as much of a chance as I should have. My BIL has lived there since '98 and he said it's changed alot (for the better) culture wise.....and he's a die hard New Orleanean. My biggest complaints about ATL was that it had no identity (nobody is actually from there...hence not giving a crap about sports) and the traffic. Assume you would probably live in the middle of everything, so that cuts down on the traffic issue a bit.

I'm obviously extremely biased to New Orleans....and the 4 biggest negatives that I hear about the city are (1) crime (2) heat (3) education (4) corrupt politics. You've lived in Memphis, so #1 (hi GM :excited: ) and #2 shouldn't bother you...and since your cats don't need schooling, #3 is moot. I think #4 is getting better...but I could be wrong. Now all that being said, I think NOLA is truely the most unique city in the country. Great food, culture, music, nightlife, people in general. But from your previous posts, I'm not telling you anything you don't know.
Yeah, I know we've discussed it before, so I appreciate everyone's patience in talking about all this again. Where does one live in NOLA that's good? Uptown?

I thought I could stomach saying I lived in Georgia much more so than living in SC.
Hey! :hot:
Oh yeah. Well, you know, a Yankee living in SC. It's OK if you're from there.

Never lived in Atlanta or New Orleans, but having visited each city dozens upon dozens times, New Orleans kicks the #### out of Atlanta.
Likely true. Austin probably does, too.

Wait, that was it for Nicaragua?
Nicaragua was her Kris Humphries. Now she's looking for her Kanye.
Does that mean Chicago was her Ray J?
What's all this now?

Oh the sold to Winnipeg thing.
There's always the Atlanta Flames
Gwinnett Gladiators, 2012 ECL Eastern Division Champs. :bowtie:
Now we're talking.

Savannah seems small. I liked what I saw though.

Any place that let's you walk around outside with beers/drinks is a good place to be.
Damn, that is so true.

We liked it a lot, but I fear the smallness you mention, too. Seemed like a great scene but could get old quickly? The plus is that it's so close to Atlanta we could move there easily if it didn't work. I also like that we could live on an island (Tybee, Wilmington, others), not that we necessarily would.

It is not surprising, I"m sure, to hear that I am totally confused about what I want. Definitely thankful that I have the ability to #### around and try to figure it out, though. :/
Outside of the historic district, Savannah is pretty crappy. Now, the historic district is spectacular, but, as much as I love visiting there, I don't think I could live there.
Savannah definitely not getting much love here. Seems like not a great choice.

Dear k4,

Congrats on the (29th?) anniversary of your successful journey from amniotic sac occupant to occupier of independent space. I, for one, am glad you continue convert oxygen into carbon dioxide.

Uni and I decided to focus on players who weren't going to be cut. Surprised more teams didn't adopt this strategy.
:lmao:

I rode a bike the other day for the first time in years.

Wasn't sure how it would go.. but I gotta say, it was just like riding a bike.
Also :lmao:

Tanner wait!

Why not move back to Chicago and then stay in your Nicaragua house or wherever if it gets bad in the winter? Isn't that the whole point of having a house somewhere warm?
The cat doesn't like it.
Something like that.

Brought a little tear to my eye. :lmao:

Hey, where is SLB? I didn't get that FB birthday post that he's been doing for a couple of years. :hot:

I PMd him...but set a lineup just in case:

QB - Brady

RB - Murray, Jacquizzzz

WR - Johnson, Hilton

FL - Weeden

TE - Graham

PK - Bullock

DT - Lions

winner winner

Based on my assessment of your online personna, I would say you'd fit in best Uptown or the Warehouse District. If you're down with hipsters, then Marigny/Bywater area.

What do you know about the San Mateo Highlands these days? Way overpriced? Still a good reputation?
That's my neck of the woods. The real estate rebound has taken full effect here - prices are just about where they were at the height of the boom. Really nice place to live, if you can afford it though.

Long about week 10, we may wish we had trades and waivers.
